Who will buy Zelda BOTW WiiU ?

What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

I have a WiiU, so I'll just get this. It will be worth about as much or slightly more as I spend on it on launch day anyway, so I'm cool with buying it and buying the Switch version later on after the Switch gets a price cut.

Wii U for me until the switch drops in price, I am not going to pay £70 for pro controller, then pay for online service where I have to use my phone to chat and the free game only lasts a month.....

I need to see resolution/framerate port comparisons before I will even buy the game. I want to see proof the Switch version runs better and looks better.

After the presentation, leaning towards WiiU BotW and waiting for E3 to hear about Switch software.

Maybe I'll crack and just get a Switch, though.

Depends on how well it runs. (or how well Cemu runs it)

If it's significantly inferior to the Switch version I'll hold off buying it and get it along with the Switch once that gets more games.

Probably this.

As of now I doubt I'll have spare money to buy the Switch + games and whatnot at launch.

Definitely going with the Wii U version at launch. I figure I'll play through it, then trade in while the value is still likely good. Eventually I'll get a Switch, and when the price drops on BotW, I'll probably rebuy for the Switch.

But yeah, I'm completely turned off by the Switch at launch after the news yesterday. Will probably wait a year or more to jump in.

Had it preordered at Best Buy months ago (because I have GCU and used the Visa $20 off $100 deal, don't pre-order otherwise).

Nintendo needed to throw me one hell of a strong pitch to get me to buy a Switch early in it's life. A $250 MSRP, compelling early software other than just Zelda, and an intelligent take on user profiles and migrating from Wii U to Switch were the baseline I needed to see.

Instead I've seen absolutely none of that coupled with absurdly priced accessories and a copycat pay for online system that is "free" for the first month but isn't fully implemented until the fall, several months later.

Basically they took me from "I'll buy a Switch sometime in 2018 when there are plenty of worthwhile games out but without having to fight Nintendo's manufactured hardware shortages." to "I might buy a Switch, someday, if the value proposition ever lines up in a meaningful way."

Glad I kept my Wii U though, but I knew that was going to be the case before yesterday's showing.

Me. Not getting a switch until it's much cheaper ($200 max). Also I won't get it until there's a lot of single player games I'm interested in cause I'm not paying for online when I already do for PSN.

I think my habit of investing in Nintendo hardware a few years into it's lifecycle will continue. I got the GC version of TP and a $99 console at the time of the Wii launch and feasted on it's inexpensive library for years. Then got the SM3DW Wii U bundle a few years ago for $229 and did the same. Then a $99 3DS this black friday. It works well.

Also just like Twilight Princess this version of the game is going to be the one to hold its value in the long term.

I sold my copy for $60 about a year before the HD version was announced. No complaints here.

Definitely getting it for wii u i got it pre-ordered for 40 dollars :).

Yo Wii U looking extra nice after switch reveal, I can play mario kart and splatoon online for free

Yup went ahead and got a Refurbished $200 console from nintendo. Beats paying $400+ for the switch and not have anything to play until Holiday when Mario comes out.

Since the Switch is way more expensive than I expected in Canada, I think I'm going to stick with my Wii U preorder that I got 30% off on Amazon.

Yeah, I can't buy the Switch at Launch, and want to play Zelda, so WiiU it is. Even if it has some performance issues, I've played many games that have been memorable gaming experiences despite their performance (Shadow of the Colossus on ps2, Perfect Dark Multiplayer choppiness), so I'm willing to take the chance. Hype levels are of the charts after that latest trailer, so I want it sooner than later.

WiiU version day 1 for me.

TBH, I'm not that satisfied with the Switch Launch lineup. I'm not going to buy a $300 device to play a game when I can just buy the game only on a system I already have.

Me. For that price and that lineup (barely any true exclusives), I can't justify getting the Switch at launch.

BOTW being 900p on the Switch is a decent upgrade but I'm fine with the Wii U running in 720p when they're otherwise largely identical.

What's the source of this comparison pic?

Didn't cancel my preorder for a reason.

I'll be playing Zelda without having to drop $500 on a new console and the game itself will only be around $50. Sold.

I may look at the getting the Switch edition later on. The funny thing is the only difference with this game may be visuals and performance. It's not like we will miss out on how it plays because we don't have the tablet controller.

I bought a Wii U and Switch version. Bought the game where it was originally meant to be played on the Wii U and Switch is bonus

Would anyone be surprised if they cancelled the Wii U version to force us to buy the Switch?

Might not be the worst business move...

I actually thought the Wii U version was going to end up coming out months later. I don't think they would push it back now after telling everyone that both versions come out at launch. People would be pissed, lol.

There's so much coming out in that feb-april window for consoles i already own (Nier, Horizon, Persona 5, etc) that if I really must play Zelda I'll grab the Wii U version.

I will be. While I tend to buy all Nintendo consoles, I won't be there at launch for Switch. There aren't any titles I am interested in really on it other than BotW at this point. And I'm not waiting any longer for BotW.

where is my fps counter

30-29 fps on Switch vs. 30-25 fps on Wii U

I'm pretty confident in that assessment, lol, the Jimmy Fallon footage showed us zero framerate drops when an explosion happens compared to Wii U where the framerate always drops.
