It goes without saying that this lie propagated has been so successfully integrated into the mind of gullible people that they actually think this is somehow not completely Hitler-esque horror.
Whether I am a mod or not, the same will hold true whether you like it or not.
To me that means it has to be, 1) something "historically significant", that is, impacted the course of world events in an obvious way; 2) Blatantly dishonest, meaning the person stating it KNEW it was false; 3) Made by any human being, meaning it would be nice if we had a specific person to attribute the lie to (rather than just, say, "the Romans" or "American history books" or whatever). What does GAF think is the single most historically significant, blatantly dishonest statement ever made by any human being, ever?

2.You're being a prick about something that is a huge fucking deal to people in the way you're making your statements
3.Your statements in the way they are phrased will bait in argument.
4.There are many threads to pick from for you to make your claim that religion specifically Abrahamic religions have done more harm than good, this is not one of them nor was it meant to become one of them.
I have nothing else to say on this subject. I'm not going to contribute any further to derailing this thread by arguing with you or any other people who chose to deliberately ignore the OP and post about religion anyway.
"And just to pre-empt the inevitable deluge of smart-arse comments about the Bible, 9/11 or some other cynical political bollocks like that, I'm talking about one specific thing a person has said that has been comprehensively proven to be false."
Umm, where did you get this all this information exactly?Amir0x said:A god who has variously endorsed pedophilia, rape, genocide, human sacrifice as "penance" for others sins, infanticide is about as vile a character as I can imagine.
Amir0x said:He can say what he wants, but his premise is wrong. Believe me, I read the whole OP.
The Bible collectively is the lies of many individuals, which HAVE all comprehensively been proven false. So his premise is false, there's nothing smarmy about including it on the list by his own standards. He just wants to arbitrarily deny it access because, for better or worse, people like you don't like hearing mean things said about your religion.
But, whether it's personal or not, saying factual things that are factually in the Bible which are factually grotesque never will be, "being a prick about something that is a huge fucking deal to people." The mere fact that it is a huge deal to people does not absolve it from criticism

Mael said:So when the OP specifically calls for no talk on the Bible or 9/11 conspiracy you go and post stuffs relating directly to the Bible or 9/11?
Because you know your argument could be made for 9/11 conspiracy theories too.
Akkad said:Silly me, I thought people would read the OP.
Amir0x said:My answer to the question was not "The Bible" although my argument would certainly be that without the ridiculous limitations on the question, it would be. Mine was Gulf of Tonkin or Bernie Madoff, something like that. I was responding to someone who brought up that Jesus said he was the son of a virgin - a mistranslation of the Bible. And also agreeing with that individual that were the terms of this thread not so absurd, that would indeed be the big lie.
Later posts merely justify the point.
