Who would you rather vote for President? Donald Trump, or a random US citizen?

Just a random thought experiment I had, while considering Trump's consistently plummeting approval rating. It seems very likely that Clinton will handily beat him in a general election. Sanders would easily be able to do the same.

In fact, it seems like anyone could beat Donald Trump in a general election contest.

So here's a hypothetical. Let's say for whatever insane reason, you're given a ballot for US President with two options on it.

1. Donald Trump

2. A US citizen selected at random, who fulfills all constitutional requirements to hold the office. In case you slept through 8th grade Social Studies, they are as follows -
  • Be a natural born citizen of the United States. Currently, we interpret this as being born on US soil, or a child of two US citizens.
  • Be at least 35 years of age.
  • Have lived in the United States for at least 14 years.

How would you vote? How do you feel America would vote?

Trump has like 40% of the votes. Or there abouts.

So I assume whoever you pick there is like a 40% chance he will be a total fucking shithead like Trump.

Since the odds are in favor of finding someone better, I would roll the dice and pick a random.

with the view that they would be so reliant on advisers eventually it would all work out

This is my thought process here. Also, like 30 % of the population doesn't even vote so that means that really only about a quarter of the population are guaranteed to be dipshits.

Trump. At least the dude has some businesses savvy as opposed to some other random asshole.

No, he doesn't. Trump inherited his wealth and had he put his money in an index fund and did absolutely nothing with it he would be wealthier than he is now. Trump is a terrible businessman.

Random.

I'll take a worryingly high chance of ending up with a racist moron over a 100% chance of ending up with a racist moron, thanks.

No doubt, Random. I like my chances at not finding an openly racist and in general just a horrible person.

I mean even if they were halfway decent or a closet racist they would be better than Donald Trump. Sure they would likely be incompetent but I'd take that over damaging.

It doesn't even have to be a random citizen. It could be a random person anywhere, it could be a terrorist and I'll choose him/her over Trump.

Trump has the money, network of connections and friends necessary to fill out proper heads of federal executive departments, however flawed some (maybe all, who knows) could be.

When you rely on Random Joe or Jill, so, too, come his or her picks for staff.

It pains me to take Trump.

I mean would it really be that hard? They would be President. Get an adviser, hell even the last president or somebody else in the WH that they know from tv or wherever and get some advice. People wants these jobs, it's not like they have to force them on people.

This. And it wouldn't take much to be better so you actually have a high chance of coming out ahead, even if only slightly.

And LOL at people thinking Trump is a good businessman. The only reason he has money left is multiple bankruptcy, which people don't seem to get does not mean you have no money( I am sick of hearing the false" he made himself rich again") but is something people do that allows them to keep assets while trying to keep business afloat.

Which also makes the whole "he'll take on Wall Street" sentiment laughable. I'm not the first to say it, it's even been said here, the only reason trump isn't in Wall Streets pocket is because he IS Wall Street.

So definitely random.

No, he doesn't. Trump was born into absurd wealth and had access to the best education, plus millions upon hitting adulthood. He's performed below-average.

Random. My big concern for the election is the Supreme Court aspect, and there's decent odds a random would pick better than Trump would.

Trump is essentially a random policy machine anyway, just heavily weighted towards things I don't want to see happen.

random is only like 1 in 330 million chance you get trump

well, fewer if you consider the stipulations in OP

but like, way more than 1 in 20

It's a tabletop game joke, where rolling a natural 1 typically does exactly the opposite of what you're trying to do.

I don't think there are many people worse than Trump. I guess I could have a KKK member or something chosen, bit I'd rather have a (pretty good) chance of someone better.

Random person is my answer.

Random guy. Definitely random guy.

Trump is a very special and very unique type of psychotic nutjob. If you picked someone at random, there's a very good chance that the person is not as much of a psychotic, vile piece of shit as him.

Random citizen. They'd have a board of advisers likely less insane than Donald Trump and his crew. They'd likely be leader in title only.

I'd vote for the random. Could a random person be worse than Trump? yeah. But I think the odds would be in my favor of that not being the case.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
The Dems could nominate a dog straight of the pound and name it Adolf Hillary and it has my vote over Trump.
