Sorry but Whitney Houston is no Michael Jackson. MJ was above shit like drugs as well.
And your point is? Nevermind the fact that you are wrong(they signed to Warner in 1988, and already had popular mainstream songs like "The One I Love"; also their most popular song "Losing my Religion" was released several months before Nevermind), that doesn't somehow make them a lesser band than Nirvana, just because they weren't quite as big.
maybe it's coldhearted, I dunno, but I just don't care about celebrities who die from their own choices. It's not tragic. Tragic, are the people in Syria being murdered by their own government.
Being a rich popstar doesn't seem to be such a great thing.
Perhaps it is hard to come down back to earth after massive popularity fades and you are just an elder from the previous music generation?
Fame is something that is bestowed upon you because of success. Success is something you have to chase, he explains. And once youve had success, you have to keep having it in order not to be a failure. In business, you can have one massive success that earns $50 million overnight, and thats it. Youre successful. End of story. But in the music business, you have to keep on doing it. You have to constantly chase success. The fame you just get. I enjoy being famous, because I dont have to do anything. I can just turn up at nice restaurants and people are like, Oh, its Noel fucking Gallagher. Brilliant. Sit down. But success can ruin people, because you have to chase it, and that can drive you insane. You can get obsessed with the idea of a formula, and you start wondering, Why did I sell 20 fucking million albums in less than two years during the 90s, but now I cant sell 20 million albums over the span of 10 years after the turn of the century? And its not like I sit around thinking about that, but its always there. And when you start really chasing success, you start to make mistakes, and thats when things spin out of fucking control.
All these stars dropping like flies...starting to get suspious. Record execs taking out there artist?
From what I've seen of "musicGAF"(so cute) I don't think I have much to worry about. The Punk Thread you guys got going here is pretty damn pitiful.Go start a thread so we can argue about 90s rock, it will be enjoyable watching all of musicGAF come out and shred you into tiny pieces.
If Seattle was so big, then how come it was already being pushed out as early as 1995-1996? SoCal bands like No Doubt, Sublime, and The Offspring were becoming the next big thing at that time, and nearly every Seattle act was pushed to the backburner or dissolved(Nirvana, Soundgarden...).
Hell, it's arguable Dookie signaled the end of the Seattle sound.
The responses in this thread make me feel bad for having no clue who she is...
What a phenomenal waste...
Fuck drugs.
Agreed. Such an amazing talent and voice snuffed out too soon.
Please people-don't do drugs. It's a dark road most
people never return from.
Instead of lighting up a joint or doing a line, hug a friend, tell
someone you love them, adopt an animal, help a neighbor....
Fight the good fight.
sad :<
so effortless
such amazing voice
Seriously. I hate watching the national anthem performed during games, I cringe every time some half-assed pop icon hack strains the piss out of their voice for that extra "soul" effect. But this was just badass. Effortless is exactly the word I'd use to describe it, too.
This is so freaking sad.![]()
I'm surprised how many people forget how many top singles she still had all the way until 1999.

You've got no idea.
Whitney Houston's death turns into some weird Nirvana/alternative debate, fucking internet.

Eh, it's the nature of conversations to diverge from the original topic. It only feels weird due to the artificial nature of discussion boards.
