Weirdest gaming-related pronunciation you've heard?

I'm brazilian, people around here really don't care about correct pronunciation.

A lot of people around here says "Good of War". And even writes it that way. At least japanese pronunciation is almost always correct, as the vowels have the same sounds.
 
About Ubisoft as OOH-bee-soft instead of YOU-bi-soft:

Do you all realize this is a French company? Do you realize that for some godawful reason, they mispronounce their own name? Because in French, Ubisoft would NEVER be pronounced YOU-bee-soft, but instead OOH-bee-soft.

That's why it drives me nuts when they use you-bee-soft and "A Ubisoft Production" when my mind screams it should be "An Ubisoft Production".

In fact, it would be pronounced OOH-bi-soft in ANY Romance language, and maybe even German. Only English is "YOU". Drives me nuts.
 
I always pronounced Gerudo (from the Zelda series) like Jer-rue-doh (Jer like in the name Jerry). A friend of mine told me years ago that it was pronounced Guh-rue-doh but I don't really know what to think since no one ever actually speaks in Zelda games.
 
My favorite one was a friend that called the super gauge in some old fighter a "gog". I had no idea what the F he was talking about until I actually got over to his house.

I think they can decide how their own company name should be pronounced, regardless of origin. :) Someone said earlier in the thread that the "ubi" part of the name stands for "ubiquitous" anyway, which is an English word.

Also, the "u" sound in French is not pronounced "ooh" (like you would say it in English). It's... well, I can't really spell out the pronunciation since there's no English equivalent but... Google Translate to the rescue! http://translate.google.com/#en/fr/u
 
Have a friend that calls Pikmin "Peak min." He and one of his friends used to always say "org battle" instead of Ogre Battle as well. They still probably say it, but I haven't heard them talk about it for a number of years. I think I said something to the effect of, "you guys know that ogre is an actual word, right?" I don't think they had any suitable responses.

There are probably more examples from those same two people that I can't remember offhand, but those are the ones that jumped to mind.

Edit: and of course there's the timeless "Ock-arina of Time" vs "Oak-arina of Time" conversation.

You're not helping your cause. Every single one sounds like Marr-ee-oh. If there was an E in the name, it would be Merry-o. Since there is not, the a retains the same sound as in car.

No, every single one sounds like MA-ree-oh, as in, the way your average British English person says "man" or "map." And not how your average American English person says it.

I used the example that "Merry" sounds closer than "Marr" because it's how your average N American pronounces words like "Man" (sounds more like "Men" than the way a British English person says it).

It's obviously difficult to get across in words, but I can assure you that the way British English (and other accents as heard in the google link) people say "Ma" in Mario is not like this "Marr" that N Americans say it. Again, I'm only referring to "Merry" for the "Ma" part because of the majority of N Americans here that say words with "A" in the middle slightly different to British English.

Edit: To clarify:

"Ma-ree-oh"
"Marr-ee-oh"
"Merry-oh"

All sound different. But "Ma-ree-oh" is the correct way, which sounds closer to "Merry"-oh" than "Marr-ee-oh" ("Merry" used only as an example because of the way N Americans tend to pronounce words with "A" in the middle; I would not use this otherwise, but I'm taking into account differences in vowel pronunciation for clarity's sake)
