What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

Wii U. It's where this Zelda belongs.

Also, this game looks so beautiful and detailed that play it in a 6 inch screen would be a capital crime.

Considering the only Switch game in the lineup I would buy is Zelda and I already have a WiiU....

There would have to be significant performance problems with the WiiU version for me to buy the Switch version at this stage. (which I doubt since it was a WiiU game at first)

see i was worried this'd be like TP again (where the GC version was clearly superior) but hearing that it doesn't seem to use tablet controls much, switch all the way for me - it's pretty much this + bomberman at launch
This is specifically because they axed the features.

They want to use parity to drive people to the switch version and thus buying a $300 device at launch.

The fact the max resolution for it on WiiU is 720p, Switch is 900p. The Switch one also looks to have better graphics and a more consistent frame rate.

WiiU is without question the gimped one of the two.
It was always 720p from the beginning, so it's not really gimped. If anything the Switch version is only a marginal upgrade over it. The graphics didn't look better to me either outside the res.

Just want to ask one more time, do you think the Wii U version will play best with teh Pro Controller?

Will it use any gamepad features?

WiiU! Reason being since I bought it for the new Zelda that never came. Well its finally coming. It's time to brush off the dust and play the WiiU one last time.

If the framerate is solid on the Wii U, I'll go ahead and order on the Wii U and wait until Odyssey to get a Switch.

If not, well, I should start saving up.

Twilight Princess all over again.

Sadly, this might be the first major Zelda I never play. No intentions right now of ever getting Wii U or a Switch.

You'd think the Wii U version would be the master version, since it started as a Wii U game. If anything it might have more bugs etc... on the switch.

I will be. Unless I happen to get a better job, I just can't shell out $300 for a potentially better running version of Zelda without any other game at launch. It would be like, to me, buying the Wii U all over again except while I would have a game to play for a month until MK8 Deluxe I just... don't see the reason in buying Switch when I have MK8 on my Wii U already to play (and I currently do not play it) and I could just save a lot of money and buy the Wii U version of BOTW.

In addition, I'm also banking on the Zelda team having ironed out most of the frame dips. I have never seen Nintendo release a game in the last decade where there were a ton of framerate dips; noticeable dips that would impact my enjoyment and ability to play the game.

I'm not at all suggesting it'll run perfectly on Wii U but they'll have made sure it will run well enough on that system. They would not intentionally leave it gimped in that sense.

Also just like Twilight Princess this version of the game is going to be the one to hold its value in the long term.

They will either delay the wii u version (like twilight princess) or outright cancel it. With how awful the switch looked they got to bait people somehow.

I will be waiting for reviews. Since BotW is the only thing that might make me consider getting a Switch at launch, if the Wii U edition is on par I'll probably just get that and wait for Switch.

well, really depending on performance, but I am leaning towards Wii U version at the moment. If I really liked the game, I might get switch and switch version as well.

For me, who doesn't have much time in front of TV, portable is where the gaming is at - so I really like Switch. Just not enough to pre-order for day1 craze.

That's what I'm thinking too. I don't expect a huge print run for the Wii U version, since the Wii U base is basically set in stone and they want to push people onto Switch using this game. I'll go against my usual buying practice and pick this up at $60 as soon as it comes out, I don't expect the price to ever drop due to above circumstances, and will probably be well above MSRP a year post-release.

Also, did they clarify on the WIi U version release date? Didn't see it anywhere in the presentation.

It's coming out day and date with the Switch version, March 3rd.

I will. I went from hyped to pre-order a Switch with Breath of the Wild on day one to just getting the Wii U version and waiting for a price drop and some actual new games to fill out the library. This is somehow even more of a letdown than the Wii U reveal.

Didn't plan on getting a Switch until later this summer or next year after I start my second career the following summer, I will probably double dip. Just depends on the itch.

Who will buy Zelda WiiU waiting for Nintendo Switch can mature to become an attractive purchase?

There will be differences between the Switch and the version of Zelda WiiU?

I almost was ready to jump to Swith for Zelda but there isn't enough compelling me to pay what will be close to $450 for a console, game and pro controller. So I'd rather hold off on Switch until I see more. Maybe wait for a good coupon or sale or giftcard deal etc that always come up.

I can deal with WiiU Zelda. It looked good enough on the streams

I was getting both versions anyway. I wonder how under produced the wii version will be? Nintendo needs people to buy switchs

Me if things dont change drastically.

The european pricepoint of the console and the shitty internet paywall have sour me buying the console until super mario odyssey.

Me. I don't want to jump through hoops and wait in line to buy a switch at launch. Especially for a game that'll be fairly on par with the version for a console I already own.

Are there any performance advantages between the Switch and the Wii U version except the 180p difference in docked mode?

From the sounds of it, the Wii U experience sounds close to playing it undocked on Switch, at least from a resolution perspective and I'm guessing frame-rate. I'm not sure if there are any major differences in graphical assets.

I'll either get it on Wii U at launch, or if the U-Switch disparity is too big performance wise just hold off until I get a switch, whenever that is.

My most recent experiences with Zelda haven't been too great, and I have seen enough to be cautious about this one. I'm not really going crazy waiting for it.

It depends, if the performance on the Wii U is acceptable I will get it, because I will only buy the Switch when it have a better library

Going to wait for a DF face off. If the Wii U version is inferior then I'll just wait until Switch consoles are available(think I missed all the pre orders while I was sleeping) and pick up that version.
