If you're stupid enough to hate Americans because of some random asshole who is considered 'newsworthy', you don't matter :)

Dude. She's on the news. Commenting the news. And there's also that Tucker guy. Who's a pretty important guy on CNN, if I judge it by the time he spent there during the election. So this is serious shit. I don't THINK she's the voice of america. If I would, I wouldn't spend any time on #ga or in this place. But you gotta admit, CNN is supposed to be a serious place, not a place for joking about dog sleys and the likes.

I disagree with the person who started this topic, we don't hate Americans because of these two people and what they said. We just equate them to the often photoshopped Iraqi PR Minister.

The problem is, I'm fairly certain a larger percentage of Americans believe in Coulter and Carlson than Iraqi's in the PR guy.

There are a lot of insane idiots' voices on the news. I don't understand what that has to do with "Americans" in general, though.

I wasn't saying all canadians hate you. I just, you know, I think that having someone like Tucker on CNN News saying stuff like that is an aberration. And I'm sorry, but a lot of americans think like this guy. Hell, you elected Bush (not you personnaly, but you as a country)!

I don't think any Canadians hate ALL Americans because of any one person. We all know that over 50 million people voted for someone other than Bush.

Yeah, and 250 million or so didn't even vote for bush. Seriously, Bush only got abou a sixth of the nation. That jackass.

Yeah, and how many of those 250 million didn't vote at all (excluding those under the legal voting age or those inelligble). By not voting, they weren't exactly making a statement against Bush.

I'd say that of those Canadians who don't like the USA, the vast majority of them don't like Republicans.

It's pointless to vote (in presidential elections) in some states (CA represent!). MTV lied to us!
I voted, but only because I was already there to vote for my local candidates and propositions.

If everyone who wanted to vote for Kerry but didn't because they lived in Texas or something actually voted, Kerry may have gotten the popular vote, which would have made a difference to some people who hate the country for voting Bush.

Also, wasn't there one Southern (Eastern?) state that's usually associated with a redneck mentality that went something like 51/49 for Bush?

Seeing as how Bush won the popular vote by 3million+, I highly doubt that. :p

And there are states that are stereotyped as "redneck" that are actually swing states (such as Ohio).

It's just a video of two attention whores that make a living by pushing buttons. They say outrageous things that get quoted in newspapers and other media outlets so they can sell their shows, books, etc.

[edit] Mike is right.

I think one reason that some people take this more personally that just two random idiots voicing anti-Canadian opinions is that they've both been given access to a supposed intelligent news channel (one of them given his own show), and both have large followings in the country.

There are loudmouthed idiots in Canada, but for the most part, they are ignored.

I don't think I've ever heard a journalist/host on CBC say something that stereotypical about your country. Odds are if they said anything as embarassingly stupid and detrimental toward a certain bordered country, their job would be in jeopardy.

"Only the french speaking ones oh hahaha I made a funny"

It's just embarassingly ignorant, and I don't even LIKE French Canadians ;)

This was a VERY smart remark to make in a thread a Canadian administrator has replied to 3 times within the past 15 minutes.

VERY smart.

That's why we sent this man to their network.

"STOP DESTROYING AMERICA!"

It started out as just filling time slots in a 24 Hr news network, but it has gotten out of control. I don't think anyone considers the current Fox network a legitimate unbiased news source, btw, ;b

You aren't offended by a silly comment like that.

Actually, I was referring to CNN. You know, the network that hosts Crossfire? The one the aforementioned Jon Stewart was on and publically denounced and ridiculed?

Yeah, nice try Obi-Wan. Don't pollute a thread that has serious discussion in it with a worthless comment like that again.

Oh, sorry. I thought you were reffering specifically to the video posted in this thread when you posted

...they've both been given access to a supposed intelligent news channel...

So I need to work on my reading comprehension. You don't need to take that tone with me.

Ok, my apologies Mike. But this idea of 'hating' countries because of popular people, or even politics is somewhat insane.

Ha, I wasn't taking any tone with you. That clip does have Tucker Carlson I assume? I didn't click it, but I have seen a video pieced with Coulter and Carlson in it, and I assumed this one had them both.

I realize that the majority of non-Republicans consider Fox News to be a joke of a network, but I don't think a similar sentiment is at least as wide spread in regards to CNN.

I'm fairly certain there are many Americans who hate other countries thanks to politics. I'm not saying it's right though, but there's little difference in saying, "I hate Americans" and "I hate America" to many people.

I dunno, politics and popular people seems to be pretty sane reasons for disliking a country. The only saner reason I can think of is 'You invaded/are occupying my country!'.

Plus yeah there are a fair bit of Canadians that don't bother to qualify statements. But saying "We hate Carlson, Coulter, Bush, Falwell, Limbaugh and their ilk, the NRA, ten commandment judges. We also really dislike the millions who support those people and are really leery of the political atmosphere of the south and midwest" takes a while and shortening it to 'those damn americans' just makes sense.

Now to be honest we should probably go 'those damn red americans'. I'll give you that.

It HAS both. And I agree with everything you said, Mike. This was the point I was trying to get across. Maybe the title was too agressive, especially on a topic like that. Notice that I've already said twice that I don't hate americans.

I do hate rednecks, too. And you could also notice that my nickname (Foreign Jackass) has a double signification, the "jackass" being a liberal symbol. And YES it is CLEVER.

Of course, it works both ways. Surely there were Bushheads from Utah to New York who didn't bother for similar reasons.

To be picky, I think the latest count (with absentees and provisionals and yada yada) is something more like 2.999 million. So no more of that 3 million+ downer talk. :D

Ann Coulter would be somewhat amusing if no one took her seriously. As it is, she's pretty dangerous and evil.

I would, however, fuck her brains out.

Yeah, but I don't care about them. I'd have encouraged Republicans in Liberal states to stay home because it's pointless. In case you haven't noticed, I'm quite anti-conservative.

These people do represent a segment of the American population.

There are assholes in every corner in the World...it just seems that these assholes are getting a lot of attention, support, and for some reason hold some credibility among some Americans.

Some Americans do resent comments made by Mrs. Parrish (who was in the video) as she called the Bush Administration "idiots"...but her wording wasn't clear and it seemed to include all Americans when taken out of context. Of course, this is exactly how FOX displayed her comments, resulting in a backlash. Her comments when taken into context were entirely fair, whereas the comments of Skeletor and Mr. Bow Tie were unfair and retarded (to put it lightly).

That a rabid dog like her is afforded a platform to espouse her toxic views speaks to how ingrained hatred (racism, religious extremism, etc.) is in American society. Ann Coulter doesn't represent the fringe -- she's MAINSTREAM. The author of the thread has a point.

I'm sorry if I insult anyone, but with Bush's reelection and the current state of politics, USA should be proud that they exist in the same continent as Canada not the other way around. Canada is a peaceful country which respects its citizens and doesn't put the corporations and the rich above everything else. The arrogance of that bi**h makes me furious.
