What's up with people that think jeans are uncomfortable?

Jeans are pretty uncomfortable, yeah. Long pants in general are uncomfortable if they're tight fitting. I don't notice much if I'm just wearing jeans everyday, but if I switch from skirts or shorts or dresses to jeans it feels pretty gross and constricting. :(

Jean shorts, when they fit, can be surprisingly comfortable. Not as much as other shorts, but they're a good casual, neutral choice.

I have thighs like tree trunks and a relatively small waist, so it's hard to find jeans that fit nicely. This skinny jeans craze is doing me no favours at all.

I just hate the way the fabric feels on my skin. Skinny jeans taking the majority of the space in most stores doesn't make things any easier (although I'm slim as hell, 62kg at ~175cm). I also like to be able to fit a wallet into the pocket of my trousers, which isn't possible with skinny jeans - not even a thin one without any change.

I'll take cargo trousers over jeans any day of the week.

I am 5'11" and 170lbs. I've lost quite a bit of weight. The problem I had before I lost the weird and still face it - is how the waist feels on a pair of jeans. The waist and belt area presses into my gunt without budging. I find that with almost every pants I wear and I think it will be a problem I have for the rest of my life. And yes I know about the work pants with an elastic waistband.

Also, just thinking of wearing underwear and jeans at the same time makes me squirmy and uncomfortable. I haven't worn underwear with jeans in at least 10 years. The mere thought of it... is terrible

And for the people who advocate for not washing their jeans every 1-2 times. You must either not sweat like I do, or your don't have noses. Even after a single day my jeans feel damp and smell like cheese. Could be that whole no underwear thing. But I almost never get a second round.
Yes.

When I was fat, jeans were very uncomfortable. The denim would push the cellulite in all sorts of directions and chafe. Also, people have said, fat deposits have a mind of their own and settle anywhere , so it's very difficult to find the right jeans.

Stop washing jeans so often. They come out like cardboard afterwards.

It's understandable in summer or if you sweat a lot but if you're after long pants in summer, wear chinos instead.

They are uncomfortable if you compare them to say, sweatpants. Whenever I get home I just ditch my jeans instantly and put on sweatpants or something similar.

I cannot wear skinny jeans, literally. If I try one that's "my size", my calves feel so compressed they are going to explode. One size larger and they become too long and too wide on the waist. How are non-teenagers supposed to wear them?
(I'm pretty thin btw).
Normal jeans though? I'm perfectly fine with them, in fact, I mostly use those.

People who think jeans are uncomfortable go shopping in tracksuits and are humungous pieces of shit.

I don't wear jeans because I find them uncomfortable but I don't wear tracksuits either...I wear trousers. I think Jeans can never be as comfortable because they are thicker than trousers and hence can never give you the flexibility and comfort you get from a trouser.

Aren't all jeans supposed to be very tight when you buy them? They have to be broken in.

I don't wear skinny jeans as I don't like them but I wear slim fit jeans rather than the regular cut.

Pockets are super important for me and I've never found jeans with good pockets. Like they should be big and have not just the standard four but he extra two on the thigh parts. Thus khakis for me it is.

I know girls prefer leggings now. But as someone that likes pockets and not washing clothes. Jeans are the best.

One can clearly get an idea of the differences between male and female clothing by juxtaposing the above posts talking about the same thing but coming from two people of opposite genders. Haha

You can always get those skinny jeans tailored to fit if you really like the look and want them to feel right.

Eh, I don't see the point really. It's mostly other people that tell me to try them, and every time I go buy some trousers the clerks try to force me into buying them.
I like being comfortable when I go around, I'm the kind of person that would wear t-shirts and run shoes all day if I could :p

There good for going for drink and meals in, but in my day to day life Im pretty active so i prefer to wear lighter more active combat style trousers.

Love jeans. But finding the right size can be a pain. I got so tired of shopping and not coming across my size that I just do it online now.

I got some great Jeans from ASOS I entered all of my stats into their measurement helper so it tells me how the jeans will look on me, will I have enough bum room etc. Hasn't failed me yet.

Now when I get a pair of jeans I know they'll fit correctly and feel good.

That sounds like a problem unique to you. As my jeans smell great even if I've been out all night clubbing. I think you really need to consider wearing underpants with jeans. And wash your dick and balls properly. As no ones jeans should be "damp and smell of cheese."

Well....I don't think there is any other popular type of pants that isn't more comfortable to wear than jeans, but they're still pretty nice.

Are they just buying the wrong jeans/size or something? Jeans are SO comfortable. I would wear my jeans all the time but I don't want them to get old.

not just jeans, pants in general. i base what i want to do by asking the question " do i have to wear pants tonight"

Not really, no. I agree about the smell but as long as you have any given amount of belly chub and you don't wear one or two sizes more than you should, you're bound to get the jeans waist to rub on it, which is why I always keep a tank top underneath, held down by an extra pair of loose trunks I have on top of my underwear.

I should have edited out the top part of his comment as I was strictly on about the damp jeans stuff.

I don't understand the OP. Jeans are inherently uncomfortable, no? I mean, the fabric is quite stiff compared to other fabrics, and wasn't the original benefit of such a thick and stiff fabric a more durable and protective garment?

edit: grammar

I sleep in jeans as yall know. They are really comfortable to me all the time. Im not a big person though so they are loose fit.

I also sleep in jeans. *high five*

Also, I have a few friends who never wear jeans at all. Don't understand it.

Hell, one of my friends literally wears nothing but wind pants. 24/7. I don't even.

I haven't worn them in years. Khaki all the way. Looks better and feels better on me.
Because basketball shorts > Jeans. Seriously, basketball shorts are so comfortable.
I would wear basketball shorts all the time if I didn't give a shit, honestly.

Jeans are awesome. Those who aren't fans of jeans:

not really you can get a pair that's cotton/elastane blend so it's pretty soft and somewhat stretchy

I hated jeans until I got into high school.

Now I wear them seven days a week. Rotate through like three pairs and wash them every few months. Feels good man.

I'm not that worried about comfort, but I don't wear them. They look sloppy on most people but I guess it's cool if you're a middle-aged dad and stopped caring.

Love jeans. Found a pair that fit me perfectly, they are "carrot" shape. Works well because i have quite decent thighs, and straight jeans can look silly. Sadly they don't make that shape anymore for the brand I got.

I very rarely wash them but then I don't get them very dirty. I probably wear them 3-4 times a week because my girlfriend likes them.

A good pair is hard to find. Especially for my thick thighs. I want room in the seat but not be all baggy in the leg.

I have this issue. I actually found jeans that fit perfectly............at a western store.
Wrangler 20x Limited Edition No. 42 Vintage Boot Cut Jean

They fit very similar to 90's Levis Silver Tab relaxed fit. Loose, but not baggy and just a slight flair at the bottom. Love 'em.

I don't wear cowboy boots either.

If jeans look sloppy on someone it's a problem with how they're wearing it and not the jeans themselves.

I could job interview in jeans.

Depends on the jeans like everything else. Some people might be jaded from wearing ill fitting jeans.

I think I exclusively starting wearing jeans in the 11th grade. A decade later and I still love them.

I got my last job wearing the same jeans I wear today. :D

I found them to be very uncomfortable when I was fat for a couple of years.
