What the hell is Working Designs doing now?

I'm betting something for PSP in the not too distant future. Vic seems really into the machine but I'm not sure what's there for him to pick up really...

-PoPoLoCrois: Already picked up by Tommo.
-Tenchi no Mon: Likely to get picked up by SCEA.
-Tales of Eternia: Namco's too tough to deal with, plus they'd probably release it themselves anyway.
-Ys VI: Konami Digital's already confirmed it.
-Princess Crown: Maybe... but I'd expect Atlus USA to hold on to it.
-Persona: same
-Generation of Chaos IV: Looks like crap plus Vic's spoken out against the series before
-Makai Wars: canceled.
-Eiyuu Densetsu series: Looks like crap plus Bandai is tough to work with.
-Tengai Makyo: Hudson's too much to deal with too evidently.
-CC FFVIII: HA!
-King's Field: Doubt WD would want it.
-Project Econia: Maybe... but it's Korean. :/

...I dunno, I'm just not seeing a lot for WD to seriously consider yet. Hopefully Vic wises up and decides to bring us Goemon DS while waiting for some decent, available PSP RPGs. :)

Why does Working Designs have to release nothing but RPGs? They've brought out games like Parasol Stars and (crap like) Silpheed TLP in the past; put out something in a different genre for a change.

Jarrod, Tengai Makyo is from Hudson, so wouldn't that be all Konami now? :)

I got the impression that they weren't interested in any shooter/action/puzzle releases these days since they've always lost money on them? Vic?

XII Stag
Espgaluda
Psyvariar 2
Do Don Pachi Daioujou
Strikers 1945 I & II
Giga Wing Generations

.....

P.... please?

Oh yeah, Vic was pretty interested in Dragon Force... but I'm not sure SCEA would let that fly. Berwick Saga would be great though, I'd finally have to buy my first WD game since 1998. :)

dragon force ps2?

or convert to xbox and put on xbox live! :D

WD's programming ability seems limited to tweaking difficulty, creating menus, and adding save slots.

Jarrod,

I'm hoping for another Sega Collection disc, probably only way we'll get US versions of Decathelete Collection, VF2, Dragon Force and others.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got Sega Classics Collection 2... though I doubt something like Dragon Force would be included given the localization needed.

Hopefully dying in a fire pit somewhere

I love when folks around here express the same degree of contempt towards a game company as victims of child molestation have towards those who scarred them for life.

Apparently Vic's been having has been busy with work and a lot of other things which is why he hasn't been responding to many emails (hence why john didn't get a reponse nor have I in quite awhile).

Vic's stated in the past that while he likes doing shooters, all of them lose money for WD. So while he wants to do it, he really can't at the moment.

How much would it cost for them to bring over a fairly straightforward shmup (or collection, ala Psikyo or Taito) that doesn't need any voice acting and has minimal text? I'd imagine we could drum up enough pre-orders from the shmup community to nearly cover the costs.

Hell, XS games sold out their (shittily done, but much appreciated) port of Castle Shikagami in like 2 days.

Sure, but XS does it at budget pricing. I'm not sure SCEA would let a $50 2D shooter fly these days... there seems like too many obstacles in WD pursing the genre these days, from consumer disniterest to product approval. We're better off begging for something like Goemon DS anyway. :)

Right, but my point is that XS was obviously able to turn a profit at $10. Let's say WD does a Cave 2-pack at $20 or $30 or a 3-pack at $30 0r $40, i'm sure they wouldn't have any trouble at all making that profitable.

Yeah, but if I recall, Vic isn't interested in touching anything on a Nintendo platform.

i would love if he could get ahold of grandia 3, but that's almost an impossibility. What happened to the good ol days of Working Designs and Gamearts connecting?

Enix bought a large share in Gamearts, then they bought Square.

Now they have no need for WD.

However, we need WD to port Border Down to the PSP.

What?! I had no idea this came out! Can this still be found?

EDIT: Sorry for being dumb. I just found a site called "Google" that led me to more info. EB has it in stock!

Yeah, but Vic's also a huge Goemon whore. If he wanted to bother with the craptacular PS2 game I don't see how he could pass this one up.

I think there's actually more animosity between GA and WD these days. Then again, the GA of today isn't exactly the same as they were in the Mega CD days,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also recall Vic speaking of how much of a hassle it is to release games on carts for a small publisher such as Working Designs.

Question: Who has the slowest release schedule ever and cries like a 2 year old if a 1st party doesn't give him any floor space at E3?

If you don't know the answer then email Sega, they'll tell you.:)

Yeah I'd love to see ESPGaluda, that'd be my #1 pick for WD now... I know the next in line is the Goemon game... then after that, who knows? Maybe we'll find out more @ E3...

And how could anybody wish for WD to burn in hell? There's always gonna be good Japanese games that never get a US release, all I can say is thank god for a company who risks bringing them out here... Stuffed with useless chochkas or not.

From what I've read here, it's not so much that he's got a problem with Nintendo, just different problems for the varying systems.
GBA: Cart
DS: Hates DS
GCN: Lack of cool games to bother translating that wouldn't be anyway

Or, as vireland said one month ago, replying to you, :P
It won't be on the DS from us, though.

Arc the Lad Collection was awesome. I thought I'd never get to play those games. Props to WD for bringing all 3 of them over. I hope they can find their ground again.

Well, I don't wish for anyone to burn in hell (never had strong feelings about WD one way or the other), but companies like Atlus have a done a better job in all respects of bringing out Japanese games that used to not get released in the West.
