Who's the best professional wrestler ever?

HBK
Nash
Hall

Nash and Hall were impressive because of their size. All three were impressive on the mic. Just fucking hilarious.

If Brock hadn't left in 2004 and stayed with wrestling this whole time, I think he'd be the best ever. For real best ever. His rate of improvement from 2002-2004 was incredible. Just his rate of improvement from April 2002 to November 2002 was insane. Then he takes 8 years off and is somehow even better. He was easily a top 5 in the world when he left and that was really only after 2 years of full time wrestling.

Agree 100%. Lesnar is phenomenal.

Nash was terrible in the ring. That being said, I love him. Kevin Nash might have been the coolest dude on Earth to this 11 year old kid circa 1998.

I agree with that Lesnar is the right type of insane for Pro-Wrestling. Each match he's had since Lesnar returned he's almost broken his neck from some bizarre move he attempts to do and then he smiles HE SMILES

Most likely CIMA. Guy has as much charisma as any American mainstay and he has an insane amount of technical skill.

BxB Hulk shows a lot of promise to reach that same balance someday, but he's had several matches before that seemed phoned in so I can't help but feel he may burn out before reaching his full potential.

Outside of those two? Likely Jushin Lyger.

Best we had come out of ;the Americas were Eddie Guerrero, Stone Cold Steve Austin (who was actually an amazing shoot wrestler if you remember his stunning steve years), and Shawn Michaels. They could wrestle at an incredibly technical and fast pace if they chose to, they could sell, they could put over anything, and they could talk.

Uhhh Spike Dudley.

/thread.

Alt.

Billy Kidman. Loved watching that shooting star press he did.

Lol to both of those. Kidman had the worst SSP of any guy to use the move regularly. I do think Kidman was pretty great, though. But his SSP was awful.

If you guys are throwing in Jushin Liger than what about Hayabusa? He was very exciting to watch in the 90's as far as Japanese wrestlers are concerned.

Greatest wrestlers that had the complete package.

Tier 1
Randy Savage
Bret Hart
HBK
Kurt
Austin
I'll even say that Punk and Bryan can reach that level one day

Tier 2
Beniot
Jericho
RVD
Eddie
Henning

Tier 3
???

I'm a Bret Hart fan, but his promos were boring as hell.

The most entertaining for me would have to be Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Every time they were on TV, you were glued until that segment was over.

He really was. I think he would've evolved into the companies top heel had he not had that accident. RIP

He wouldn't have. He was wrapping up his in ring career when he died. Owen would have retired with in 2-3 years without the accident. He definitely wouldn't have been the top heel of the company under any circumstances.

My favorite characters when I watched were Hollywood Hogan, heel Rock and Razor/Hall. However taking everything in to account I would go with Macho Man and or Mic Foley.

Its CM Punk guys

In the Terry Funk vein, a guy who hasn't been mentioned mostly because there isn't a ton of footage of him is Dick Murdoch. I'm comfortable in saying he's an all time great in the limited footage I've seen.

Funk is a good call, but I'd definitely agree with Murdoch as well. It's weird that his Japanese stuff is more readily available, but it's the same with Bockwinkel, another wrestler who I think deserves a mention.

Hayabusa was a great high flyer, but he didn't have the same technical skill as Liger and didn't have the breadth of opponents like Liger did. A few of his matches are up there, but nothing he did compares to Liger's feud with Naoki Sano IMO.

If we're gonna disqualify guys for being dicks it'll be a short list. Original monster heel HHH was great(he's shit as a face though so I don't think he belongs on the list but that's beside the point). Even if he was a dick, hell the most famous dick in Wrestling is HBK, is he disqualified?
Didn't disqualify anyone, but HHH isn't even in the same program. He's probably one of the most overrated guys in the last 20 years but WWE will tell you otherwise.

What's funny about Bret, and somebody like Batista where, through years of being a face and getting called crummy on the mic, but once they went heel became suddenly entertaining - it's like, how'd that happen? Being a face in the WWE holds certain people back. Or most, I'd say. Only ones off the top of my head who could do both face/heel work brilliantly were Jericho, Rock, Austin, Angle, Guerrero, Savage, and to a degree Edge (E&C). I don't think Shawn Michaels was somebody who was necessarily great doing so as a face. A heel? Absolutely, because he was a total dick, but he wasn't the same as a face, and in both his feuds with Jericho, Jericho was the one really impressive. JBL is another who I also really liked but he never really got a lot of opportunities doing so as a babyface.

I liked Bret's babyface promos a lot, similar to an Arn Anderson. Understated and laid back most of the time, but when he ramps up, shit gets REAL. Bret had an authenticity to him.

The thing I always bought the most from Bret was the way he would lay on the mat after a bump. He never laid flat and straight. His legs were always bent instead of being straight as board. For some reason, it always really stood out to me as a kid that Bret was real when other guys were fake. I couldn't really find pictures of it.

Best Gimmick - The Undertaker ....no gimmick to this day passes his
Best Crowd Heat Worker - Ravishing Rick Rude - Guy could talk shit like nobody else
Best Face Crowd Worker - Probably the Rock at the Stone Cold vs Rock era peak
Best Wrestler - Shawn Michaels...Brett Hart was close but Shawn really is the complete package
Best Promos - Macho Man....OOOOOhhhhhhhhhhh Yeeeaaaahhh

Best Current day Wrestler - Daniel Brian ......Cm punk a close second...these 2 in a match reminds me of the rock and stone cold days.....except with actual wrestling

Greatest of All Time
As shitty as his move set was you think wrestling you think
Hulk Hogan

The guy was a freak who could promo...wrestle and bring the crowd to their knees
even though he should of retired 20 years ago he has done more for wrestling than any other wrestler

Bonus they need to retire right now
John Cena.....guy is as boring to watch as shit rolling down a wall

Always loved his corner bumps taking the turnbuckle, and Owen did it as well.

I was probably most entertained by Stone Cold v. The Rock during the Attitude Era, and WCW when the NWO and Goldberg came in. My favorite promos were everything The Rock did back in the day, along with Stone Cold when he started his "What?" gimmick. Too funny.

I've always said it was Chris Benoit. Monstrous actions outside the ring haven't diminished his in-ring work, which was consistently some of the best North American professional wrestling ever had.

But in the Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair debate for the total package, I always sided with HBK. It's kinda crazy to think about how he came back from a potential career-ending injury and basically had a second half to his legacy. Just an amazing performer, top to bottom.

Goddamn, this is is like the best match ever.

the Backlash rematch the next month is almost as good, believe it or not. They're up in Canada too, so they're all on Benoit side and can't STAND Shawn Michaels. HBK putting Benoit in the sharpshooter was one of the loudest, sustained boos I've ever heard at a PPV.
