I like douchebags, I am a douchebag. I find nothing wrong with being a douchebag to morons, on the contrary for the reasons Drinky Crow mentioned it's actually quite healthy.

As for her and why she's stupid it's pretty simple. Just the typical redneck attitude of "I'm proud of [insert country]" and "oh noes he told a bad thing my country" is enough for me to detect that someone is an idiot.

So, let me get this straight. If you have pride in your country, you are a red neck?

I'm always impressed with the amount of drivel and horse shit you manage to spew. It must suck to have to put people down because your own self esteem is so low.

The woman is stupid, plain and simple. I'm not defending her so much as I am talking about how you should treat other people who act dumb in front of you. Unless they're asking for it (i.e. constantly insulting YOU), don't act like a douche. Real life is not 4chan :D

So a moron can earn your praise simply by being an asshole to other morons? If your guys system was consistent here you'd have to hate them both by your own definitions.

Uh, what? Unless I missed the part where the British guy was babbling "I'm proud of UK" and "God save the Queen" your post makes no fucking sense. On the contrary, he said he thinks of himself as a world citizen.

Maybe you're confusing the word "douchebag" with the word "moron". They're not the same.

Yeah hes a douche.... but the midwestern family looks shitty to. Did you see the mess the house was in the background?

And honestly, if I were to bet which of the kids are getting knocked up at 15, its going to be the midwestrn ones not the san francisco ones.

His main problem is that hes an asshole. "oh you can read" and so forth. His lifestyle however, is much better

Yea let's forget the past 200 yrs because that was fucking irrelevant.

If you're proud of your country you're usually ignorant. As I said you shouldn't always be proud of the place you happened to be born by chance. For example I admire the civilization of Ancient Greeks but I'm not proud of it because I had nothing to do with it.

If you have the typical attitude of babbling about being proud of your country and its military you're a redneck.

Because being proud in your country only means being proud of the territory, right?

So what? You can have the best lifestyle in the world and still be a terrible person.

Again, extremes. It was a case of a really dumb midwestern lady who may not end up being the best parent, and pompous douche with a degree in who-the-fuck-cares with a pretentious wife.

They both suck. America just needs to learn how to chill the fuck out.

The hell are you talking about? Is a moron simply someone who says "I'm proud of UK" and "God save the Queen"?

The guy is an idiot. He married some new age retard. If he is as much of a moron as the woman is in your mind, you have to hate him too.

They picked this guy because they know most of America thinks british people are like this. It plays on Americans stereotypes of british people. The smart people in this country know british people are nothing like that.

Youtube comment sums it up right.

Show plays off of dichotomies to create drama and a villian/hero scenario that passive TV audiences eat up. Taking sides in a heavily controlled TV show is the first dumb move.

I liked the look on the guy's face when he asked about the wife not being a proud American. I like that the kids sold their british father out on national TV.

Also, you don't change anyone by belittling them. They stop listening as soon as you start insulting. If you don't relate to someone then you can't improve them. Of course, being that forums are just shoutboxes and not real communication devices, such foolish thoughts should be expected from here.

Screw the woman. She's lost. Calling her stupid won't accomplish anything. It's her kids I worry about. They're telling their kids that he can get a scholarship for paintball. It's going to perpetuate stupidness.

Fowler should be offering to pay for college. Or at least give him a t-shirt that says

yea those san fran ones will get sick of their parents forced bullshit rebel and maybe hate their parents for the rest of their lives, hell I'll throw some drug abuse in there for good measure.

The American education system is flawed. There are likely so many other ways people can learn that I don't even think anyone has seriously looked into.

This whole time I've ignored the fact he is a prick, i mean British. LOL im gonna leave that mistake there.
The guy is a hateful fool, he just prides himself on the fact that he's educated.

-No. I'm not a proud American

-(Why should I be) because of the chance I was born in american soil? That was just the way it was and I had nothing to do with it personally.

I use this argument to every genius who tells me that he's "proud of his country".

The british guy is a douchebag with some excellent points. I like him.
Okay, so you were born in America, and now that your older, are you proud of your country, or are you not. Simple as that.

All right. Thanks for clearing that up. Good to know there's nothing to like about this country thanks to Bush's fuckery.

P.S. u r wrongh.

What do you think about immigrants who are proud of being part of their new country? Are they just dumbfucks as well?

Or perhaps some people have a sense of perspective that jaded natives just don't have?

Dichotomy? Did you pick up that word in "college" where all the other edumacated folks go to?

Just kidding.... the fact that it's a TV isn't really relevant, though. Sure, the editing is misleading... but the fact that he supplied the editors with material to make him look so terribly bad is telling.

Well, TV does more educating of the American populace than schools do. It's a stronger and longer influence in American lives than the educational years of grade school and the social years of High school.

The man's behavior was probably pushed by the producers. The producers select these families out of all others. You could swap many San Francisco and Missouri families and the probability of this encounter is likely very low.

Producer seems a potential reality tv character, recruits these families, encourages certain behavior for the camera, creates mindless stereotyped farce to manufacture drama.

The families involved have to be naturally this way for it to occur, but the combination of the families sets each member into defensive mode, which ratchets up the desired behavior the producer wants.

The fuck does any of that have to do with being proud of your country? I'm proud of my country because of the freedoms it guarantees to its citizens and the amount of opportunity it provides to many. Being proud of something does not mean you think it's perfect. You don't have to be responsible or present when the things you might be proud of were created or accomplished to be proud of something. I'm proud of my alma mater when the hockey team does well. Are you suggesting this pride is misplaced because I never scored a goal?

I'm Greek, I'm not proud of my country and I make fun of every redneck who tells me he is with such pride like he has contributed something great to this rotten society.

Christ, you're the most bitter, jaded individual I've ever experienced. Where would you like to live, if you had your choice?

You, sir, are an overweight, undereducated, over-opinionated, stupid American.

What's wrong with being proud of being an active participant in one of the oldest republics in the world? It's not an issue of "oh i was born on this patch of soil." As citizens we do our part to improve our country, there's nothing wrong with being proud of the results.

And by "results," I'm referring to larger things than the policies of the Bush administration.

Just want to say thanks. It's always nice when the opposition in any debate or discussion is ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RETARDED.

Yeah, Mr. fortified will not have many meaningful relationships in his adult life if he keeps up his attitude.

It's so random too, to just focus on IQ or intelligence. It's like saying: I'll be scornful and condescending to all people who can't run a mile in 5 minutes.

I saw that show . . .that guy is a fucking douchebag and I feel sorry for his kids cause they are going to have a fucked up view of the world.

I think there is only one way to settle this

Some people in this thread just don't understand that I have a problem with nationalists in general no matter what country they live in. Idiots who keep parroting that they're proud of their country are usually individuals who have contributed nothing to the civilization/society of that country and in reality have nothing to be proud of. I don't know about you guys but I'm usually proud of things I contributed to not things I was born near to.

I think the problem here is that the phrase "proud of my country" has been used so much that some people have forgot the meaning of the word proud.

Dude, national pride just means you have a high opinion of what your country is and stands for. It has nothing to do with what you've contributed, just being thankful you are apart of a nation you admire.

Most people grow out of such overzealous cynacism when they emerge from their teens. It's one thing to be a realist(I am; I don't expect much from people), but to dedicate yourself to finding fault in every human being in existence to just affirm your reasons to continue being cynical...it's going to be a lonely life my friend.

This is in general, not just regarding 'national pride'.

I watched the first clip. The chick was undereducated, over opinionated and overweight. The guy's analysis was on the money. What's the big deal, because she cried? Or because he spoke his mind? GTFOH, she admits her education is lacking and then she encourages the kids to slack off. They were both obnoxious, that's what happens when incompatible people are forced to spend time together.

I was born and raised in this country but I'll be damned if people here don't love to feel offended and use "it" as an excuse to lash out. Pride is great, but it is misplaced if you are ignorant. And that covers a huge portion of the country(/world).

The guy was obviously rude and overly aggressive to the lady in question. In his overweening self-conceit he does say what should be said about Hillbilly country, but I don't see how this lady innately shares the blame of Hicksville America just by being from Hicksville America.

Circumstance doesn't provide everyone with the opportunity to better themselves out of that culture. It all seems mis-applied without any form of tact or empathy.

Isn't nationalism in our upbringing? National Anthems, National Songs, the olympics, the world cup, territorial borders, etc. Aren't we from a young age encouraged to have "pride" in not only representing our country on a national level but "pride" in who we are as a country?

I'm Greek, I'm not proud of my country and I make fun of every redneck who tells me he is with such pride like he has contributed something great to this rotten society.

So, what you're saying is that you've contributed nothing to your own society?

What's wrong with being proud in your country of birth. If you're born in America you should at least be proud in the fact that you have a leg up than a large part of the world. Sure you were born on some land but it's the fact that what the country stands for, the rights you get at birth and the freedom that is what should make you proud to be an American, fuck all of you.

Yeah, my gf DVRs this show so she had me come watch the episode after she'd done so when it first aired. Pretty shocking.

The guy gives people like me a bad name...

I can't believe he talked to that woman like that. That piece of shit deserves genital herpes.
