My parents were always talking about keeping a store of 2 weeks of food and essential supplies, for emergencies and stuff. I always thought that we’ll be fine, but now I see how wrong I was. When shopping supplies go back to normal we will keep some backup supplies of food and essentials for all time.

There's nothing wrong with prepping, but some people are acting like they're about to get in some underground bunker and not come out for years, while others are bulk-buying to profit off it, and that, combined with people thinking "I better stock up when I have a chance!" is what's fucking shit up.

Thankfully things have settled way down here in the UK and the panic buying was only really going on for the first week or so.
