"Why Rebel Wilson’s weight loss is sad for so many women like me" article from Telegraph

Hnrm... do you not think that being fat might make you clumsy? If a person is more than a few pounds overweight I find it highly likely that they are either incompetent, were poorly parented and are now living life on autopilot or have emotional issues.

How should Hollywood portray them? As athletes and intellectual sex machines?
How about as just normal people. Being fat over overweight doesn't mean you have to be a joke.

Vincent D'Onofrio has been in multiple roles where he carries himself with some grace and dignity.

We have Google. You could Google the information you need to lose weight. If you are fat there is a lack of focus on healthy living, a lack of motivation. If you are not motivated by the negative reactions you receive wouldn't that be indicative of an anti-social personality disorder?

Isn't it normal that you care about how others perceive you? I fundamentally disagree with your assertion, I think obesity is a social contagion. You can choose not to drink lots of soda or eat too much food, walking is free, and virtually everyone has all the information they could want about diet and exercise on the internet.

We don't need the government banning sugar or enforcing some arbitrary standards about how much sugar can be in bread. What we need is people that care about their bodies.

No one said anything about banning sugar except you. It seemed to me that Yoboman Yoboman critique was about your, let's say slightly sociopathic need to shame people who are fat.

That doesn't lead to sustained weight loss.

Imagine how great it is to die many years earlier, to have chronic diseases and to be less efficient in everything.

So just imagine being fat.

Well let's see if she can hold it like this. If you lost weight, there is really high chance of rebound, not because you atart to eat like pig again, because you feel like it, but your body would be in such a discomfort which brings mental issues, that you going to feel like you were better of before. I still struggle with it everyday, so I am trying to make somu muscle mass, to compensate for my lost fat cells.

However I lost 40kgs in 3 months, due to brutal surgery, which also probably played a big role. Thanks fully I earned back 10kg with mostly muscle mass and it's much better mentally.

A healthy body is more attractive than a sack of shit. I know it’s a hard pill to swallow, but you’ve had a lot of practice!

white a spiteful attitude. Good on Rebel Wilson, hope she maintains her healthyness.

The author's first problem was looking at a celebrity as a role model. We gotta get away from that. Yes these people seem down to earth and you feel like their friend, but its an illusion, thats acting. Go look up to a scientist or some shit.

Edit: I mean I'm guilty of this too, I see Keanu I click, dude is a cool cat. It's all voyeurism though, its uncomfortable, for the celebs too (even though most of them parodoxically starve for attention while also wanting to be left alone, its kinda sad really).

We are calling people being healthy as disappointing now?
It's just pure envy. People who become bitter because they are too lazy to make the effort and jealous of others who make it and succeed.

The fact that other lazy people justify their laziness by glorifying obesity doesn't help. They finally have an excuse to bullshit themselves and people like Wilson ruin it for them.

Well she's forty and the last thing you want is to grow older while still being overweight, that's like a really deadly combination. So I'm happy for her.

I wish I could get as fat as she was, seems impossible. I don't know how Americans do it (she's not American ofc).

It really is strange. There's likely a connection with just how normalized it is here in the States at this point, and the body positivity garbage isn't helping. Growing up the fat kid, I just assumed that's what happened as you got older. My dad was fat, and I was fat too.

Pulled my head out of my big fat ass in high school so I could get laid when i was 16, and now I double down on dieting and exercise if I ever hit like ten lbs over my BMI. Some people don't seem to have that breaking point, or they've convinced themselves it's 'natural'.

No one deserves to be shamed for 99% of things they do. A lot of people I know are just complete idiots, but that doesn't mean I attack them. I'm not a Liberal.

With that said, we need to do more to promote healthy lifestyles. Being fat is not a good thing. Period. It is unhealthy for your heart, joints, diabetes, and on and on. I don't care what a few chubby chasers with no confidence say, the overwhelming majority find you more attractive if you are slimmer.

Good for Rebel. She looks great, and is sure reaping the benefits of her new choices. Being fat is a new membership of the Democratic party. Any problem you face is not your fault. It is the other people who are mean to you because it is unrealistic for them to expect you to not weigh as much as a cow.

I know stereotypes and cliches and generalizations and all that are supposedly bad and sexist but hahah Rebel Wilson lost a ton of weight and this bitch really wrote and published an article about how she's a piece of shit for doing it, why are women like this

Losing weight doesn't take away from people being funny, quirky or anything, I promise you those people are jealous.

If anything being willing to put in the effort to change your life makes you more interesting/funny/quirky. Life should be an adventure, and experience. A lot of people just sit back and let it happen to them and cry about how they are the victims of big corporation selling them too much sugar and big government not doing a good enough job of being their daddy.

It's not just women. We aren't supposed to judge anymore. People are willing to do or think almost anything no matter how ludicrous so that they don't feel like they have to do some work to improve themselves.

Good for her.

Before we even begin to discuss "shaming" we should at least try to get to the point where we stop with this stupid "fact acceptance" movement and we can openly talk about it as a bad thing. I can talk to friends and family about their drinking or smoking habits and it's perfectly fine, but weight is still a touchy subject for many.

The other day I even saw someone post something about how annoyed they are by health workers (doctors, nurses, etc) bringing up their weight.

Fat people insults are crass. Most insults are crass though.

But...
Fat positivity, when specifically being about obesity though, is an indirect endorsement of diabetes and heart disease.

So no, people shouldn't be a dick to fat people but don't advocate for a grossly unhealthy lifestyle/condition. If a mother fucker is a little overweight, fine. But if they are grossly overweight, that is never good.

Want to do the right thing? Encourage overweight people to exercise and healthier eating and be cool about it. And if there is an underlying condition that makes weight loss hard, encourage them to see a doctor.

Not that Hollywood was ever really "normal", but weight loss stories like these would probably be the subject of happy/inspirational movies if Hollywood had any interest in promoting positive culture. A lot of people suffer from depression and anxiety due to their weight, and some people see celebrities and decide to improve themselves. Positive role models and all that. They've been preaching this idea since they started doing inner-city outreach / social change through the NBA.

And yet.... it is evident Hollywood does not care about health. They helped normalize the "eating-disorder model", profited, and then turned around and condemned it with a wink while profiting off it still. Hollywood partnered with tobacco companies to make smoking cool. Since it's entertainment, they regularly prop up vices and juvenile behavior as the ideal, because it's fun to live in that no-consequence fantasy world. But Hollywood forgot that it was fantasy and tried to impose their delusions on us.

Advertising from the 1930 on has been predicated on keeping your audience in a perpetual state of insecurity on image, class, and other factors. FOMO, green is always greener, keeping up with the Joneses, etc, etc.

Fun Fact: After WW2, modern marketing firms were primarily started and packed with people previously who worked in OSS, the then fledgling CIA, and other intelligence officials from the war. They brought sociology/psychology to the field.

Fun Fact 2: The paradigm of the rail thin model in the fashion industry was started because it was cheaper/less material to make clothing for the smallest size possible. Unhealthy underweight. So... yeah, that entire archetype was so fashion companies could save cash.

It tells you all you need to know about the mentality of the writer of this shit, that instead of adopting the mindset of "wow, she did it, so I can do it, too", it's "oh no, I felt better when you were fat".
But but 99% of fat people hardly eat anything, and its just bad genes!.

I feel sympathy in a sense in that most people aren't going to be able to afford dieticians and have personal trainers on tap so it's pointless looking to celebrities for inspiration really. but that is no excuse to further normalise obesity even if it can be hard to come back from and maintain.

I keep trying to tell myself that maybe this isn't a popular opinion. Maybe I'm overreacting. Then I remember this...

"...Every time the magazine comes out it is a "pinch me" moment..."

Representatives from Bobcat, Caterpillar, CASE, JCB and Komatsu were polled and gave the following, unanimous, response.

"Unfortunately Ms. McGriddle, we currently don't have the means to develop equipment capable of pinching that."

In the year 2081, the 211th, 212th, and 213th amendments to the Constitution dictate that all Americans are fully equal and not allowed to be smarter, better-looking, or more physically able than anyone else. The Handicapper General's agents enforce the equality laws, forcing citizens to wear "handicaps": masks for those who are too beautiful, loud radios that disrupt thoughts inside the ears of intelligent people, and heavy weights for the strong or athletic.

Why do people keep bringing Democrats or Democratic Party into this. Majority of the fat women in the south I’ve seen are republicans and conservatives. The majority of “liberal” women around here are more into fitness and taking care of themselves.

The same thing happened with Adele and her weight loss right? All kinds of bitter reactions all over the place.

This thinking is so common in contemporary times.

Note the... "for women
like me" part. It's actually not all about you, my dear. In this case, Rebel Wilson has chosen a healthier lifestyle and it definitely shows. Good on her. You should do the same instead of seeking justification for your own mistrodden steps in life by pointing to a famous person who has done the same. She has reformed, so should you.
