Wii Screen Shot Thread (56k no)

you guys act like you've never played a guilty gear game...

guilty gear is basically one of the best fighters around. accent core is the 4th version of ggxx

edit: i'll be getting it on ps2 though, so i can play on a stick.

I've never played any Guilty Gear games. I know it's 2D...but is it as good as Soul Calibur or Tekken? 'Cause that's what I"m good at.

I've only played one, but, I would say yes. They are entirely different though. I remember GG having a huge focus on air combat.

i prefer it over tekken and it's definitely better than soul calibur.

the guys in this vid are pro. the game's incredibly balanced.

edit: this is from #reload, the 2nd version of ggxx. slash is the 3rd version, and accent core is the newest -- been in japanese arcades for a while now but it's coming to ps2 soon in japan. i'm not certain on US release dates or wii release dates -- i'm just going to import it for ps2.

what is this game and why does it remind me of the GMC commercial from the superbowl?

That game is Bioncle Heroes and it was a 3rd person action/adventure ruined by terrible wii control mechanics (you use the pointer to turn the camera, but the analogue stick to aim your weapon. WTF?). I must say that it features nice bloom lighting and great water effects.

oh its already out...i was looking for it in the IGN previews.

I just can't stop staring at that staircase and how sharp it looks. I could totally get into that if it has a nice difficulty slider to make it harder for me and easier for my wife when we play each other.

Your wife plays video games with you?

Niiiiiice!

The Wii HAS to be the least predictable console EVER, I mean, since when could we expect EA to show us how to do great controls, or a HARVEST MOON game to show off a console's graphics? It's crazy I tell ya. :)

dont forget the exclusive Rygar game. that totally came out of left field.

Yeah but only if she has a chance. And I don't lose on purpose unless she's getting real frustrated. That's why games with auto-handicapping like Smash or adjustable health sliders like Soul Calibur really work for us.

Lets not get carried away, Harvest Moon does not look "Next Gen" when compared to PS3 and 360 but it is an example of what devs can do on the Wii using great Artists.

It looks simply awesome in these pics and should age well. :)

Okay, but let's just move on from this topic. There's a lot more to games than just graphics, and some people are never going to enjoy Wii if they just don't get over it.

Compared to what 3rd parties have been doing on the wii for the most part, I'd say we have a right to be a little giddy about it. :)

Ive said it before, but this cel shaded toon artstyle is EXACTLY what I wanted to see. the fact that its so prevalent in Wii games, and that art style is becoming very important, is making me very happy.

Well so far I have only owned Nintendo consoles, and unless I get some major cash for an HDTV like I hoped, I will not buy these "Next Gen" systems.

I just don't like Nintendo fans going WOW at everything that looks decent on Wii like it should not be the case, I don't think the Wii is underpowered I just think devs are lazy on Wii because they can always blame it on the hardware.

I agree we should move on... lets leave Panther to his work.

thanks for posting new stuff PL!

It is only the begin. I think we'll see some nice stuff in the next couple weeks. Just keep an eye on this thread and don't hesitate to send me tips if I haven't seen 'em yet.

the map looks huge since the last Harvest Moon I've played on the N64
I may pick this up if the romance and finding a wife thing is still part of the gameplay

This Harvest Moon should get its own thread, since I would like to ask some questions about it. Like how the hell am I going to keep track of all those animals and still do all these other stuff?

You always find a way to, my friend. :)

So...is NiGHTS under water or something? I guess I know jack shit about the game. I always thought it was like Sonic in the air. Am I totally off the mark?

Never played the original but I think it's just here, there, and everywhere. You're in a dream, and NiGHTS isn't really affected by water (or apparently gravity).

This is the one that got me. But then again, GAF knows I'm a sucker for bright beautiful colors.

You are Flying in a Dream, so this one dream has an underwater stage but its not really underwater or the sky... its just focused on dreams. So the stages should look like you are flying inside someone's head. Which I guess in this case it works

These pics look much more vivid than the last ones

I can understand that (I hate how hardcore = all games, genres, systems and all your money). But specificallly for Harvest Moon, I can look at the style and say it's good looking. That's all that will really matter about the game. For me, it's more about polish than technical beauty (which is why many old games still look good). I could probably enjoy something like FFXIII almost as much with weaker visuals. Likewise, some games are only fun to play because they look better than their predecessors.

I just think that, like interest in the industry, strong focus on technical beauty kills a lot of the fun. It's just another way to take entertainment too seriously. I actually believe it's natural for people to gravitate toward beauty, but Wii and DS are kind of showing how important a good balance is.

I understand your point Pokeylongo.

I think this thread shows a great range of developer talent. Some games look god awful, while others really look great. I think PantherLotus they can only look better in the coming months. The more great looking games the Wii gets the less excuses the lazy devs will have for ugly port-a-crap.

Just a question:

Do you guys reckon Panther should make a new thread? I just think this one is starting to become a bit cluttered and difficult to manouevere around.

Just an idea though, it doesn't have to come to fruition.

I wish they'd turn up the saturation in Harvest Moon. It's not really the type of game to have dull faded colours.
