What is your dream game?

I got one more. Batman did it right. So did Spider-Man. Now it's time for the original cape to get it right. It's time for...

SUPERMAN!
(Done right.)

Superman is one of those characters that just don't fit well in a video game. Either you nerf him, or you have an invincible main character. Except, does this HAVE to be true? Can you make a Superman game with a good Man of Steel, yet still have some challenge in it? I mean, Superman has potential. You'd get to BE Superman. Stop speeding trains, save Lois Lane, catch falling helicopers, save Lois Lane, fight giant space-robots, save Lois Lane, and prevent planes from crashing. And that's just a small sample of what Superman does.

I'm thinking an open-world game at about Just Cause 2 scale. You'd have Metropolis and the surrounding areas. Using super vision and super hearing, Superman can find crimes in progress and stop them, or locate citizens in need. Of course, being the new big man of Metropolis is going to make Mr. Luthor angry... Which sets up the plot. Superman does Superman things and Lex plots in the background, while an assortment of bad guys show up regularly in the story to provide boss fights and big battles. Like Brainiac.

Can Superman be done right? Of course, and I want to play it.

+1

A mix between Dark Souls and Zelda.

I like the combat, tone, difficulty, enemies and world of Dark Souls but I want the towns, puzzles, side quests, hidden fairy fountains, caves with bats, gadgets, bombs, etc. of Zelda. I also want Dualshock controls.

An enormous RPG set in space with a massive galaxy of content and an insane level of customization from my crew to my ship. Kind of like Infinite Space meets Star Trek Online meets the X games meets that FTL thing.

As it stands right now, "The Last of Us" is probably my dream game, if it's done right.
For a long time I've wanted a cinematic zombie survival game, concentrating on the survival aspect and story. This game might actually deliver, so I'm pretty excited.

3 of them.

Nintendo Vs. Capcom

SSB RPG

and a Video game fighter that includes almost every iconic video game mascot to date in one game, this won't happen because of multi-platform problems.

A four player fighter similar to Smash Bros. that is filled with mascots of Nintendo vs. Sony vs. Mircosoft vs. SEGA. With Atari and Neo Geo characters hidden deep within the game as unlockables. Just to see the nerd reaction.

Massively multiplayer X-Wing game with player pilotable capital ships and fleet on fleet PvP battles featuring hundreds of players per side with entirely skill based combat.

Leisure Suit Larry 4, using the SCI engine (same as LSL3 uses). Basically a new LSL3 game =) I would pay much for that game. A new Monkey Island game with the same graphical style as either Monkey Island 1, 2 or 3 would be amazing as well.

The original Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory, using Bethesda's Skyrim assets.

Keep all the original stuff (dialogue, characters, settings, etc) but gloss it up.

I'd never need another video game ever again.

Skyrim set in the Blade Runner universe.

And I'm still waiting for my survival zombie game where I'm alone in a full size city with hordes of zombies and have to scavenge for food and weapons and also scope out safe places to sleep so they won't eat my brains while I'm sleeping.

Saints Row with the production of the most expensive game with $0 wasted on marketing for maximum effect. In development for 6 years, and has a scarily huge world. Everything and the kitchen sink is in this game. So much content that skyrim doesn't reach half of what it contains. I shall play this game for the rest of my life. Every other game will be obsolete.

I'm old...

A proper follow-up (not a spiritual successor or remake) to the Archon series, complete with oldschool graphics/music mode.

I'd take an HD Bard's Tale Trilogy remake. Has to be grid/turn-based just like the originals. My best memories from that series were the wonderful monster animations. Thinking about those designs done with today's tech would be amazing. Throw in a fun character/hex editor for kicks.

That's all, really.

my dream game has more or less already been made, and it's called Shadow Complex.

My personal idea, really, was basically metroid mashed up with contra, with a foreground/background mechanic like the fences in the SMW fortresses that you could switch at will to help dodge enemy fire. My original concept that I made in a notebook oh so many years ago was a more exploratory version of Abuse without the level transitions and a much MUCH larger world. The addition of metroid upgrade and foreground background ideas came later. It feels like a kitchen sink game in my head, but in one of those "brilliant mess" kind of ways.

if my idea gets stole'd I'll be so pissed and have no one to blame but myself. :-/

It's already been said, but Shenmue 3, in HD.

Aside from that, a AAA, big-budget, 3D Bonk game, similar in style to the Banjo Kazooie games.

My dream game is a console ego shooter (probably for Wii U) with pointer controls set in the aliens/predator universe.

The controls should be as tight and customizable as the Conduit 1/2 or the other good motion control shooters (Red Steel and such).

It would basically be an Alien vs Predator 2 Reboot/Reimagination. Very faithful to the looks of Alien 1 - 3 and Predator 1 -2 the movies.

Gameplaywise, it would be as polished and balanced as AJL mod (fucking best AVP2 mod nobody knows about and definitely one of the best/most fun ALIEN/Predator movie-athomsphere multiplayer game experiences out there - unfortunately played by only a handful of people) and be centered around surviving.

The graphics would be good looking, but very dark.

You could play all three races, with a story as suspensful and cool as in the original AVP2.

Maybe there would be some gameplay elements from Aliens Infestation, like, you just have a limited amount of marines, and if all are dead, you're dead as well.

It would have a cool Multiplayer were you could earn points for doing certain things like in CoD, BUT only with a twist. The most points you would earn by playing alien/predator movie-like.

For example:

Alien: would get MORE experience points by sneaking up on people, attack them from the back, instead of just killing them. There would be a scare meter. Hising in the dark, while observing your enemy and not having been spotted, would increase the scare-meter. Killing an enemy with full scare meter would earn you even more points.

The points would be used to unleash kill streaks, like a temporary paranoia-like experience for all the marine players, where they would see shadows on the walls and stuff, with altered audio (some environmental sounds would be louder than others), movement would be diffent, etc. Or you could call alien reinforcments that would jump out of ventilation shafts etc.

For the Predator there would be some honor system. Not a forced one. Everyone could play like they want, but wouldn't gain that much experience to customize/unlock their characters if they didn't abide by the rules.

Marines would be different though. Their main object would be to survive and reach things (generator, control rooms)/repair them/securing an area/making it to another area etc.

There would be two multiplayer gameplay systems: first more arcade-like, second more movie-like (like a hardcore mode).

In this game motion controls would be very important. Because it's more precise, it would allow for better enemy AI. Aliens would be damn fast, so that you didn't have too much time to take them out.
Playing as predator would be much cooler. Same for the alien.

Doing the mission objectives (like reparing stuff/closing doors and whatnot) would be much cooler that way. In the heat of the fight, or some exciting gameplay, it wouldn't be so easy to keep a steady hand, which would make it even better.

In singleplayer mode (while connected to the internet) people could join YOUR game as opponents (say aliens) and chase you down in the campain as a regular enemy if that option is enabled.

Man, such a game would be so cool...

Another dream game of mine would be A Song of Ice and Fire game by Bethesda, featuring the likeness and voices of the HBO cast. No character creation - you choose a character and follow their quest line throughout the books.

Dream game?...

There are a few, but one of them would be..

- An Elder Scrolls game with the whole Tamriel available.
- Without major bugs and better collision system.
- Fighting system like in Demon's Souls / Dark Souls

This (especially the bolded part) + an improved version of Demon/Dark Souls online component where you can do co-op questing, PVP etc. + the best voice actors in the industry + best writers/storytellers in the industry = ultimate GOTF.

A perfected DBZ game that plays like Zone of the Enders and open world.

Spiderman on Arkham City Tier.

Shenmue 3.

A real RPG Pokemon game on a Console.

It's not the best idea ever (in fact, I'm well aware it's unmarketable junk), but I think it'll always be the game I want to be released most, and I wish I could find the original EXE of what started the idea:

There was an old tech demo that came with some of the early Windows NT operating systems a while back; I actually think it might've only been on Windows ME corporate licenses or something, which would certainly explain why I have so much trouble finding any information at all on it.

In the demo, you were a (fairly well rendered for the time) 3D skiier, constantly going down a polygonal mountain that never ended. I believe skiing to the left and right caused procedurally generated terrain to create itself as you skiied, and there was an (instructor/ski patrol?) who would randomly show up and ski next to you, but you went quite a bit faster than him.

This boggled my 3rd or 4th grade mind when I first saw it. I'd seen 3D games before, plenty of them, but the idea of an infinite mountain just somehow.... clicked with me.

So I began drawing up box art sketches and gameplay plans of what I wanted it to be as a full release game. I'll never find the pad of paper it was all written on, so here's a quick writeup of what the game would entail (with certain ideas changed since 4th graders don't make the best game designers):

1: The mountain never ends, but your actions within it can slowly change how you interact with it, what it looks like, and what happens on it.

2: The plot is mostly discovered through lore and short, confusing interactions with NPCs. It's strongly implied you're a comatose ski patroller stuck in an avalanche/dead an in a sort of purgatory/whatever.

3: For the initial ~hour of gameplay, it's disguised as a regular snowboarding game. You can do tricks (as there's no HUD, all controls are either obvious or laid out in the instruction manual), and there will be a "points" indicator on the main character's wristwatch.

4: As you progress in the game (aka, ski down the goddamned mountain) you start to find subtle changes in the landscape: you might find a skiier trapped in a cave and freezing to death, a small commune of people living on a flat section of the mountain's surface, a silent man in a GS suit who implies he wants to race you, etc.

5: Progession means interacting with these people, attempting to make sense of what they're saying, and performing tasks for them that range from finding a way to produce fire to help a man combat hypothermia (in traditional point-and-click fashion - everything you need will be in the cave) to simply winning a ski race.

6: Completing these random tasks will reward you with a few things. For one, the game will start to produce more "advanced" scenarios for you. Second, you'll be rewarded with various items/badges to throw on your coat. These will, for the most part, remove limitations to the game.

For example, when you start the game, you're unable to go backwards at a rate fast enough to ever make it anywhere, unable to remove your skis, unable to fight anyone, etc.

All of this would be unlocked as you complete objectives.

7: The mid-late game would mainly consist of wandering around entire snowy towns full of people, inexplicably carved into the mountain face, and beginning to seem less and less plausible. Combat would eventually spring up and magic would likely become a factor, but the easiest (if not only) method of combat for the most part would be running from whatever causing you trouble... Which in itself won't be simple, as the terrain gets more and more crowded as the game progresses.

I'm not sure why I want to play an "advanced" version of a really boring tech demo that came with Windows ME so much. Maybe I'm just weird.

EDIT ^^^ There was a 3D SkiFree type game??

I want the next Valkyria Chronicles to take a few pages from more "traditional" SRPGs like Fire Emblem and Shining Force. Bear in mind I've only played VC1.

-Make EXP given after chapters based on the enemies you killed, and a smaller amount based on how many turns you took. Basically the opposite of what it is now, where EXP is given based on turn count and a smaller amount for certain enemies.
-Instead of just going from battle to battle, have villages and stuff to explore also, like Shining Force and Fire Emblem 2. There could be shops and NPCs to talk to and even people to recruit.
-On that note, I'd like to see people recruited in more unique ways, rather than just enlisting and appearing on a list. They don't even have to be formal military people, just you commanding some informal fighting force and people just join. No need for uniforms, even. Like Fire Emblem, I guess. I'd love to have my units fighting in civilian clothing. So basically I guess I want VC to ditch the formal military setting.
-Flying units? I dunno.

I've got a few:

Legend of Zelda game published by Nintendo and designed by From Software including co-op questing, PvP, Pure White & Pure Black Tendency like events, the works

Superman game like Batman: Arkham City
No flying through rings and time limits! WayneTech Augmented Reality training is like that....

Resistance Vs. Killzone game, Nathan Hale and Rico battle for the biggest douchebag award and the Helghast & ISS team up against the Chimera invading their world

Indiana Jones game like Uncharted and Tomb Raider set pre-Raiders of the Lost Ark

Dino Crisis game with Resident Evil 4 gameplay

Blasto game like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

The Legend of Zelda
Animation and character/environment designs by Studio Gibi
Fumito Ueda as director
Retro Studio as developer (I always loved the amount of detail they put into the world of Metroid Prime)

And my other dream game I still hold out hope for:

Mario and Sonic platformer
Shigeru Miyamoto and Yuji Naka overseeing the project.
Side scrolling levels a hybrid of Mario-esque exploration and whimsy, and Sonic-like speed sections with techo environments. 3D levels that are a decent mix between SMG and Sonic Generations.

God Hand 2 by Platinum Games with Shinji Mikami and Kamiya on an HD console

Viewtiful Joe 3 Platinum Games with Shinji Mikami and Kamiya on an HD console

Skies of Arcadia 2 by the team behind Valkyria Chronicles on an HD console with more bounties, ship battles, ship parts, crew members that can also be party members, more interesting weapons system, and with extra content for multiple play-throughs.

Vanquish 2 by Platinum Games with Shinji Mikami and Kamiya

Bayonetta 2 by Platinum Games with Shinji Mikami and Kamiya

A console pokemon game that works like the handheld main iterations where you can go to any region, choose any starter. In the game you can visit two regions but all of them are included which gives incentives to multiple playthroughs. Also there are multiple save files so you can start a new adventure without having to delete the old save.

A space pirate version of Skies of Arcadia game I mentioned above.

FFIX remake in HD with added content to develop Amarant's character more along with other additional content like maybe exploring the second planet more.

Rollercoaster tycoon 4. With the added options of creating hotels, transportation to parks and other non park facilities (think Walt Disney World).

Mass Effect (or something like it) with say 40 or so solar systems. Each solar system with at least one point of interest. They could be space stations, inhabited worlds, massive cities whatever. I can pilot my ship around these solar systems and engage in combat, check out derelict vessels whatever. Side quests would be deeply fleshed out like a non-arc Star Trek or Farscape episode (self-contained but meaningful, lengthy and interesting). Focus on building up and customizing your character, team, ship and weapons load out.

1. New Vegas on steroids. Double the factions, triple the map size, triple the amount of quests, etc. Wouldn't even need to have much improved in terms of graphics, game systems, etc.

2. Something like Technomancer mentioned. Open world space game that has an interesting story line, heaps of side missions be it trading, bounty hunting, pirating, etc. Sort of like Mass Effect meets Darkstar One.

3. A more granular GTA. Make it possible to enter every building (cut & paste a bunch of interiors) and just have an extra level of detail in the world. Make it hard and take a long time to earn your way up the ranks so that side mission stuff like muggings and the like become a viable way to save up for that next level weapon or even have perks ala SR3 so that the more you level the more cash and power you have.

Hyperdimension Neptunia made by GUST.

We still have all the cute girls, but now it has great graphics and amazing music.

I have a couple but i'll go with a sort of "non-game" idea. I want a "video game" that takes place in one set of property that includes a house and yard etc. The twist is that the entire thing is simulated to real life. You can pick up grass, dirt. Dig forever down for no reason. You could pick up and push every object in the house itself. You could smash the walls. Pretty much everything you would find in your house could be found in this game and all the things you could do in real life could be done in the game. This isn't a commercial product it's a scientific experiment essentially. Just to see how possible it is to simulate reality.

Looking at the VC3 artbook, there is a large number of character art for Selvaria Bles. It seems that the developers at Sega really like this character. They should give in to what they like and just make a full blown game starring her, it should be like the DLC but with more background and a more fleshed out storyline.

Just call it Selvaria Chronicles and get it over with.

My dream game would probably be Street Fighter Vs King of Fighters.
(I say that, as opposed to CvS3, as i don't want any Darkstalkers/SamSho or otherwise 'wacky'/out of place characters in there, maybe chars from say Rival Schools or Fighter's History, but i want regular fighters).

2D, high res, extremely well animated. Not overly stylised, no huge hands/feet or ridiculous body proportions or blobby KoFXIII girls faces.
More along the style of the older KoF games and SF2 series.

Back to basics gameplay. Supers and EX moves, yes.
Parries/focus attacks/comeback mechanics, no.

Tight controls, but no 1-frame-link impossible to pull off combos.

Full roster from each game, I mean around 60 chars per side.

Balanced so that every character is viable. Perfect netcode.

I don't think i'd ever need to play anything else.

Dark Souls combat/gameplay with Skyrim's world, quests, and other systems. Bug free.

Skyward Sword in HD with traditional controls.

Think I need to dream bigger.

An NFL MMO. Basically you'd have full teams of real players playing every position. Somehow all aspects (for each position) would be entertaining. Everything from blocking, to kicking, maybe even somehow coaching would be player controlled and would have skill-needed gameplay.

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s there were a few attempts at making a RTS where you could get in and control single units. They were a little too big for their britches back then, but I always enjoyed them.

I would love something like Warcraft 3 where when you played 2v2, one person did the RTS stuff and the other person was on the ground as the hero, with controls as tight as something like bayonetta or god of war (though not as over the top, obviously). If you could then add a layer on top of this game with a persistent war between factions and fighting over a map online... with some civilization stuff thrown in. And maybe daily quests that were spin offs of RTS games, like tower defense or a dota-like battle.

Put all that together, in a persistent online world... like humans vs orcs or some crap. Hell, even add a mini game to help your side gather resources and put it out on ios/android.

I don't know if ive explained this well enough. But in my mind it's awesome :)

I'd like the original team from Retro that made Metroid Prime(the first) to have alternatively made a 2D Metroid game. I wouldn't not want Metroid Prime as is, because it's close to being my favorite game of all time. I would just simply like to see/play what they would've done with the 2D formula.

Resident Evil 2 remake - done right after the first remake came out with the same use of pre-rendered backgrounds. Christ. My excitement even thinking about it is hard to contain. Darkside Chronicles doesn't count at all. It kind of makes things worse because I can't walk around the environments myself and just soak in the atmosphere.

Another SHMUP from Treasure.

Not be to too general and defeat the purpose of the thread, but I want just want another game that just blows my mind. This generation has really been lacking that experience for me. I realize that a lot of that is my having a jaded attitude a lot of the time, but regardless, I want to be truly wowed.

Ex. 2001. High school. My brother and I know we're getting a new console for Christmas, but we can't decide what we want. We were leaning towards a Gamecube because we had a 64 and I think it just seemed like the safe pick. That autumn we went to a Gamestop and were looking around and stuff when a trailer for Devil May Cry came on. I had never heard of the game, and that trailer blew my fucking mind. At the time I literally couldn't imagine a game being any cooler. I told my brother that day we had to get a PS2, which he was thankfully cool with. We also got MGS2 that Christmas, which was equally mind blowing for me. The 64 simply didn't offer experiences like those, so that initial period of owning a PS2 really blew me away. I want that again; not a fucking HD version of what is already great.
