Why was (or still is) Linkin Park hated/ridiculed?

Linkin Park are like a nu-metal lite group. Whether it’s all the similar or not is irrelevant if that style is enjoyable. I’m not into metal generally, but I can throw on Hybrid Theory, Reanimation and Meteora and enjoy all three. Never liked any of the later stuff. I prefer Reanimation as I’m a Hip Hop fan first and foremost, so people like Pharaohe Monch and Chali 2na on remixes of songs I already liked is great.

Brings back a lot of memories. My pops used to be on the road all the time, he had this sick fucking sound system in his souped up truck so he’d buy a lot of cds. He used to play Hybrid Theory and the one song that always stood out the most was this beaut right here

Idk why but it always reminds me of those times we’d take a ride somewhere, plus Fight Club and The Matrix lol. This song, and Numb were the most impressive to me. Always respected them, the blew up kind of big over here. Felt different when everyone listened to the radio

They are good. It's console warring in a different genre. Music snobs are up there with the juvenile scum trying to shit up others enjoyment of a console.

Nu-metal was fun and introduced my malleable teenage self to more than the classic metal I was listening to at the time.
Thanks, Cure for the Itch

Kind of related, but I shocked all my friends recently at a chill-out by admitting this was my favourite non-dance song of the 00's.

Everyone rolled their eyes.

3 mins later everyone's doing ROLLING ROLLING hand motions.

Linkin Park is a lot like Third Eye Blind, everyone loves their songs when they come on, but nobody ever admits to being a fan.

I camped out in front of my TV to watch MTV for another iteration of the Mission Impossible soundtrack. Fuck me that still gives me a nice fizzy feeling in my nono-area.

Same goes for limp bizkit. I loved their first three albums growing up, all while at the same time keeping up with Sepultura, Megadeth, Rammstein, Machine Head, Fear Factory etc. Its cheese but when you put it on it was just good vibes. Some songs that were never singles are awesome like from their second album: No Sex, Trust and even N 2gother now...which is straight up old skool rap song. I donno, every album has its purpose. Id rather listen to LB for example while retouching photos for 5 hours VS Behemoth because it would put me in a completely different mood. Thats why I call bullshit on "true metalheads" that say they listen to death metal 24/7. A beautiful sunny day, on my way to work, I might wanna listen something uplifting instead of wanting to bash someones head in. And theres also a time when I dont want anything mellow because I want to be pumped up: gym, concert, motivation etc.

Metal is my favorite genre, and I am fairly versed in a lot of the subgenres within it, but any dude over 25 who says he listens to nothing other than metal is either lying to you or in desperate need of growing up or seeking therapy. Even their beloved metal bands listen to other genres.

Their music was super unique at the time. They also took things to a different level by all being very talented musicians. Plus their live shows kicked ass.

i remember getting a blowjob from a 28year old married mother (i was 23) in the back of her family kia wagon wedged in between 2 carseats with Points of Authority playing on the radio
every time i hear linkin park i think of that blowjob...good memories from me
