What is a mouse? A miserable pile of circuits (or: what mouse are you using?)

What's the best mouse with buttons on the side that are mappable to keypad buttons?

Was thinking of getting one so I could replay indiana jones and the last crusade without a keyboard on scummvm - the keypad buttons are nessecary for the occasional fisticuff sessions.

pure laziness I know

Why are you wrong about literally everything you ever post about?

Well...

Using same trackball as well.

I'm using the same one.

I've been using trackballs since I was a kid. I hate it whenever I have to use mice at school or work.

I've grown to love this mouse... I doubt I will ever use a regular mouse again!

Logitech M570 on couch/bed

Yeah, looks like a modified version of the Logitech G9/X. Brilliant mouse, by far the best I've used...although I do have a claw grip so I'm not keen on bigger mice like the MX518.

G9/G9X is goat. Too bad they stopped making them without any similar replacements.

Zowie FK.

This is what I have as well. I really like it. It is a high quality, basic mouse.

I had a Razer Naga before this one, and like all other Razer products I have owned, it died within 2 years. Razer build quality is absolute shit.

It was between the Zowie FK and the Logitech mouse that has the buttons on the side like the Naga.... I don't play many MMO's these days so I opted for the Zowie.

Logitech M570 Trackball.

Been using trackballs since the 1990s
Mice are so inferior.

This is what I use for my laptop on the couch. It works extremely well and didn't take long to get used to.

Logitech G502 Proteus Core. Best one I've ever had. I loved my G500 mice but they died so fast (I've gone through three of them).

(By the way, Razer is universally shit. Never again)

Logitech-G502-1.jpg

I second the G502. The only complaint I have is that the dpi buttons are easy to hit but easily the best mouse ive used. Beats the crap out of the garbage G400 I had been using.

Logitech G400 here. It's dieing on me though.. Freezes every once in awhile :( Hesitant to buy the new model because of how ugly they made it...

I've been using the Logitech MX Revolution for the last 5+ years. Probably longer.

00350172-photo-souris-trackball-logitech-mx-revolution.jpg

I have two and it's served me well... just when I think it's finally going to bite the dust, it gets a second wind and lasts me a few more years. When this thing finally goes I'll be sad. It's not a gaming mouse though, probably has too much input lag for that.

Somebody once stole one from my desk at my old job... But they didn't take the wireless senser or the charging caddy... so they stole a $100 mouse that they couldn't use and would die after about a week.

I bought a Logitech MX510 waaaaaaaaay back in 2004. Still works, although some of the surface finish is a bit....peeling.

I'll probably upgrade to....whatever's the same shape and from Logitech but Wireless....at some point. Wireless mice are nice.

Same. This is what I've been using since 2009. It's on it's last legs, bit worn out, takes a good deal of fidgeting to get it to sit right in the charger to actually charge. But I just love the feel and design and button placement. I barely notice it in my hand anymore. Input lag is fine by me since I don't really play any online games nor many twitch single player FPSs so I've never noticed or had an issue gaming with it.

A Logitech M555b. Because it has fucking Bluetooth.

71822-souris-logitech-blutooth-defilement-ultrarapide-m555b.jpg

Seriously why every wireless mouse in the world comes with its own proprietary wireless adapter? Bluetooth was invented exactly for that, and works perfectly. I don't need a separate wireless adapters for my mouse, for my keyboard, for my game controller...

Used a G500 for years until I wore out one of the microswitches. After that I decided i'd try something new, went with the Corsair M65 and hated the shape of it, so I sold it and bought a G500S.

I'll probably always use a variation of the G500, perfect shape for me.

I'm with you on this. When I'm out I use a Surface Pro, and because it only has a single USB port, I didn't want to fill it up with an adapter. It's so hard to find a decent bluetooth mouse.

Yeha it might be fine for games I was just guessing... Always seemed a little slow for me when playing a casual FPS or something.

The biggest thing I'll miss is the free wheel mouse. I don't think that any other logitech mouse has the free wheel anymore. This mouse has it all.

They're still up on amazon for like $58. I might pick one up and the logitech site still has them for 100, though both are a slightly newer model. Amazon does have the original but for like 130 from other sellers.

The cheapest symmetric optical wireless mouse i could find, which is Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000.
Good enough for me, though all the rubber grips (sides and the wheel) are gone. And the side-button is pointless, it defaults to "previous page" (why?, i don't need that) and practically no game recognizes it, which is unfortunate as the wheel is utterly unusable as a button in games (awkward to click, takes too much force when speed is required).

While Bluetooth is obviously ideal, the Logitech Unifying Receiver is a great alternative, since, it works with a whole bunch of different Logitech products.

Works with any Logitech product with that orange star thing on it (up to like 16 at a time or something, I don't recall exactly).

Truth. I bought a couple of spares at clearance prices ($25 or so) when I heard they were being discontinued because there's literally nothing like it in terms of shape on the market.

I got the Roccat Kone Pure Optical 4000DPI (using 1200DPI to get the best response from the sensor)
I am very happy with it for classic gaming, I dont play MMOs!
(now they have a 5000dpi version called the military)

Before this i had the Logitech G5 as my gamer mouse (i have tried alot of wireless options, but in my opinion they all suck)

Steelseries Sensei Raw

Mouse feels and looks good but something about the sensor just goes crazy sometimes for no reason I can think of. Prior to this I had a couple MX518 and original Deathadder, both of which I had few problems with until their unfortunate demise.

Add one more to the Logitech Trackball crowd. Mainly for general navigation, and for playing any games that aren't First- or Third- person.

I have a RAT3 for playing shooty games, and I have no problem with that at all.

The mouse wheel on the G502 is atrocious. Really liked the mouse otherwise but I had to give it back because I couldn't consistently press the wheel without triggering an up or down scroll. I noticed the same problem on my old G5 mouse. I suppose this is a common thing with Logitech mice.

I had the D3 SS til it died than got the raw which is pretty much like the D3. I never had this sensor issue (unless I hit the dang DPI button where it sets it to max and I go all rambo). All other mouses I had died within a year but not my D3. It even lost its paint.

So I got the slightly newer rubberized sensei raw.

Love it and the software for it. And still 7 buttons ftw!

Trackball, since college and probably forever. Simple conservation of energy. Why move the whole hand to navigate when a thumb will do.

I have to use the Razer Naga forever now, I love it and since I got used to it I can't go back. Just too useful for everything.

contribute something
I prefer trackpads when I'm not playing an FPS.

Index finger on the space bar and thumb on the trackpad is a lot more natural to me.

I have that special edition 3.5g razer deathadder with blue leds. It's been a great mouse over all these years. It's dirty, gunky, and the bottom is wore out but it still works perfectly.

When I bought my laptop I went out and purchased a logitech g602 and I'm in love with it. It's only a 2500 dpi mouse but that suits me just fine as I have my razer set to 2500 dpi as well. Like the other poster said, I've had it for a few months and haven't changed the original batteries yet. Love the rubberized surface, it feels so weird to go back to the deathadder.

I've got a Kensington K72369EU.

It gets the job done and is really comfortable, but I want to replace it for one with a perfect sensor soon. The rubber on the side is completely worn down now as well.

Mionix Naos 7000

Best mouse ever. Super comfortable, great sensor.

Also have a Deathadder 2013 as a backup. It's pretty good, but not as comfortable as Naos 7000.

edit- ^^^ that what is a human line from castlevania.

G700. I never use it wireless because the battery will last a day. Other than that it's fine.
This.

At first I hated the rough texture on the side but I've grown to really like it.

Great mouse with lots of useful buttons that I use daily.

Battery life is terrible though.

If they made an RGB Razer Naga 2014, I'd sell my soul for it. Though I infinitely love the way the Corsair M45 / M65 feels.

Right now I'm using a Razer Naga Molten.

That's the one I ended up with after wanting something new (optical) after the lovely G9. So far, so very good.

I've owned a few mice in my day. May main mouse I was using on my desktop was an ~8 year old Microsoft Intellimouse. Shockingly good mouse that I'd unfortunately begun to have tracking issues with. Tried to clean the lens but didn't seem to make a difference.

OGUmzEk.jpg

Same thing happened to me.
I ended up getting a Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse and see no need to change.

After coming home with sore hands every day, I decided to get this for work:
Ergonomice Comfi

It took a few days to get used to, but now I wouldn't go without it at all. Plus, my hands don't hurt anymore!

For home, I just use the Microsoft 4000. I love it.
