What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

Today convinced me that I will have to hold on to my Wii U.

I have Smash and MK8 with a TON of controllers I can use for both. Won't be so with Switch.

Plus Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 1 and 2, SM3DW, NSMBU, a bunch if stuff on vWii side.... VC stuff galore that I'm not buying again.

Sigh.

Nintendo did absolutely nothing to divert money from the upcoming PS4 games I want.

How much would enough controllers for 8 player smash be? If that's even a thing. Just getting controllers for 4 player mario kart seems like it's going to be nuts at those prices. It's the WiiU for me. At least until late this year.

I wonder if they have heard of Cemu yet. With the emulator maturing quickly these days, it might be able to play Zelda BotW at full speed at launch (or nearly). It might be a good thing for the WiiU copies sales, but not quite for Switch as the game is THE launch title.

What do you think, will they maybe delay it or cancel it altogether? Or maybe they just won't care?

They won't care. The Wii U release is a gimped version and afterthought. It will mostly sell on Switch. No one really cares about the WiiU version at this point.

I don't see myself picking up a Switch anytime soon when the system is launched so I'll stick to getting Zelda on the Wii U.

Same. I think performance wise it'll be the same. Visuals will be better on the Switch, but I doubt it's a generation leap.

There will likely be a lot more drops down to 25fps or so on the Wii U but tbh I'm not expecting it to be horribly bad; no impressions from E3 were of terrible performance.

I will as I bought a Wii U specifically for Zelda 2 years ago in holiday 2014!!

(at that time Zelda was advertised as a '2015' game)

I think that if there were a bunch of other great exclusives coming to switch at launch I might be enticed to go ahead and make the jump, but as it is now, I think I will save myself some money and get switch when it has some more software.

(EDIT: I really hope the Wii U version runs ok - it was originally developed for Wii U so I would imagine it could handle it.....hopefully)

Every WiiU gameplay video I've seen so far had some troubling framerate problems as soon as shit started happening. Add to that that they've been mum about the WiiU release date and I'm skeptical the WiiU version is the way to go.

Then again, I'm one of those guys who also bought new hardware at launch to get Twilight Princess as early as possible. In hindsight the correct decision, but no guarantee it'll be the right move here.
Worst kept secret ever:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also coming to #WiiU on March 3rd.

They're trying their best not to promote it because they actually want people to buy new hardware. I'm pleased they've not done a Twilight Princess with this though.

Because I'd rather play a game at 4k than 720p.

What kind of framerates do you get with Splatoon at 4k? What cpu and gpu are you running?

This thread made me curious enough to download Cemu. I am curious as to how the disc based games I own will run in comparison to my WiiU.

My friend will, he bought a Wii U for BotW and doesn't plan on even considering buying a Switch for a couple years. I don't blame him. Not everyone can hype a system that is mostly ports right now.

Of course, unless you're me. Day 1 on Switch, baby.

Where does it come from? About WiiU is gimped version.

But anyway, Nintendo is usually care about this kind of stuff. Like what happened to the numerous fangames.

Yes, but that's today. There's still a couple months until then.

I'm going Zelda wii u and holding off for holiday '17. Without Mario Odysey I just done need one.

Unless that voxel squenix game beats it to market.

Still have my sub-$50 CDN pre-order locked in. I'd have to be an idiot to not buy it at that price.

Exact reason I'm keeping mine! I'm considering leaving it sealed, then playing the Switch version when I eventually get one. Thanks Amazon!

I'm not going to buy the Wii U version but I'll rent it to get a taste of Zelda until I eventually get a Switch. Zelda is my favorite franchise but I'm not entirely sold yet on the new direction so I'm in no rush to own it. When I do buy the game it will be for Switch though.

Considering how long the game has been in development for that platform there's no excuse for it running poorly. I'll wait and see.

Depends how well it runs on cemu. If they have it on lock and I can play at 4k without frame pacing problems I'll pick up a copy.

If not, I'll probably play it on switch first.

The Wii U is pretty much looking like it is going to be the last real Nintendo home console in my eyes. Too bad it was so underrated.

The Switch presentation pretty much changed Breath of the Wild from a firm "meh" to "holy fuck day one," but the Switch itself is at "will get when XB2/Megami Tensei hits." So yeah, definitely going to pick it up on Wii U unless there are big performance issues.

I think. Even if i liked some of the content they showed at the presentation. It was very Wii U esque at that price i know they can do lots more. And i was totally going to Switch off in March

I doubt the WiiU version is going to be awful, they can still optimize it a bit. If it just drops during explosions I'm pretty fine with that

I am. My dad is going to want to play and I'm not sharing the Switch version haha.
Nah I probably will.

Yup, Im totally buying this on Wii U. The trailer they showed last night was a bit too anime for me but its Zelda so Im definitely in day 1.

Where does it come from? About WiiU is gimped version.

The fact the max resolution for it on WiiU is 720p, Switch is 900p. The Switch one also looks to have better graphics and a more consistent frame rate.

WiiU is without question the gimped one of the two.

Hey guys. In times like these im really glad Nintendo didn't listen to the crys of minor fanboys and cancelled the Wii U
Version like some people wanted

Have NO desire to buy a Switch until Mario... and even then might just skip and pray next generation is better :/

Will day one BotW on Wii U for sure though.

Seeing how first 6 months of Switch's release we are getting must have games from Nintendo like Zelda, Arms, Mario Kart Deluxe, & Splatoon 2

FTFY. Also I wouldn't consider Mario Kart Deluxe must have unless you're a fan of the battle mode, there's no new race circuit. Barely anything worthy to pay full price for.
