Wait Selig got banned? For what? He was the main reason Zelda threads getting a lot of replies.

Mostly because of shitty ideas from him, but hey, it inspired others having better suggestions!

I agree that items need to be used more. I hope they dont go overboard, and instead keep the item list small and versatile. I also hope they scrap a lot of the 'classic' items and just go for some new things.

Query for everyone; is there anything that Nintendo could do to Zelda Wii that would really shatter your anticipation for the title? Any style or element they could show that would make it drop down the hype list?

basically 90% of the requests made in this thread :lol

Well, I think the final straw was him telling gofreak to shut up.
But it was probably just to get him out before E3 so that he wouldn't explode.

Well, here's the new blog post on Zelda Informer:

"BREAKING NEWS: Latest Zelda Wii Rumors CONFIRMED"

Um, what? Are these guys for real? If they're browsing this thread, know this: if this ends up being fake I'm never going to your site again. I was fine when you posted these articles but made sure you let the fans know that they were rumors, but when you come out and say "confirmed", you've got to realize that you have a lot of people who will potentially leave your site if it ends up being BS.

Copying for the sake of it, and to prevent it from being changed later:

The latest batch of Zelda Wii rumors, posted only yesterday, has been confirmed just a few minutes ago. We were reluctant to post the source of the rumors earlier because of the dubious validity, and turned our entire attention towards digging up the source. It took some translating, some waiting for administrator approvals, and some investigation, but we can now say, with 99.99% validity, that the Zelda Wii Rumors from yesterday, are true.

* Zelda Wii's official title is "The Legend of Zelda". There will be no subtitle.
* The game tells a story several hundred years before Ocarina of Time.It also answers the question of how the Mastersword came into being.
* The fairy-like girl plays is a very important character in the game. Her Name is Zordiana.
* The Hookshot is also in the game and it has new abilities. It will not pull you immediately to the target you aimed. Now it is possible to swing with the Hookshot, like with the Grappling Hook from WW. The Hookshot makes no use of Wii Motion Plus.
* Sometimes you have to "draw" a specific symbol on a door with your sword, to open it.
* The Bow-Control is very similar to the Bow-Control in Wii Sports Resort, as the script shows.
* There are two levels of difficulty. Aonuma put it through. Miyamoto didn't want to include it.The Normal-Mode for amateurs. The Hero-Mode has no "Super Guide" included and the enemies tougher.
* The On-Stage Dungeon, which is also playable at E3, isn't a Dungeon as we know it from the Zelda series. When entering a Dungeon, you will not notice you are in one. It will be a smooth gradation. There will be Dungeons with no Bosses and Bosses with no Dungeon. The "Dungeon" you are able to play at E3 will be an Ice-Level. It will be the frist "Dungeon" in the Game.

The day the rumors were posted here, we received an email from a @yahoo.de account listing the rumors and providing a link to a german gaming forum (Thread here). Writing back to that email, we received no answer. Instead, we turned to the guy who posted them on the forum. After registering though we were disappointed to see that a user requires 15 posts to send a private message... Trying to reply to the thread was equally hopeless as the account needs to be verified by an administrator. Twelve hours later, the verification showed up.

The thread unfortunately moved on already (Germans apparently don't care too much about rumors) so we didn't actually hope for too much. This morning however, the guy who posted the rumors wrote a random reply to that same thread, just seconds before we checked the thread. Using this momentarily attention, we popped the question and lo and behold, he answered... with a different forum post. Apparently the rumors originated at yet another german Zelda fansite. After finding the thread there, we were relieved when the forum didn't shout at us when we tried to write a PM. An hour later, we got the confirmation. At the request of the original poster, we will disclose as little info as possible.

The information came from translator / german language instructor working in Kyoto who was hired at the E3 to prepare Aonuma for his speech. It is not entirely accurate that the info is from the first page of the speech. The original poster is an acquaintance of this person. The information was passed on to him via IM.

In order to protect the identity of both individuals, we are unable to disclose anything else at this point in time.

More than half of them will probably end up true anyway just because of how logical they are/they were semi-confirmed before.

Yeah but a lot of them are pretty specific:

*The name of the character
*The time in which the game takes place
*The title of the game
*The "theme" of the first dungeon

All of these have to be true or Zelda Informer has officially lost all credibility. I was going into their article hoping to find something mind blowing like pictures or something. Instead we get a freaking German fansite where we find out a German speaking translator has written a script for Eiji Aonuma at E3. Yeah, sure. If anything this confirms that the rumors are fake.

Don't be so gullible Zelda Informer (sorry, just saw a Back to the Future marathon last night :lol )

Forgive me for injecting some crazy ideas but wouldn't anyone else like to see a zelda with a more eastern setting than hyrule.
I actually would like to see something along the lines of a Macedonian / Greek style. Lots of mosaics and simple garb, etc. Maybe as a sequel to Wind Waker where Hyrule is starting to dry out and you're left with lots of rocky terrain and islands, so there's still some degree of sailing involved but the overworld is, for the most part, land.

Heh, random cool idea; a new tool you get is a spear/javelin/trident that you can throw into walls and use as a climbing device to scale sheer surfaces.

Ice Level is the first dungeon in the game?
Fake.
The Legend of Zelda: Ice Age... They're all Ice dungeons! Link rides around on a Sabertooth Epona, stabbing mammoths and neanderthal Moblins :lol.

I think the shorter answer might be "What wasn't selig banned for?"

Seconding a return of the Pegasus Boots, great item.

Yeah, I know that whenever I want to give a speech in English, I always hire a German instructor.

I would suggest that we all use our better judgement and stop humouring (and by extension even discussing) these sorts of click-baiting pre-e3 shenanigans.

It kinda makes you wonder how they got into Nintendo's Test Room. Or how many German speaking testers work for Nintendo. How exactly do you get this kind of information

Translator throws away his career to impress a random idiot on the Internet. Sure sounds credible.

EDIT: No wait, it was an acquaintance of the translator. That makes it even more credible.

First person view probably, I'd still buy it though.

Oh God please let there be another epic meltdown this year :lol

People get so riled up at E3 and they post things they normally wouldn't. GAF reaction is always better than the actual show. Buckle up. It's gonna be a good one this year.

In the comment section here's what one of the editors said (well, assuming he's an editor) after someone asked if he knew what the word "confirmed" meant (good question):

ZI said:
Please note that there IS ample proof in our eyes for this, we simply do not wish to disclose it. Of course this means that some people will still remain skeptic. Either way, the E3 is just 2 days away. ;)

This brings me back to the months before Brawl was out.
So many friends of friends who know credible sources that IM'd them in a different language. It's all a load of garbage, but it does make the days pass until we get real news.

there was ample proof in his eyes that he not only knows the features of the games, he knows about the internal team discussions and squabbles between producers that led to the balance of features being adopted?

I see nothing earth shattering with those rumors.

The only new thing is that the first dungeon is an ice-themed dungeon (big deal, Link comes from an ice village now...).

The other interesting thing is that there will be no real difference between dungeon and world map; the game will be more integrated, as it has been hinted for ages from Nintendo themselves. I think this will make the series better.

Girl is the sword (we knew this ages ago); the game is set 100 years in the past (big deal, it IS Zelda, and Nintendo just needs an excuse to not deal with the other game's stories)

Well they're earth-shattering to me because a lot of it is stuff that I've been hoping for. I don't want to get hyped up over those tidbits because it could be bullshit yet, but I'm excited nonetheless.

They don't work for Nintendo so they can't say "well he knows about this so he's telling the truth." Any and all information that he gave to "prove" himself could have been a lie.

I don't know why I'm even trying. I'll go off to study again or some shit, can't believe I stayed for this.

That's true. I love these rumors and the meltdowns people have (I'm partly to blame). I would love these rumors to be true not because they'd be awesome, but because of the reaction of GAF. :lol But no, it's complete BS.

New comment from the editor when asked about the German guy and why he would be chosen to write an English script for Aonuma:

ZI said:
The guy's fluid in several languages. He works in Kyoto.

Something tells me that this guy won't be able to contain himself and will reveal his "ample proof" before E3. If not then then he'll definitely post something after E3 to explain why he thought it was real.

That's probably one of the best designs that Zelda could undergo. When you can't tell the difference btw a dungeon or a world map area.

It's interesting if they go back to a prelude Zelda(essentially) than following Ocarina of Time's dual storylines(one with the HeroofTime and the other w/o). Almost makes the game sound more primitive but eventful. Hopefully that translates into a harder game, overall.

but was not confirmed that aonuma isn't the director of this chapter of the saga?ò_ò
so why aonuma will ever make the zelda wii presentation at the e3?

You know, 100 years before OoT means no Ganondorf, right? It would be about 40-60 years before Ganondorf was born, depending on how old he was during Ocarina.

Which means Vaati!

If they screw up the MotionPlus swordfighting. By that I mean if it's done in such a way that it's not fun and if there's just not much to the combat element (few enemies, complete lack of challenge, emphasis on OTHER uses of MotionPlus). After all the teasing in Wii Sports Resort — the swordighting part was one of the more advertised and more fleshed-out games in WSR, with the adventure mode —, I expect them to do a stellar job in that area, but I'm really worried for some reason. The only way they'd make up for this is if everything else I'd hope for ends up being true. That has no chance to happen, considering that the game would look nothing like Twilight Princess or pretty much any 3D Zelda game.

So yeah, MotionPlus. Don't botch it, Nintendo.

That's a difficult question to answer.

Nothing I can (realistically) think of would ruin the game for me before I get to play it. But I'm sure there's something I can't think of that would make me weep.

Unrealistically, if they made Link a giant pink dinosaur that conquered his enemies with love, I'd be pretty sad.

I'm disappointed by the rumors... I like it when rumors are Megatons, like:

- There will be no hearts in the game, health bar is gone
- Link will be able to jump freely
- One of the weapons is a gunshot
- Epona will grow wings at some point of the game and you will be able to fly over the world.

etc
