Hardy Boyz were my favorite in their prime. Even when they never won ladder matches, they gave their best.

Top would be very hard though. Diesel, Razor, HBK, Psycho Sid, Stone Cold, The Rock, etc. All are my favorite from 90s.

HBK would be my favorite when counting the entire career.

Macho Man is the most complete wrestler in the history of wrestling. Second to him his Steve Austin after he left WCW. I was lucky enough to get ECW and I saw Austin's run on that and he was as good there as he was doing Stone Cold. He would beat out Macho if the injuries didn't take a toll on his in ring work while he was Stone Cold or if WCW didn't screw him after they signed Hogan and his pals.

Texas Tornado is one of the best ever when you consider the fact that he wrestled with one leg and was still a better wrestler than 75% of the guys he was working against.

I would have to say... HBK
In his prime he had great in ring ability and the ability to put over for whom ever he was working with during a match. Gave us one of the most iconic ladder matches that really started a trend. His mic skills were amazing, whether you loved him or loved to hate him, you still loved him.

I really recommend the Steve Austin Show. It's a Podcast. He has had some old and new wrestlers and interviews them. It really gets me Randy
Savage
.

I put HBK and Brett Hart in the same tier. Both are great in the ring, but average at best out of it.

Steve Austin ECW:

Austin and Pillman were gonna get over no matter what characters they played.

There have been far too few mentions of The Rock. Is it because he's the obvious choice, so people pick others?

If it's not Rocky, it's Austin or Foley. Foley might not be as charismatic on the mic like Rock or Austin, but he's Foley dammit.

I thought this was a question of overall abilities. Not just charisma, mic work, ring work, but a combination of the 3. If its based on overall Macho Man was it. High level at everything for a long time.

Are we ignoring drawing ability? HBK is the best performer and worker, but he couldn't draw for shit and that keeps him from being on that greatest tier of most charismatic and popular wrestlers.

Taking everything into account, I'd give it to Flair. Austin would be a shoe-in if he hadn't had that neck injury that changed his wrestling style.

What?
In terms of mic skills?

During WCW days I would have to say I really enjoyed the cruiserweights and intercontinental champs more than the heavy hitters like Macho Man. My top 3 would have to be Guerrero, Malinko, and
Benoit
at that time.

Makes me wish I still had my old VHS's with Raw and Nitro on them.

Yes, him and Brett in their primes were both average mic workers imo. I liked ECW Jericho more than both of them overall. Not to far off from them in the ring while having more charisma and top tier mic work.

I never really watched wrestling so I go based on their character.

Hulk Hogan
Captain Lou Albano (He was Mario!)
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

Its still Hogan in and out of the ring. He isn't jobbing to anybody.

I remember at the time, that match really irritated me.

Jericho is great, I think I enjoyed him most when he went to WWF. It's too bad he always seems to start out strong and then he kinda fizzles out (if that makes sense).

Rock is one of the best talkers for sure, his timing is the best, but his weakness is that he was very much about catchphrases. If you rewatch some of his promos today, after the Smackdown Hotel, If yaaa smellalala, Know your role and shut up! etc have worn out, his promos seem weaker. I am in the process of rewatching RAW during the Attitude era and after HBK left, i think Vince gave the best promos in the entire business

While promos from Flair, HBK and "Mr. McMahon" character still hold up today, they had fewer predictable catchphrases and used them far less

HBK was quite insane at times, as he would often use real life issues in his promos, such as accusing Bret of cheating on his real life wife and being a cry baby backstage, it was very cutting edge, and considering todays WWE, its even more cutting edge today than ever before.

Shawn had this thing he was winking at you during his promos, he is just some wrestler doing a promo, yet he is leaving tons of hints of real life backstage problems and constantly making you second guess what was real and what was not. Rock was very much about just giving the fans what they wanted. Of course Shawn was also coked out of his mind in the mid-late 90s and had all sorts of issues, its probably why his promos were so memorable.

As a teenager i found Rock to be the most fun to listen to, but as i grew older i appreciate Ric, Vince and Shawn's promo skills much more

Rock is overrated. He's good, no doubt, but there are simply better choices. I'd take CM Punk over Rock, even at this stage.

Overall best is possibly Austin.

One of The Rock's dumbest catch phrase or gimmick was when he talked about the pie.

The Rock in his prime was better than CM Punk at everything. The Rock called a lot of great matches for years before he jumped to acting. Hell, he got a good, lengthy match out of Goldberg.

Stone Cold Steve Austin
Shawn Michaels
Kurt Angle
Bret Hart
Randy Savage
Chris Jericho

I loved HHH's heel run between 99 - 01, but i have been against him since 2002 when he was shoved down our throats.

Rock's return has soured me on him.
He uses the same roodie poo jabroni catchphrases and gay jokes that he always did.
Used to love him as a teen, but I've grown up.

For the best ever, I'd say HBK, CM Punk or Kurt Angle. All three have great charisma, mic skills, and technical ability.

If its a popularity contest, then Stone Cold. If its just based on mic skills, The Rock. But both of them aren't the greatest wrestlers, just great entertainers. HBK was the total package.

Umm The Undertaker hasn't lost at wrestlemania so clearly he is the best ever
until Cena beats him

Undertaker is probably the greatest ever just based on staying power. I can't think of anyone else who wrestled that long and had some of his best matches ever(Angle) in his 40s.

The Rock was better than Punk and Cena. Better at taking bumps and calling a match. Worked faster than both guys too.

The Rock was a master of jerking his foot like he has a seizure and slapping dudes. Let's make no mistake about the Rock, the dude is nothing special in the ring, he had amazing charisma though. CM Punk only comes (well)short to Rock in charisma.
