What dev would *you* kickstart?

I would kickstart Richard Garriot to get the licensing sorted and make a proper single player Ultima X. He doesn't need the money, so just a real big kick.

Dice, even though they're backed by EA. Anything to get Mirror's Edge 2.

Atlus springs to mind since they usually don't have the cash or ability to publish their games in the EU.

As for smaller guys I would definitely donate to anything that Suda 51, Shinji Mikami and Akira Yamaoka wanted to do next. I love what I have played of Shadows of the Damned.

I'd help kickstart anyone to make Japanese style sprite based 2D platformers and Koei-style economic/political turn-based strategy games.

There are three that come to mind the quickest for me.

First would be Overworks, and I would do it so that they would be able to make Skies of Arcadia 2.

Second would be Tri-Ace for a sequel to Radiata Stories.

Third, would be Westwood, so that they would be able to come back and make a proper C&C game, something close to Tiberian Sun.

1. Obsidian: Anything at all they want to make.
2. Lawrence Holland/Totally Games: Spiritual Successor to X-Wing/Tie Fighter.
3. Volition: Freespace 3.
4. Chris Roberts: New space sim, Wing Commander/Starlancer type.
5. Toys for Bob: Star Control 4.

Judging by this thread - Nope.

Nothing wrong with sequels and remakes if it is what people want, but it's very difficult to find value with most developer names after decades of only seeing the labels or brands or franchises and nothing else. It would take time for it to start approaching what it was in the 80s and early to mid-90s for name recognition for most people who aren't already fans of certain devs. That will happen over time as more independent releases do well across the platforms available.

-A proper revival of Earthworm Jim with Douglas TenNapel at the helm. There were multiple attempts to revive this series over the last few years, but they all failed.

- A sequel to Anachronox. Tom Hall and his group at Ion Storm had plans for this one, but they fell through the cracks a long time ago. I would love to see this one get kick started.

Xseed - Trails in the Sky 2 and 3 Localization

I didn't realize there were sequels that we didn't get. I just bought the first one off my Vita a few weeks ago and have been loving it. Now I'm depressed.

And that's my answer - Xseed. Trails in the Sky 2 and 3 localization

I'd also love to get Katauri Interactive to make a new King's Bounty for the Vita

Funny enough I'd be willing to pay more towards getting them to make those games than I would pay to buy them :P

Geoff Crammond to get a new sentinel
Julian Gollop although we do have ghost recon
Supersonic software so they bring gas/fuel/whatever to every damn platform

Team ICO. Any time.

Fumito Ueda is for the taking since he just left Sony, someone contact him and ask him to start his own project on his own time >_<

Would give my right arm, but I just got the SOTC collection to play again ;)

Volition, Inc.
Red Faction: Multiplayer Sequel
Red Faction: Multiplayer Sequel
Red Faction: Multiplayer Sequel

Too good to happen :P

Those aren't even sequels, really, Trails was the First Chapter, there are two more chapters released as separate games.

And on top of that, there are actual sequels to Trails. Zero No Kiseki, Ao No Kiseki, and the upcoming Nayuto No Kiseki. So we're way, way behind.

Grasshopper Manufacture, Platinum Games, and Q Entertainment are the only companies whose games I blindly buy regardless of impressions, so obviously them.

Also probably Swery65 as long as it's something weird like Deadly Premonition.

Oh, and Eric Chahi.
I didn't play From Dust, but I loved everything else he did and would fund basically anything he'll do - But obviously I'll prefer another cinematic platformer of some sort.

You'd kickstart him, but you didn't play From Dust? Come on, man, get on that.

Also, seconded. Brilliant mofo.

Plus Jordan Mechner

I will blindly support:
Hiroshi Iuchi - Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, I don't know what you'd make but I want it!
Rieko Kodama - Especially if she can re-assemble Overworks.
Toshio Noguchi & Takehiro Honma - Thank you for EDF 2017. Gimmie something stupid fun!
Daisuke Amaya/Studio Pixel - It doesn't have to be Cave Story.
Hironobu Sakaguchi - I <3 The Gooch. STFU.
Kevin Mack, Scott Campbell - Some of the original Fallout Devs.
Jon Van Caneghem Heroes of Might and Magic III is <3
Cing The Hotel Dusk devs are too awesome to fade into obscurity. T_T
Gaia Games SWORD AND POKER 3! LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

So you want to support Eric Chahi but you didn't support Eric Chahi. Right.

When I saw Double Fine's kickstarter taking off the first dev that came to mind was Treasure. They've done all right on XBLA but this could really work for them.

I'd also like a Deadly Premonition sequel and I know Swery would be down for it. Problem is he has nowhere near the following that he'd need to pull it off.

I gave $100 to DF, would've been a bit more if I was more into graphic adventure games. However, I love DF, love the work they are doing today, and wanted to support them.

I gave $100 to Wasteland 2, would've been a bit more if I had a bit more faith in the modern output of the developers. I may up it a bit before the month is out, particularly if I have confidence it is Wasteland 2 and not Fallout 2.5 -- or Fallout 4. Keep it turn-based, party-based, third person, wide in scope and choices and consequences and I'm in for more.

I'd also gladly give $100+ to works derived from, inspired by, whatever Seven Cities of Gold, Adventure Construction Set, and Starflight.

I'd give at least $1000 to a new Ultima, in the style of Ultima IV - VI (The Age of Enlightenment). Sadly, however, EA is using that license in several ways currently and there's no way it'll get back to Richard Garriott (and I doubt he really wants to do it anyhow).

Oh, and Roadwar 2000 -- would love to see a version of that!

Chris Sawyer Transport Tycoon 2 using sim city 5 graphic engine.

I dont think I'm old enough to be a fan of a game/developer/series that is not under lock and chain by some large corporation.

Saga looks real interesting though, ex-bioware guys looking to make what seems like an original and beautiful game?

I can get in on that.

I'd kickstart EA in the face to force them to make System Shock 3, which will combine the best elements from the first two games including the return of SHODAN (even though most people are probably going to think she's a GladOS ripoff at this point).

I wouldn't mind a super linear tutorial section for people who've never played a game before, or some (toggleable) arrow which points you in the right direction, as long as I get some cyberpunk spaceship maze action with tons of hacking and cyborg asskicking.

I'd also like to have them make a new Ultima Underworld game, but I'm quite sure they'll fuck it up big time.
