Well known movies you havent seen

p_xavier

Authorized Fister
Disinfected Dancing.
The hotly anticipated sequel for "Modern audiences"
White supremacy, the movie. It really is a bit discomforting watching it though. Poor white rich girl wants to fuck a poorer guy that parents won't approve. Cringefest.

I don't care for any super hero movies. Enjoyed Tobey's Spiderman movies but the most I can get.

There's more than four? Crikey.
Oh yeah, there's a bunch of 'em (Harry Potter movies). I almost pulled the trigger on the entire collection a few times from Amazon during their sales... but so far it hasn't happened. Black Friday usually has the best deals. Not that big of a movie person though.

Lot's of "old" movies like Citizen Kane and It's A Wonderful Life i've regrettably never seen. In terms of stuff much more recent than that, I've never seen Top Gun, Solo: A Star Wars Story, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia.

I went through a phase of watching the "must see before you die movies", but I didn't quite get them all in, so I've still got:

Scarface
Memento
Pulp Fiction
Seven Samurai
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
A Clockwork Orange
It's A Wonderful Life
Psycho
Mulholland Drive
Singing In The Rain

Seen all the other "must sees".

I did the same thing ten years or so ago when I really started exploring the classics. That was a great decision because almost all of the movies I watched then were truly excellent and that was so much better than seeing tons of contemporary movies that almost always ranged from below average to just above average with very few titles I'd call exceptional.

Agreed. The only one of the old movies I didn't particularly enjoy was Citizen Kane. However, movies like North By Northwest, Vertigo, Gone With The Wind, Rear Window, 12 Angry Men & many more ... all great.

Some of the movies from the 30s, 40s, and 50s that people mention are good, but they aren't great or must see in my opinion.

Like The Maltese Falcon. It doesn't do anything particularly unique and the story is kinda silly. Overall it's a good movie, but also you wouldn't miss much by skipping it.

Gone With The Wind. The story in this one is pretty interesting and the locations, set design, and cinematography are excellent, so if you're up for a 4 hour movie for that stuff this is a good one. The acting and the slow development of the story make it fairly difficult to watch.

If you want a few recommendations that are great from that time, Casablanca, The Best Years of Our Lives, Psycho.

I have never watched Alien or Aliens but I did watch Prometheus and AVP and thought those were both laughably bad.
...

I guarantee you alien and aliens are better than 90% of the films you have seen, at least, regardless of your tastes in movies. Especially if you keep in mind that they're Vietnam war movies.

I've never seen any of the Marvel films believe it or not. I did watch both Spider-Man from Sam Raimi but that was before the whole MCU became a thing. I have 0 interest in these films.

You need to fix that now. They're both classics but very different from each other. Alien is all atmosphere, mood and suspense. Aliens is a super intense and entertaining action flick with some horror elements.

You should watch those movies. They are both great.

I was going to post Once Upon a Time in America. But I had some free time so I watched it this morning. Amazing in an era that already has an embarrassment of cinematic riches.

Off hand...Momento. Always mean to watch it, never get around to it

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Same here. Pretty sure I fell asleep midway through, lol. Just didn't vibe with me, I guess.
People talk about it like it's one of the best movies ever. It's not even a particularly good movie from the time period it was released in.

Was it one of the first mafia movies? Maybe that's why. I prefer something like Donnie Brasco.

I don't know. I feel like there were black and white mobster movies, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Just did a search on Google... Wow, I didn't realize the first one came out in 1972. It is rating extremely high all across the board and has a stellar cast. Might have to give it another try some time, lol. Big fan of mafia movies and Pacino / De Niro.

I’ve been planning on watching Schindler’s List for the last 20 years. That’s probably the only Huge movie I haven’t seen TBH.

I've never seen the godfather 2 all the way through. I've seen the beginning, and portions of the middle and end.

- Godfathers (weird since I like Goodfellas, Casino, Untouchables and mafia movies made in the 90s+. Maybe GF movies are just too old)
- Most Disney/Pixar movies (I did enjoy Big Hero 6 and Finding Dory though. Ill only watch these if I join my nieces and nephews)
- Shreks
- Harry Potters
- Titanic
- Fast and Furious flicks (Not a car guy. Oddly I've seen Vin Diesel's XXX movies and even Witch Hunter)

Just curious for those of you who have watched Fast and Furious movies (never seen any of them as I mentioned above).

Aside from some cast continuity, there's a million of these movies. Are they all one-off kinds of plots? Or would I have to watch certain ones to understand what goes on in other sequels (plot continuity)?

Reservoir Dogs - People have told me to see this movie. Many times I have put it on list of movies to watch but for whatever reason I never get around to it.
The Raid - One that I want to eventually watch but just do not get around to watching.
Shawshank Redemption - Same as above

I am sure there are plenty of other movies that I am not thinking about at this moment.

Lots of stuff pre-80s, though i have seen a decent amount. I'm also not really a fan of mafia stuff so i missed a fair amount of those.

Been meaning to check out The Departed for a while, not sure if thats mafia related.

Res Dogs - overrated as hell. I just remember the ending as good

Shawshank - I think the first 15 min is dry, but it's a good drama flick that picks up a bit later but still a drama. Think Green Mile kind of movie without the magic dust

They are really good movies, but I always wondered if in some alternative universe Rowling decided to keep with the fantasy spirit more as the movies and books moved on - first two movies are rather light, third is a bit transitional, but fourth and so on just go very dark, it kinda kills the magic for me.
