What would the story/tone of a Marvel Black Panther film be?

Monarch living in the shadow of his father, who has many internal enemies and rivals to the throne, and who is just now revealing a modern and technologically advanced African nation to the rest of the world? Politics has to be a part of it for this movie to not just be "black batman." Wakandan/American politics shined in Priest's run.

Movie Wakanda needs to be given the Kun Lun treatment. I think having it as a nation-state somehow otherwise hidden wouldn't work. Play up the mystical aspect, throw in African lore or something.

He should not get a film yet. Hear me out

His first appearance should be in an avengers film.

He should be introduced as someone who the avengers visit for assistance, which he takes as a violation of his borders

He takea out all of the avengers sans cap, and they have a sit down

Why can't the country just be a country? Why it gotta be magical? The boast technological superiority anyway

They passed on Black Panther because Guardian's of the Galaxy was more marketable.

I don't see that changing in Phase 3. Best you can probably hope for is an introduction in another Marvel movie.

Audiences would balk at the thought of an African nation being technologically advanced, similar to how they can't suspend disbelief when Black Panther fights superpowered beings/gods

Maybe if this was on FOX. Luckily isn't.

Elba already is Heimdall.
Michael B Jordan is far too young.
What other bankable black star could they use on a multi-million dollar project?
Wesley Snipes? Blade.
Eddie Murphy? Dude's past 50.
Terry Crewes?

Face it, it's Will Smith.

They'll probably just hire a relative unknown like Chris Pratt for GOTG or Chris Hemsworth for Thor.

There are quite a few Chrises in the MCU.

Yes, because Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans were a pretty big deal before they landed their roles.

When was the last time you saw hollywood throw money at a black unknown?

Cuz it sure is a mighty pretty blonde buff picture you`re painting with those names.

They don't really throw money at Hemsworth and Evans.

They threw money at the movie. Not at the actor.
Thor had a budget of 150 million.
Captain America? 140m

You wanna pretend that they`ll throw that kinda money on a movie led by an unknown black actor? Ok. Hope is a good thing to have.

I dunno.

It could happen. They probably will have enough goodwill cached up to do it and get butts in the seat to see another Marvel flick, no matter if the lead is black or white.

Actually, i just remembered that Chiwetel Ejiofor exists.

12 years a slave was made on an 18million dollar budget, btw. FUN TIMES.

Question is if he'd accept the role.

Gods, now i want a Black Panther movie so bad.

Young man is adopted by Wakandan royalty only to see his new family brutally slain in front of him. Years pass and he has trained to avenge his adoptive family. He becomes...BLACK PANTHER

Starring Shia LeBouf
Directed by Michael Bay
Written by Zack Synder.

Probably Wakanda should be portrayed as primitive and superstitious, but they have a prophecy about this one dude who will come and save them. Enter government agent Everett Ross (Ryan Reynolds), sent to Wakanda in pursuit of a terrorist cell plotting to use vibranium for some shit or other. Forced to rely on the simple tribal folk for assistance, he comes to appreciate their culture and their connection to the earth and nature. He uses what he has learned from them, what they call the way of the panther, to defeat and capture the terrorists. In the end, he takes up the ceremonial garb and title given him by these primitive people, and becomes... the Black Panther!

This would sadly print money.

Will be a black dude in a furry panther suit going to a furry party then...a white guy in a furry ant suit comes and well...
The best movie happens obviously.

Wakanda could come out of hiding due to New York and Shield's crazy tech. Deciding that it's better to normalize relationships than be discovered and feared.

Is panther popular enough to merit a big movie.

Or will is it just popular enough to get a tv show if that like the daredevil and luke cage netflix stuff.

Basically 12 Years a Slave with wire-fu right?

Did anyone else enjoy the BET series that was up on Netflix for a while?
It's been my only real exposure to Black Panther, and what I watched of it was surprisingly awesome. It somehow got me to give a shit about a character and lore I previously had zero interest in. If a live action BP film used it as a foundation, I'd be all for it.

How faithful was the BET series to the comics anyway?

Jesse Spencer has some free time in his schedule for the part.

70s blaxsploitation spoof, I.e. black dynamite.

Really I just want another black dynamite

Edit: or just do coming to America, and replace Zmunda with wakanda

no.

This + Batman Begins. I would watch day 1.

i think this should be saved for a sequel if the film does well.

Bond movie meets political thriller.

i like this.

T'Challa's father just died and now he is struggling to get control over his nation while fighting off the opposing threat.

people argued the same for Thor and people are arguing the same for ant-man

Anti-colonism screed

This is one of the shittiest first posts i've ever seen, not to mention the fact it's "anti-colonialism"

If they ever do get around to making this, it'll most likely be the origin story, so you need Klaw. And lets go with the good, technologically advanced Wakanda, or forget the whole thing.

Black Panther's origin story if done right should be a revenge + political struggle story. His father, the current king of Wakanda, should be introduced in the story and killed early. btw, Wakanda should be a technological advanced city; it can be a huge thing in the cinematic universe. His first and i guess technically his arch enemy is ulysses klaw a scientist who has found a way to turn sound into a weapon and killed his father.

You can add him in to further the AIM story and add some main characters to the group. i'm not sure if they should do the "get his power from a fruit" or just have him be a highly trained human or maybe just a natural born meta-human.
Anyways the film should focus on Black Panther looking for Klaw for killing his father because Klaw wants the vibranium that they are the only ones in the world with. i think they should add his step-brother White Wolf

that betrays the city and joins Klaw in order to try to take over the city.

i like the tone of bond + political thriller because the character black panther is motivated by Wakanda and will do what ever is necessary to protect/save it whether it is teaming with the Avengers or banishing his own brother.

a lot of his villains are.... very minor in the Marvel universe or are not his original villain.

Why's it got to be somebody bankable? Robert Downey Jr was absent from Hollywood for years, Hemsworth was an unknown, Evans was a B to C lister, and Chris Pratt is a small screen star with little to no big screen exposure. Edward Norton was the only Marvel headliner with real box office draw, and he has since been replaced.

Besides, Marvel is notoriously cheap. They'd rather make a star than pay for an established one.

I could see Michael Jai White or Chiwetel Ejiofor as T'Challa.

It should be Roots but with superpowers

Then Captain America visits Wakanda and Black Panther beats the crap out of him, becoming the new leader of the Avengers.

Holy shit I forgot how awesome he was in Avengers EMH.

I feel like however they do it, it'll start with Panther in the US.
Either it'll be a young guy discovering that he's the heir to the BP legacy and rule of Wakanda or it'll be BP in exile and having to reclaim his throne.

I hope aldis hodge gets to try out. Let him bulk up a little, and have him go at it.

Cap America 3. Cap gets his ass handed to him by some new villain. ( Iono cap enemies) shield breaks. Enters black panther. Hidden country. Tons of vibraneum or whatever it's called. Make new shield. Buddy moment. BP wears caps uniform. They team to beat enemy. Cap says good job. Bp tells him for not knowing about the previous captain America. Cap freaks out and retires.

After credits. They show the young avengers. Zoom in that junior cap.Boom. New kids show.

Michael Jai White as Black Panther

Coming to America meets Iron Man, but with a focus on the political drama instead of business espionage. 100% serious

All the people pushing for Coming to America-

Wakanda is not ignorant of the rest of the world, it's the opposite in fact.

The movie should have some humor, all the Marvel movies do-but it shouldn't hinge on the African being confused and out of place.

Coming to America is one of the funniest flicks ever made, but movie+Africa doesn't (shouldn't) automatically make you think of it.

In fact, fuck America, the bulk of the movie should take place in Wakanda.

Seriously, folks would have T'challa trying to throw a coke bottle off the edge of the world.
