Which do you WANT to win The Game Awards GOTY

I don't really care, but i saw the ridiculous overreactions on Resetera about the Wukong's nomination due to it being made by "biggots" and it was very funny, so there goes my vote.

The only thing truly unique in this list is Balatro. Astrobot is a fun platformer, but there's really nothing new under the sun with it. Elden Ring is just DLC and shouldn't be on this list in the first place. Black Myth: Wukong isnt revolutionary in any way, and it was only so successful because the Chinese market wanted to support a Chinese game. Final Fantasy VII is shit, and this is a hill I will die on. Metaphor: Refantazio is exactly like Persona, just with a different skin.

There is no wrong answer here, but it's between Astro Bot and erdtree for me.

Balatro

I've also played:

Astrobot - It's a fun ride that sparks fond memories with all the rescued bot callbacks. The downside is that once I collected everything the game had to offer, I can't imagine wanting to do a second playthrough.
Shadow of the Erdtree - I have zero issues with an expansion being a game of the year candidate and Erdtree's massive size rivals most other standalone releases. Erdtree fixes some of the issues I had with the base game, but more often than not continues and exacerbates the larger issues along with add a new issue or two.
Rebirth - I'm not a fan of the combat of Remake or Rebirth, but that's probably a matter of taste. I can't stand what they've done to FF7's story, it just feels like a bloated mess. I hate finished Remake and gave up on Rebirth after 4 or 5 chapters.

I want to play Metaphor and it will probably be my last purchase of the year (hoping for a BF discount). I'll try Wukong eventually but Stellar Blade left me pretty cold so I've been a little gun shy about diving into another action game.

Metaphor, hooked me from start to finish and while it has some flaws it's the best new game I've played this year.

Honestly couldn't care less what some panel of gaming journalists thinks, so I want whichever one would cause the most entertaining meltdowns. I'm going with Wukong.

In a just world though, it would be Concord. That was the most entertaining thing Sony has done this generation

How is Erdtree even eligible for GOTY?

Unfortunately PS5 pro made me hold off on what is currently my two favorite games of the year: Rebirth and SH2R. Still playing through Rebirth, and SH2R is broken on Pro so I'm still waiting on that.

I know I'm going to love Metaphor but I can't handle 2 JRPGs at the same time so I haven't started it yet (technically played the first 30 minutes). Studio Zero is one of my favorite devs of all time so it's a no brainer.

Should add I've played and completed everything nominated except Balatro which I'm sure I'd love (I play poker for money irl) but I'm also sure it wouldn't touch my top 3 or beat Wukong/Metaphor but who knows, I'll make that judgment once I've played it.

Wukong. Everything else is painfully overrated or not an actual game.

Truthfully though it doesn't really matter to me.

Balatro or Wukong for the meltdowns.
Out of the list I've only played Balatro and Erdtree and I'd rather have Balatro win because having a DLC as goty is silly, even if I really enjoyed it.

Wukong is a decent game......not GOTY material, but Geoff put it on there to get the millions of Chinese viewers. Not even a question why it's there.

Sticking with Metaphor. Astro Bot was so good though.

Months before Astrobot's release, I proclaimed it would own everything and snatch GOTY. After grabbing the platinum, I stand by what I said.

Neither of those and I only played Elden Ring and Astrobot. A DLC should not be there on principle so we're left with the latter

I'd like to see Wukong win, because it made such a huge splash and was a breakthrough for Chinese devs. Plus it might upset the blue hairs. I don't think it'll win, but it would be nice to see.

Balatro, because that would be sending a signal that a game primarily focused on gameplay, and not graphics, story, spectacle and all that stuff, can also just win.

It's been a few years since I've sat down to play anything but I looked up a vid of Astrobot yesterday because I remembered the trailer. That game looks awesome and I voted for it. Just pure gaming fun from what I can see. Put an actual smile on my face.

It's not gonna happen because for Doritos Pope and his crew of *professional reviewers* it is"le kiddie gaem" but AstroGOAT totally deserves it

wukong for the drama.

Would there be that much drama?

I finished the game 3 times. I can't ever recall doing this with a game, I never even bother with an NG 99.99% of the time. It was damn good.

Or the drama would be the purple hair weirdos being triggered?
