What we know about Legend of Zelda Wii prior to E3 2010

I have a really hard time that Nintendo, of all companies, would name a game the same as another in a series as big as Zelda.
Yeah, they would have to stick NEW infront of it at least >.<

I know I shouldn't put any stake in unsubstantiated rumors like this, but damn. This all sounds too plausible to just dismiss entirely.

Especially the 'origins of the mastersword' thing. I'm pretty convinced there wont be a traditional sword, and that chick will be a context sensitive 'ability' that works for a number of things.

Everything about that sounds great aside from the Zordiana, especially the last part about the dungeons since Ive been asking for that for at least 6 years. But its ZI so its not likely real.

Forgive me for injecting some crazy ideas but wouldn't anyone else like to see a zelda with a more eastern setting than hyrule.
I want something like avatar or 12 kingdoms.
Having an eastern setting would mean a Link without a shield thus making the combat more challenging because it would require parrying.

I'm also tired of princess zelda. Why can't she be a queen? Have her kick some ass instead of being in distress all the time. Link should be an arbiter between 2 nations where he has to convince Queen Zelda to make peace with the other nation.

Thats way to complicated and involved. Im all for Zelda's getting a stronger narrative, but it should still have a simple plot line and humble origins for Link. A defined enemy and clear conflict, set up who is good and who is bad. From there though they can definitely bring in some depth to the story and more personality for the characters and varied gameplay involved, but other than that they shouldnt change too much.

I don't even use the shield lol!

:lol At the new rumors. Either too vague or too dumb.

Iwata should drop the bomb... on ZI's servers. What a hackneyed site.

I thought of an idea where there would be more than one Link, because in that "world" the legend is greatly celebrated, so the real Link has to prove himself or something like that. All the Links could be very different in style maybe even in race.

Those ZI rumours sound like a nice Zelda game (Zordiana sounds like something Nintendo would name a character), but as long as it's just rumours, I must not believe!
I WANT TO BELIEVE

Can someone post these rumours? The site seems to be down now (not a good sign) - :)

From memory;

- Game is set before OoT. Will tell the origins of the Master Sword.
- Draw symbols on some doors to open them.
- Dungeons operate a little differently. Wont always know you're in one. Some dungeons without bosses, some bosses without dungeons.
- Bow operates like the bow out of Wii Sports Resort.
- Hookshot returns. Not motion controlled. Can be swung similar to the grapple out of Wind Waker.

Hey guys My name is Eiji Aonuma, In the next Zelda we have rethought the way we make Zelda games.

First, let's look at the hook shot.

Twilight Princess did this well-the Mansion which is actually a dungeon and the city in the sky which isn't one.TP really went into the right direction and I would like it to expand that genius concept.

Why does anyone think it would be even slightly possible that those Zelda Informer rumors were true? Random fan sites leak top secret Nintendo stuff all the time, right?

some posters here are idiots?

Zordiana could be the name only for a particular region, similar to Zant/Xanto or Rosalina/Rosetta/Harmonie.

Can't wait till she turns into a giant robot called MegaZordiana.

Is it really hard to deduce from the rumor that mostly everything mentioned was what Miyamoto and Aonuma have said in the past about Zelda Wii?

Seriously people.

Wii Sports Resort controls for bow would be awful.

It's fine for no pressure aim for a bullseye type thing, but when there's stuff going on around you, and the possibility for the enemy to attack back, I just don't want to go through those motions just to fire an arrow.

A quick click of a button is fine to to draw the bow back.

Since we're talking items, here's what I want most: being able to use them nearly everywhere! I really liked the gear in TP for instance, but its use is very limited because there are so few rails in the game. My favourite item for moving has always been the boots from Zelda III and Link's Awakening. Why can't we get something like that? :/

I agree that items need to be used more. I hope they dont go overboard, and instead keep the item list small and versatile. I also hope they scrap a lot of the 'classic' items and just go for some new things.

Query for everyone; is there anything that Nintendo could do to Zelda Wii that would really shatter your anticipation for the title? Any style or element they could show that would make it drop down the hype list?

Well I guess that rumor that he is a shirtless hot looking futuristic cowboy fighting supernatural dinosaurs and demons in a Cyperpunk like setting could upset some. I'm game though!

First-person view. Or, generally trying to turn it into some kind of "mature WRPG" like Bethesda produces.
