Finished Alice Madness Returns. A great action platformer held back by awful performance. Screen tearing, severe frame drops and stutter plagues this otherwise excellent PS3 game. It has a great story and a great protagonist in Alice. Fun and creative level design that awards exploration. Beautiful art direction and surreal imagery. EA needs to get on with a remaster for current gen and polish it up to modern standards. This game doesn't deserve to be held prison on PS3 in this shitty state.

Just finished Final Fantasy xvi this morning ye it was pretty mid, theres some high points and a lot of cutscenes holy shit. Havent decided my next playthrough yet might just dabble in some fighting games or wow till I figure out what I'm in the mood for.

I found Labyrinth of Galleria at a very reasonable price on eBay. It's arriving this week, I checked how long to beat... 80-100 hours.

I think I may have made a terrible mistake, I just fancied a goofy dungeon crawler.

Hmm. You know, this is a good game, but it's not a great one. The more I play it, the more I can't help but feel the devs crammed way too much into it. There's a wonderful underwater metroidvania in this game, that has been completely neglected due to the huge amount of busy work. It's interesting to see the huge drop off of players as the game goes on (via the trophy list).

I intend to finish it, and go for the platinum, but I can't help but feel they messed up by not realising less would definitely be more.

Got my Warlock to level 80. Been doing a fair few delves. I've also been looking into enchanting and tailoring in order to make some decent gold. Kinda bored of gathering.

Secrets of Grindea
Adore this game. I'm near Santa's workshop. Unlocked my own little house. Great addition. Can't wait to find some decent furniture.

GOTY if it was out of early access honestly, most fun I've had in a game for ages. Mind blowing map design.

Playing COD BO6. What a beauty this game is to look at so far. Character models are insane in this game. I’m thinking that these guys would make a great Hitman knockoff playing some of these stealth missions.

Started The Lamplighters League (2023) and am enjoying it loads so far, the atmosphere is on point and the art style is right up my alley. Plays great with a controller as well! Not sure how long it will remain a positive experience though as apparently it gets quite difficult later on. I like turn-based XCOM-type games but am absolutely terrible at them lol so we'll see how it goes.

Fired up Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain today as it dropped on PS5 and to my big disappointment they didn't fix the loading times. They've fixed everything else. Resolution, filters, screen size, rewind feature and so on but the goddamn load times just had to be intact. Jfc, You had one job...

Man the puzzle to open the gold gate might be one of the coolest/cleverest puzzles ever.

Edit: Tunic that is
I finally figured this out yesterday. It had me stumped for the longest time before it finally clicked. Amazing puzzle design.

For anyone reading this, don't look it up. You don't want to be spoiled on it.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Triyng Puyo Puyo Sun 64.

Either I'm dumb, the game is hard, or both. Game's busting my puyos so far, but it's fun and has lots of charm.

Maleks Bastion now in Legacy of Kain. The adventuring goes pretty smooth so far. Even though loading screens are prevalent, they are thankfully somewhat reduced and not as obnoxious as the PS1-version thanks to the SSD. Would still prefer them to be erased, as in the PC-version.

Otherwise this is by far, the best port of the game. Instant save states and the ability to rewind are features that I really appreciate with these modern releases as they reduce a lot of the unnecessary slog that old PS1-games are plagued with. The aspect ratio has been changed and I don't have to play anymore in 4:3. Upscaled resolution is great, especially in the cut scenes that are now cleaned up and not as blurry and grainy as in the original. They've also fixed the slow framerate when you zoom out, but this could be due to the NTSC-version instead of PAL (you can choose between them). I had to play PAL-versions of games growing up because I'm European and they ran at 50hz instead if 60, which was quite awful. So having Kain run at 60 is just great.

Other modern features is the ability to play with headphones, which is great due to the kick ass soundtrack and analogue stick movement for more fluid movement. Dualsense is also much more comfortable than DS3 or the original shitty PS-controller.

So yeah, I'm pretty pleased with Blood Omen so far. Great to have it on current gen.

I tried the demo for Metaphor after all the hype about it.

I really don't think turn based rpgs are for me outside of isometric crpgs.

Eh, personal gaming preferences change over time I guess.

Banjo Tooie on NSO and Sea of Thieves on Steam Deck.

Sea of Thieves is unbelievable fun. I’m away from my Deck but I’m sure I have 30+ hours in the past 2 weeks which is unheard of for me.

Tooie is much better than I remembered, really enjoying it. Not completed it since my teenage years, so it’s fresh to me. Got to Tetradactyl Land. I’m 100% so far with the exception of the collectibles that are still move blocked to me. I don’t understand the hate that I’ve given this game over all these years, there’s only like 1, maybe 2 Jiggies on each level that require a later backtrack. It’s fine. Got Dragon Kazooie already.

Wrapping up Red Dead Redemption and working on the final achievements. It's a good as I remember, I'm happy I got to replay it on PC.

Next up is Undead Nightmare. I haven't played this yet, can't wait!

Finished Klonoa remake. It was cool to finally try these games out. Klonoa 2 was on the demo disc when I got the PS2 as a kid and I remember playing the opening level over and over again, so was fun to replay that. The mechanic of having to use enemies for attacks and traversal is interesting even though on challenge levels the controls get really frustrating. Was really surprised by the amount of plot in these games. Every level has an opening and closing cutscene.
Happy to have played them even if not among the best platform games.

Also played through Resident Evil 3 Remake. Had a blast with it. Definitely more action oriented than 2 but the settings are fun and Nemesis is a lot less annoying than Tyrant in 2.

Started Tinykin and absolutely loving it. Charming platformer with really fun exploration. I have seen some people speaking well of it on here but feels like a game more people should be checking out.

I’m playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D and having absolute blast with this game.

You would assume having lot of old school design choices would make the game boring but NOPE it super fun and it has this feel of adventure like nothing else.

I have 2 children, so games take me a long time to finish. I am currently still playing Metaphor. Hope to finish on time for Indiana Jones.

This year so far FFVII Rebirth, Astro Bot and Silent Hill 2 Remake. So one masterpiece after the next.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - I want to get through it until the second part comes out.
Dragon Quest III - almost finished, got a lot of pleasure from the game, it's a pity the game is short and easy =)

Currently started playing Half Life on Steam. I knew it's existence and importance all these years - but never really played it as I don't usually play 1st person shooters... but recent Half Life2 free release and Half LIfe1 being just a mere .99 dollars tipped me over.
Playing on normal difficulty - and am on the 1st stage, navigating sewers and etc. Just passed some jumping platform part - and wasd movement being too fast (and me not used to press shift button to walk), died many times!
Also what about all those box moving training session. Those boxes/crates move like it has no weight! Trying to align it as I wanted was rather difficult.

Thinking about re-mapping the movement on the pad analog, and just use the mouse for weapons... but before resorting to that - I am trying my best to get used to wasd movement for any future games that I may play on PC.
Not sure how long this 1st game is - as I'm extra slow-progressing gamer... but since the game is from late 90s, I highly doubt it's 100 hours long! :D

Other than that - I was playing Unicorn Overlord on Switch during my long vacation - but the text on that game was so small for my aging eyes with a lot of info dumping on any given menu screen, I kinda gave up on it until I was back home - but didn't pick it up yet.

Also started on Ys X Nordics - but saving it till I have some free time to really focus on it, as I want to enjoy it as much as I can!

Currently playing the Messanger. Am I getting good at these games or the game is actually easy? I read online that it's hard.

It can be difficult, but manageable aside from the DLC. Depends how much experience with 2D platforming you have.

Okay, things took... a very interesting turn.

Hell yeah, post some spoiler tagged reactions. I love it when people get to that part.

League of Legends.

Because Faker just won his fifth championship and Arcane Season 2. Honestly feel pretty rusty. Lots of strategies that were never there the last time I played seriously.

i'm currently playing elden ring and kingdom come deliverance.

elden ring - amazing game, but i have some issues with it, I would say they mostly have to do with my personal dark souls burn out than the game itself. For me the game map is just too big, and after 30 hours it's a little tedious and repetitive exploring and getting around, since all you're basically doing is fighting mobs from one location to the next, the loot couldve been a little better too. I also am not a big fan of the obscure questlines, It was a lot more manageable in the smaller linear earlier games, but in this one I have no clue how to complete a quest without a guide. I would've liked some guidance or at least a quest log from the game itself. I know a lot of people will disagree, but like i said its mostly due to me being burnt out on this type of game, they require a bit of attention that i cbf with atm, i've found playing in short bursts best, 1 hour here couple hours there.

Kingdome Come - about 15 hours in, it's a mixed bag for me so far, very ambitious ideas but the execution is clunky. I appreciate realistic mechanics in games but I think they go overboard in this one. It's a good game but the stuff I find annoying sometimes kills the experience. I'd definitely be more upset if i had paid full price for it.

Neighbours from Hell
Almost done Visions of Mana. Game's a little long for a game of this ilk I think. It's not too bad, but I prefer games like this a bit shorter.

Bought Armored Core 6 on sale. I never had interest in it, but so many people rave about it and thought I'd give it a chance. I don't usually like mech games like this though. Maybe it'll be different.

Need one more achievement on NFS Heat and I'll be done with that. It's an online one though so I'll have to wait until a friend's online so we can hammer that one out, together. (no homo) So yeah got about 36+ hours of playtime out of that one, didn't expect that.

Before continuing my playthrough of the new-gen NFS games with Unbounded though I decided to jump over to the GRID series, of which I have only played the very first one. So now am about 4 hours into Grid 2 (2023) and it's crazy to see how good that game still looks but more of all how it feels to play. The handling model along with the very detailed rumble on the Elite controller is just chef's kiss.
