I might start reading Revalation Space next year, but when it comes to hard Sci Fi, I want to get through lot of The Commonwealth Saga (Peter F Hamilton)
I'm currently making a list of what I want to read for the first three to six months of 2026 and I'll add the first book to Revelation Space
Blackwater, Books of Blood and King Sorrow are my horror reads of 2026. I like Stephen King but I want to read other horror authors. And yeah I've been hearing lot of good stuff about Blackwater
Do you watch Booktube? I reccomand Mike's Book Reviews, I discovered lot of books through him

What time is it?
I just purchased some vintage (made in Canada) Sorel Caribou (used) and Sorel Crusader (new) boots. My brother bought me a pair of Caribou in 97 on a snow mobiling trip and I still use them every winter for shoveling snow off my sidewalks/driveway. With my weight loss kick this year, I've been doing two 2.5 mile walks every day and wanted something for when the weather gets nasty and without wearing out my trusty pair. I've heard Sorel's quality started to dip in the 2000s when they shifted production out of the US/Canada which is why I hunted down the vintage pairs.

I just purchased a houseboat that is docked in Marina Del Rey California. It's a 1980 built boat and is pretty basic, but it opens up the whole area to me, as I have Venice Beach, the canals, the Santa Monica Pier and Santa Monica Beach within walking / biking distance. Can only sleep on the boat 3 out of 7nights, otherwise I have to convert to a live-in lease, but damn is it going to be nice to spend evenings seeing the sun set, and then the sun rise in a marina.

I used to have that exact figure back in the 90s ! Good timesThere's a story behind my most recent purchase, as it is over 30 years in the making.
In the early 90s when I was probably 7-9 years old I went to the local strip mall with my parents, which was pretty bustling back in the day lots of people there and that same strip mall now is a ghost town because of online shopping and such. Different times. But anyway we were going to different stores and I stopped at Kay Bee toys. They used to have these large bins with a bunch of different toys all piled in there. I don't remember if they were clearance bins or just where they put toys they didn't have room to hang on the walls, but they had a bunch of them. And even had some bins outside the store up against the wall in the summer... I guess stores were more trustworthy back then. I was digging through one of the bins and saw a figure of my favorite comic book character. I was like oooh I really want this. But my parents were calling me to go to the next store, so I put it back in the bin toward he bottom and piled a bunch of toys on top of it so it would stay hidden. I asked my parents if I could go back and get it on the way back to the car and they said yeah.
So about 20 minutes or so later after we went into another store, we were headed back toward Kay Bee again and I went in to get the figure and I couldn't find it. Then I was like damn did I misremember what bin it was in? So I dug through all the bins and I could not for the life of me find it. I thought at the time it would've been so unlikely that someone happened to dig through that same bin and buy that same figure during those 20 minutes we were in the other store. My parents gave me like 15 minutes to try and find it and eventually I just gave up and went home. They said next time we go back to Kay Bee, hopefully we'll find it and we'll get it for you. Over the years and months, whenever we went to Toys R Us or Kay Bee or Clover(remember Clover back in the day?) and any other store that had toys, I'd make a b line to the toy section and look for that figure and could never find it. I asked for it for Christmas and my birthday every year for multiple years and every year they told me they couldn't find that figure anywhere. I looked for it at every store I went to until I was like 14 or 15 and eventually gave up. I never saw that figure ever again. That one time where I pulled it out of that bin and held it for a few seconds before putting it in that bin was the only time I ever saw that figure in person. It was my white whale of toys.
Finally was able to get one all these years later. Closure, over 30 years in the making! The figure?

I have those Steinbeck novels! They are masterpieces. I wonder if he knew when he was writing them that they would be considered classics and inspire millions.

I'm hoping to get to one of those books for next year. When it comes to Steinback, do I have to read The Grapes of Wrath first or East of Eden? When it comes to reading, I tend to read lot of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror but I try to read outside those genres.

Nice. They aren't related in any way, so the order is up to you. I would say since you like sci fi, East of Eden would be a good start as it is a little more mythic (although Grapes of Wrath is also mythical in a real world way). The language, the imagery in both are absolutely breathtaking though. Steinbeck is like reading poetry in prose form.

I had a hard time reading through Of Mice And Men. I hope the dialogue isn't as hard to get into when it comes to those two other books

Oh! Of Mice and Men is one of Steinbeck's simpler books. The language isn't hard, because he uses simple words, even in his epic novels, but these books are definitely more advanced than Of Mice and Men.

I can read complex books but it was just the slang whenever the characters were talking was hard for me to understand. But yeah I'll let you know what I think once I'm able to get through one of his books. Thanks for the heads up though

Finally got it in time. I got an email saying it was back in stock and I bought it maybe 20 minutes later, and not even an hour after that it's sold out. Supposedly it smells like the original 2009-2011 formulation from YSL. People pay a lot of money for the vintage stuff so its always been hard for me to get, but ive always eventually managed to find some up until recently where its getting harder and harder.
Forget even finding the original formulation from ysl on ebay, even the later reformulations still go for a good chunk. I believe anything 2015 and after is the new watered down formulation, you can tell just by the smell and color, its very obvious. Now you're telling me this version outperforms the current one ysl has, and even competes with their best formulation they ever made of it, and costs $45?
Surprised how fast it went, I should have bought more than I did. Wish they did something similar with gucci pour homme 2 which at the moment sells for $400-$500 for a full bottle, original price was like $60, absolutely disgusting.

I moved a couple of weeks ago from an apartment to a single-family house, and in just the past few days I've already caught three during last night.
There was one in my bedroom last night too. Of course I couldn't find it afterward, so I ended up moving my entire bedroom to another room in the middle of the night

Indeed. Between different models and color ways, it is hard choosing a winner. From the Metro to the Zurich World Timer to the Ahoi Neomatik and etc.
It goes against my philosophy to buy a second one, but it sure is tempting.

Update with a video of our houseboat purchase. All of the prior owner's property has been removed and it looks like this thread will be updated with more and more new purchases. First goal is a Murphy bed to maximize space!

I'm not judging, but are you gay? Because that's the only way I can see a man using YSL. Although I got Channel Allure Sport for Christmas and I know who the bastard was that for me this. Off to eBay it goes once I'm back home.

The only book I was ever TRULY interested in when it comes to his work. After the original tv series, the movies (both old and the 2 reboots) and the current tv series, I thought it was about time I'd get myself the book.
So I went to a bookstore and came across this limited edition cover art and went home with it. Looks pretty stunning. The paper sailboat is on the bottom and a boot of George on the top. And on the side, as you can see, is Pennywise.
