What's your "price ceiling" for the next-gen systems?

$450, includes one game.

Must come with a wireless controller, decent size hard drive, and if ps or ms are going motion controls again, it has to come with kinect 2.0 or move 2.0 plus accessories.

Or release Metal Gear Solid 5 and I will pay anything to play it.

$200 is the max I'm willing to go. I have a sexy gaming PC as it is and I mostly only play Dota anyway, so there needs to be some serious killer app along with a cheap pricepoint in order for me to hop on a console.

My focus is purely retro games at the moment, so I'm really not going to be down for purchasing until they are $200 range.

Full BC might change that though.

$400. I'd only go higher if there's games I want bundled in with the system.

$400 sounds like a reasonable number.

But then you include a game or two and tax and that kills that number.

But then I feel that $300 for the system is too cheap.

Add a couple of games and tax and the price is good imo again.

So in the end, I think $400 bundled with a game (or downloadable code for a game) worth playing would be perfect.

$400

Will do $500 possibly if there are some major must-have like an exclusive new Mass Effect or Uncharted or something.

It is somewhere around $450, but only if I'm 100% sure it won't be a Vita-like situation. And if there are at least 5 great games I want to play announced for the next year or so.

~ £250 (that includes price of a game).

Could go £10 or £20 higher depending on the circumstances, but that is why these £200 - £210 Wii U's are looking tempting (basic model, I have a good external HDD and I prefer the white colour).

But I have never paid much more than £250 for a console.

$400 for the console itself if I deem their future plans for online services and their launch line-up valuable to me. The reality for me is I'm getting more comfortable with PC gaming and see myself waiting a bit into the next generation to build one.

I paid $1000 Australian for the ps3. Never again. I'm older wiser and much busier with life now. Will wait until they iron out any problems and the price comes down. I will always be a few months behind with games but I like that as they will be cheaper.

600

There sure is a lot of low ball offers in here for these premium products.
There's no way that they charge $600. PS3 was a trainwreck launch and that was like seven years ago when the economy wasn't as bad as it is now. $600 now is a death sentence.

$300 about 2 or 3 years after release. You know, when there are actually games worth buying that represent the system's true ability, bugs are worked out and prices have dropped.

That's pretty much my exact thought process.

Exactly. $600 in the current economy would be disastrous.

I'll be happy if I can get the top version of each console for £400, £500 after I include postage and two launch games. If it exceeds that they'll need to wait an extra few weeks

EDIT: That is with the assumption though that there will be say 2 games, and 1 or two more that I can pick up 2-3 weeks down the line, worth putting down £400 a console for. If the software isn't there, it's nada til it is.

Have a Wii U already and won't be buying either next gen systems for a while. If anything I'll build a gaming/work PC to carry me through next gen. So money isn't an issue. :P

Enough. I can probably do at least $600, if not more if I keep to my budget and save all year.

I also want to buy an HDTV. Hoping Panasonic has the cash to make one more model upgrade on their Plasma lineup this year so I can have an epic TV to go with my new PS4.

I don't think I'd pay more than $400 for a console unless there is something super compelling that we haven't heard about yet. I also don't have any desire to buy day 1 or really anytime soon. More than price, I'm waiting for software and services to justify a purchase. I can stick with PC alone until Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo shows me something I really really want and the value matches the price.
