Macho Man Randy Savage.

Have to agree. While Hogan is perhaps the most iconic, he's lost a lot of that shine. Macho is forever cool.

Nope he got her during his Indy days I think it was colt cabana that confirmed it

I think Punk confirmed it himself, too. I recall listening to an interview with him last year, where has talking about how Sherri Martel would "turn you into a man".

I don't think a lot of Wreslting fans realized how attractive she was either, because of all the crazy hair and makeup she would always be rocking.

I've always said it was Chris Benoit. Monstrous actions outside the ring haven't diminished his in-ring work, which was consistently some of the best North American professional wrestling ever had.

But in the Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair debate for the total package, I always sided with HBK. It's kinda crazy to think about how he came back from a potential career-ending injury and basically had a second half to his legacy. Just an amazing performer, top to bottom.

If you've not seen Beniot's matches in New Japan try and check them out. Had some absolute belters.

Beniot was just the Dynamite Kid mark 2. You watch Dynamite and Beniot wanted to be just like him.

How is Macho Man still not in the WWE Hall of Fame?

He and Vince had a falling out and Vince wanted nothing to do with him for a while (no one knows why for sure but there are rumours out there). After he died WWE wanted to put him in but his brother said he had been told by Randy that the only way he would want to go in would be if his brother and father were also inducted with him. WWE didn't want to do that so he isn't in.

He supposedly deflowered Stephanie, though everyone that would know if it's true that's been asked about it has either denied it or danced around the question.

I don't buy the thing with his brother and father, either.

I agree that Michaels having as great of a comeback he did was crazy. I really thought he was done for good after WM 14 outside of maybe 1 more match or two. Of course, by all rights Flair's career should have ended after the plane crash back in 1975.

On just pure in-ring work, I would rank Michaels ahead of Flair. Michaels I think is underrated by folks on the mic, but Flair was simply one of the best ever. That's what puts him over the top to me compared to Michaels as the OP mentioned mic skills counting.

Inspired by that Scott Steiner thread. Who's the best professional wrestler ever? To eliminate favorites and joke posts, the wrestler has to be the best combination of mic skills, charisma, and technical ability.

I don't get it. Isn't wrestling fake? What technical abilities are we talking about? Acting?

In part, yes. It's obviously more physical, though, but acting is a big component. You need to have the knowledge and ability to perform and take a wide variety of moves safely, all the while being aware of the need to effectively sell whatever action you're doing. For instance, anyone can apply a side-headlock, but to really work it, to wrench it in and make it appear painful without ever actually damaging your opponent, that's acting backed up by technical wrestling ability - when you see someone praise a wrestler as a talented 'technical wrestler', it usually means that they're versed in a combat sport like amateur wrestling, shoot fighting, MMA, martial arts, catch-as-catch-can, etc, that gives them a base of knowledge to make their in-ring professional wrestling appear all the more believable.

lol @ the marks saying CM Punk.

HAHAHAHAHA.

Please.

My vote goes for Jumping Jeff Farmer.

Greatest talent I've ever seen.

Hiroshi Tanahashi consistently puts on great matches. This thread reminds me that I have a ton of NJPW to catch up on.

You should come to WrassleGAF more often and enjoy the love. NJPW is the #1 product baby!

A little while back I saw a video of some interview, The Genius said that he told them they could induct him without the family if they wanted. His tone was fairly dismissive, like he didn't care any more. Maybe he's sick of people asking him about it.

I was a big time lurker of wrasslegaf. Thats where I got convinced to give NJPW a chance by you I believe. Assuming you are the poster previously know as sunflower. I just read that Tanahashi is/was feuding with Nakamura so I'm really excited to see that.

Edit: or maybe it was fallingedge, my fellow forever bulking bro.

Yes it's me, Sunny! Don't break kayfabe!

Glad you're enjoying NJPW. Great promotion.

Madusa. Predominantly because she drives monster trucks.

Runner up prize goes to Kelly Kelly because she gets me genuinely excited.

In all honesty, Shawn Michaels really is the best professional wrestler ever. He's the most complete wrestler to ever buckle up his O'Neil boots. Even with the 4 year break, his longevity should be something to be admired. The man did it for over 20 years, and did his best to never turn into a has-been drunk carney who does $50 appearances at Wisconsin wrestling conventions just to get by.

He's one of the only ones to retire as one of the greats, come back and arguably perform better than he did in his physical prime. Think about that for a second, he retired in his prime, came back 4 years later, and then had more MOTYs than in the first half of his career. He works as a face, he works as a heel, he works as anything.

This thread should just be retitled "Who is your favorite professional wrestler ever?" because any answer other than Mr. Hickenbottom is a lie. So please, don't tell me a lie.
