I wouldn't say it's millennials only.
As a whole, I find the internet to be extremely fast to ban, cancel, execution.
There is no room to listen to other guy. No room for warnings, discussion and so on. Just go with the flow.

It is the internet...we are all just writing shit. It should be allowed and encouraged to leave honest opinions. Meanwhile it is completely other way around.
No matter what you say online, someone will not like it. In person, I have right to discuss and argument my opinion but not online. You get cancelled and that's it.

I might be too 90s when it comes to the internet but I much preferred the discourse back then. Now there are so many rules, no-go discussions/opinions... First of all - it is boring and 2nd of all - it vastly limits the freedom of speech.
I am not talking about Neogaf. it is 85% fine. But places like reset, reddit and similar.
You can't say anything out there. You are ONLY allowed to go with the flow.
the moment you even question anything, you are banned and removed.
This is not healthy. it will and is actively ruining society and people communication.

edit: yeah, I am writing this post as reaction to me being banned from gta5 performance threads I am not sure what for. Probably pointing out s performance shown in some video... I didn't attack anyone. I am recommending this console daily to friends who are not too hardcore. It is just discussion.....
But normally Neogaf is GOOD with all of this. But I've been thinking about this topic (speech on the internet, not gta 5 lol) for some time now.
I do think we should allow more free speech and a bit MORE console "warring" for fun. As it is now, I feel attacked for a mere fact that I own a PS and you can't answer in any way sometimes.

That's one thing I've noticed about her. Especially for someone who even though she grew up in the US, she doesn't consider herself American. She is way more aligned with woke culture than anyone from Haiti or Japan would ever be.

Typically social media and forums start out small and open minded. If it gets big, then everyone hops on saying whatever they want. Then, its gets out of control and rules are set in.

The rules changed too. Every big site that gets big gets moderated. But the moderation goes beyond bans. As you said' now it's cancel culture, people checking someone's LinkedIn or Twitter account where it's got to a personal level. Although to be fair, if someone wants to make themselves out there (Hey check out my Twitter and here's a pic of me too!), then get ready for people ragging on you. So if you cant take the heat, make an unknown alias account.

At least way back, people had anonymous accounts. Now it's a combo of unknown people and real life linked identities.

But at the end of the day, let losers be losers. The vast majority of crossing guard internet users are low lifes. At least for politicians and celebs faking a persona they are doing it fame, career boosts and endorsements. A no-name bum at home acting like an idiot has nothing to gain acting like a white knight.

But if you look at the kinds of people who go ape shit on social media/forums, it makes sense why they do so. Nothing makes them feel better than dragging down others to their shitty level. Thats why so many of them hate people with money and better jobs. So if they make someone drop a rung or two down the ladder via cancel culture it makes them feel good. If the guy loses his job and the bank repossesses his BMW even better.

Imagine being such an omega that you twist the words of someone and lie about something in order to try to make someone look bad. The thread was a discussion about the purposeful uglification of women in videogames by modern day gaming companies, something that whiny millenials and zoomers have a problem with for some reason because they can't handle attractive people in fantasy form.

Also, imagine being such an omega that you don't like beautiful women. Real alphas prefer hot women because they have a choice in their mates. Omegas and betas detest beautiful women even in virtual form because they're either stuck getting no women or have to take whatever they can get, whether they're attracted to them or not. There's another gaming forum very similar to this one where they spent pages complaining about how a newer game has female characters that are "too sexy".

Growing up, I was poor in both the United States and in a third world country. And being poor in a third world country, when I was growing up, SUCKED sweaty, hairy donkey balls -- it was miserable. By comparison, being poor in the United States felt like being rich, and we NEVER had to worry about food.

So I will debate anyone who says that people in any general sense have to "worry about food" here in the United States. If you're a FUNCTIONAL adult, no matter how poor you may be, you will have access to food here in the US. (I say "functional" because if you're dysfunctional in a major way -- for example, drug addiction, a severe mental illness, a severe physical handicap, etc, then yeah you will struggle getting regular access to food.) If anything, the obesity epidemic mostly being a plight on poorer people directly shows that poorer people have access to food -- lots of it.

The problem isnt the money. Its that food is available to you. When you get a country like that, you arent short of food. Your only worry is having enough money to buy good quality food. You can buy cheap foods to survive.

Look at kids in yemen, who cant afford food. They dont have enough food in that country, because of war. That is what food shortage does to people.
