This does not make any sense or answer any of the detailed questions I have. Thanks Nintendo. :\
I guess I won't be able to trade in my Wii for a Wii U then.
I guess I won't be able to trade in my Wii for a Wii U then.
Confirmed? Because I've heard both.Correct and correct.
Two questions:
Do Wii game saves get removed from your Wii during the transfer?
If I back them up to SD card before running the transfer, can I copy them back onto the Wii?
Did the saves get erased from the Wii?Yes all game saves: Wii disc, Wiiware, and VC save data gets carried over.
Do I need to download a software update to do this transfer on the Wii?
Will that affect my Homebrew stuff? I haven't updated it in a long time.
Is it intact on the Wii then?EDIT: My message board was not transferred.
Is it intact on the Wii then?
I needed to download an update when I went to the shop. I haven't been online with my Wii for about a year.
Wait, I have lots of WiiWare/VC downloads and there's no way I can fit them all on the Wii System Memory. I presume that stuff originally saved on the SD Card transfer as a Wii Shop license?
Awesome, thanks.Yes it is.
Crap, what do I do. While watching the Pikmin run around on the Wii, this popped up:
"An error occurred while accessing Wii system memory. Refer to Wii Operations Manual for details". Do I just restart the Wii.
EDIT: Nevermind...I guess it quickly recovers to the point it died. I guess my Contra Rebirth save data is corrupted or something because it keeps stopping at "Con...".
EDIT 2: Damn everytime it gets to 70% is just stops and says an error occurred. My Wii hasnt given me any problems since launch until now...
I just reformatted my Wii after moving all the saves I could to an SD card manually. Transfer worked just fine after that, and my Wii shop download list was 100% intact. Downside? I lost my Mario Kart Wii, Brawl, and Colors saves, as well as the fact I have to run each game once before moving its save data from the SD card manually.
Oh well, at least I recovered a good percent of my stuff.
Ugh...I suppose I'll have to do that, too. There aren't many saves that I care too much about...
Metroid Prime Trilogy, SMG1 & 2, DKCR, Zelda's...
Blah.
(EDIT)
Will the Wii U read my SD if it has all of my saves and stuff on it?
Ok so I successfully did the system transfer last night, I had a bunch of VC content on both the Wii system memory and my SD card. Now that it's moved over, none of the games on the SD card will launch and I was only able to copy over Cave story from the SD card to the system memory before it said I'm all out of Wii blocks and to free up space?? So I can't launch content from the SD card and basically the fridge is back?! Please tell me I'm wrong and I'm overlooking something obvious.
I think you have to download new copies of the games to the SD card on the Wii U. You can't use your old copies of the games.
I could be wrong though!![]()
Nope. One of the games on my SD card was Bubble Bobble Plus. I just now deleted it from the card through system management then redownloaded it from the shop back into the SD card and it still won't launch, it just takes me to a screen asking me to do data management. Not good.
Awww.
I've still got another 12+ hours before my console is delivered. I wish I had it so I could help you figure out what to do! Hopefully someone else knows the solution, or you manage to stumble across the answer in the meantime.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii wasn't designed to handle more than 512 MB of onboard memory, period. Notice how they should've been able to upgrade it in future releases but never bothered to do so?Does anybody know exactly why the Wii Mode doesn't just use the overall memory? Why is it basically limited to what the Wii was limited to?
Aside from LostWinds, has anyone encountered any other content that won't transfer?
Lost Winds license and my Mario Kart Wii Channel didn't transfer. Other than that, everything else was okay.
