The problem is if PS4 has 4GB of Ram and the 720 has 6GB of Ram at the least and GPU's around the 1.5 teraFLOP region then the Wii U might not be able to run the engines for the big triple A next gen games.

The new engines for games like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Call of Duty ect will be built with the PS4 / 720 specs in mind.

We have already heard that Epic have no plans to use UE4 on Wii U, that says it all imo about the power of the system, i will also not even view the Wii U as a proper 'next gen' console until it shows us something that blows current games away, sure the nice lighting in ZombiU is nice and the water effects in Pikmin 3 are pretty but it really is not a generational leap.

It doesnt really matter about power. I bet the Wii U will be able to run all engines just on lower settings. Epic said that THEY are not planning on putting UE4 on the Wii U but if another developer wants to they can. So, the Wii U can run UE4, just maybe not for a while. Latest Cryengine is on the Wii U as well. So I dont see the engines or the power of the Wii U being a problem. Just closed minded individuals and Devs.

If Wii U gets a custom WWE game similar to WWF No Mercy....my god.

A bit too much to ask for but would be nice.

Bah, I declare that any custom WWE game will be crap unless it's Day of Reckoning 3. Problem with going back to what is now the "classic era" is that there's too much pressure to bring old names and dramatically change the gameplay while nobody's looking.

That's one of the reasons why I keep hoping that they come along with a new TimeSplitters instead of, say, revisiting Wolfenstein 3D.

Oh, they did already? And it was how different? Wow.

Im sure all next gen engines would be capable of running on Wii U scaled down but it again puts another step / excuse for third party developers to give when giving reasons for no Nintendo version.

I actually think third parties will continue to release a lot of games for the PS360 until well into 2015 even if PS4 / 720 are released in early 2014, the Wii U will be able to get ports of those games easily.

Still don't understand why there is no Crysis 3 for Wii U, yet they are making Homefront 2 for it..., if ever there was a current generation game to really show the power difference between PS360 and Wii U it would be Crysis 3.

Touchscreen suite controls mmm ;).

WcW vs NWO Revenge / WWF Wrestlemania 2000 / WWF No Mercy Triple Pack HD Collection exclusive for Wii U ? ! :).

Nice for the NBA fans !, don't EA make NBA games anymore ?.

We will hopefully finally get confirmation of Fifa and Madden 13 on Thursday then (maybe even MoH 2 aswell), if they are not announced then i would not expect them this year.

Damn you Japan and your early 3DSXL releases! I'm jealous. I demand mine early nintendo!

I'm looking to get into the tales series. I'm eyeing Tales of Graces f for the PS3 and Tales of the Abyss for 3DS. Anybody played them before?
Never played Graces but I've got 10+ hours into Abyss. I don't think it holds a candle to Symphonia, that is unless the second act just blows me away... oh, and don't bother turning the 3D on. Otherwise its a decent game. Then again, I did like SymphoniaDoaNW...

Bg, is that article suggesting they are building one machine or just making their machines very similar? I wonder how that would affect Nintendo? Seems strange that Sony would do something like that given their propensity to make high end tech. They'd lose their main marketing bullet point.

I saw you post in that thread so I'm sure you know what's going on.

Can you summarize or quote please?

I could actually see this, in some minor context. I don't see MS buying Sony or anything similar. I could see MS and Sony in talks with some 3rd Parties to make sure they are both similar and to make it easier on the 3rd Parties.

Would you like to elaborate on what parts you are able to back up, or what makes sense based on your contacts/information?

Awhile back a poster named sweetvar26 made some posts saying that both MS and Sony were using Jaguar (CPU) cores in their next consoles and the codenames for the chips were Kryptos and Thebe (Forbes article said it's Thebes) respectively. The mentioning of MS came not too long after I had heard they switched to AMD for their CPU. Also although recently posted on GAF, this post on the EVGA board came out a few weeks ago saying MS and Sony would be using the same SoC. Then there was the article about MS and Sony working together in some fashion as the author was unable to determine exactly what the info he received meant. A poster on IGN posed the idea that the MS/Sony article didn't deal with them making one console together, but may deal with standardizing their hardware for their next consoles. That lead me back to thinking about the EVGA post. Going back to the codenames, while I had looked up both Thebe and Thebes (the latter being a city in Egypt and Greece), jeff_rigby said this:

Kryptos, the sculpture at CIA Langly is the Howard Carter account of the King Tut discovery in Thebe's Egypt.

Of which I pointed out that the Forbes article spelled it Thebes with an "s" which is how Thebes, Egypt is spelled. Also as I mentioned Thebes is a city in Greece and Kryptos supposedly means "hidden" in Greek.

So connecting those dots was speculation on our part. But if Kryptos and Thebes are their codenames, it's rather hard to see it as just a coincidence.

They just recently started back with live 13 but I seriously think it will get canned again as we only saw one small clip of it at E3 and looks exactly the same as janky as nba live 10. If they dont can it they will just be releasing a shitty basketball game.

For NBA fans seems like NBA 2K13 will be on WiiU this holiday.

http://www.operationsports.com/news...no-mention-of-vita-or-any-other-sports-games/

guess you can scratch that off the list as a launch..or was it already there? I forget..

I'm gonna wait and see if it has all of the modes/etc. from the 360/PS3 versions, but I may get it. I know this is 2k and not EA, but I still feel burned by NCAA 07's complete lack of modes on the 360 because of the generational change, and I think I got it for $5. I definitely don't want to spend $60 or something on something worse 2k12 (I own it).

I don't know. Ask Amazon. That's what's happening.

No. No. No. No. No.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Best Buy and Target relisted them. Amazon gets them on and off and they sell like hotcakes.

It should be just a straight port I dont see why it wouldnt.

Just some general comments:

* Zombi U Pack In - I... doubt it. A third party pack in? A mature game pack in on a Nintendo console? It just seems unlikely, although I do like the idea. NintendoLand packed in with white Wii U's, Zombi U packed in with black Wii U's.

* After all, as long as Zombi U doesn't suck, Nintendo should really be thanking Ubi for filling a much needed hole in the launch line up. It's likely to be the most impressive looking game, it uses the touch screen in meaningful ways (instead of seeming tacked on), and it's an exclusive FPS.

* Nintendo has already been showcasing the title rather aggressively which is nice to see. On Jimmy Fallon, Reggie showed NintendoLand and Zombi U, instead of whipping out the expected NSMB. Another example are those events that also feature the game. It's nice to see Nintendo treating the game as important and hopefully they'll continue to help market it.

* Again, as long as Zombi U doesn't turn into another Red Steel quality wise, which I doubt.

* "Nintendo Seal Of Quality" - Yep, as pointed out, all that really meant is the game wouldn't break your system. But cream often rises to the top, even if it's less so for 3rd parties. Sounds like they're trying with MiiVerse. They could use that home screen to showcase worthy titles. And it's just kind of too bad that on 3DS, everyone seems to rate games 4 or 5 stars. But at least you can kind of tell what's popular with the amount of ratings and how they present the content. This will further help when retail titles can be downloaded.

* NBA 2K13 - We already knew this existed, and "holiday 2012" doesn't necessarily mean it's not a launch title. November (expected U release) is technically "holiday." Assuming EA has Madden at launch too, that's two pretty important sports titles, which should help things out. Wish the U had a quality racer at launch though :-/

It's also ironic since it's also about zombies.

Main Tales games are called Mothership titles. The rest are called Escort titles or spinoff titles.

We got Symphonia for the Gamecube and Graces (lol) for the Wii. 2 Mothership titles for consoles. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is considered an escort title.
The DS got two with Innocence and Hearts. These two never saw release outside Japan.

Incidentally, Symphonia is my first Tales game and also my favorite of the series. I think it's also the highest selling Tales game.

A poster on IGN posed the idea that the MS/Sony article didn't deal with them making one console together, but may deal with standardizing their hardware for their next consoles.

But wouldn't that favor whoever was leading the previous generation? If your hardware doesn't stand out and your first party is not Nintendo-strong in sales (Sony has breadth, but not much depth; Microsoft has depth, but not much breadth), then whoever was ahead last gen would tend to get the nod in the next gen. Seems like Sony surrendering, if that's the case? Seems unlikely, since it's supposed to be one of their profitable divisions going forward.

Hmm, I've got quite the backlog to enjoy then. I'm craving some JRPG action. Tales of Vesperia isn't out on PS3 though, and Tale of Xillia isn't out on PS3 until 2013.

Tales of Graces f for PS3
Tales of Xillia for PS3
Tales of the Abyss for 3DS

EA says they are keeping a very close eye on the wii u and will have more to announce for the system in the future

http://nintendoeverything.com/95291/ea-keeping-a-very-close-eye-on-wii-u-says-you-should-%E2%80%9Cnever-underestimate-nintendo/

This is such a non-statement statement. How about just making / announcing games?

As a poster mentioned above, would love to see Overstrike (new IP - hurray) on Wii U - even though we really don't know anything about it.

I really want to play Vesperia but since there's no chance of the PS3 version coming here, I'll have to make do with the 360 version.
I don't have a 360 ;_;

Just... keep an open mind with Abyss when it comes to the characters.
Graces F is a good game but dang, I think I'm in the minority with me thinking the battle system sucks.

Dammit, why did I trade in my 360 to get my Vita for $32. An investment I regret seeing as how I barely touch it and will mostly use it for PSOne classics I missed out on growing up like FF7, 8, 9, Xenogears.

How about announcing your biggest series for the platform if you should never underestimate Nintendo EA? Where is Dead Space or Battlefield? Why do I get their feeling their idea of great franchises coming to Wii U is Madden and FIFA

Yeah, I guess it's not like they have to make a new engine like the Xbox->360 generational leap. I'm still gonna wait on more details though. :p

EA Sports may be worth being concerned about based on their past, even if they aren't using a new engine either...

Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 were the last great FF games imo, throw in the original three Resident Evil games and the original MGS and it's well worth owning a Vita just for those retro games made portable with proper analogue controls.

I will prob pick a Vita up when the PS1 support is added, will be great playing through those games again on the small, high quality screen.

Because they're the easiest to sell and all they have to do is be there on store shelves. EA is playing it super-safe with the wii u by putting all their old stuff on it and their sports titles.

Good point, I overlooked that. Hmm, might be possible then, since that example certainly is both mature and third party. And like you said, even about zombies, haha. But if true, certainly it wouldn't be the only pack-in option. They'll want a family friendly sku at launch as well. I do like the Nintendoland = White, Zombi U = Black idea.

We are creeping up to launch though and Nintendo better let their cats out of their bags soon. If they're worried about the competition copying them, they would have been wise to NOT show the controller over a year ago at last e3. Especially since that was THE gimmick and now Microsoft has reacted with SmartGlass or whatever it's called. As for hiding the power - good or bad - c'mon. It's doubtful that they're gonna say "surprise, this thing is a beast!" so just level with us, Nintendo!

After all, it's very fair to assume that even bigger Nintendo fans are on the fence about getting one at launch or aren't really considering doing so at this point. Info will help, especially to those who need to save up for major purchases, as opposed to buying it on a whim.

I'm still planning on getting it, as long as they aren't stupid. $299 with a pack in is what I'm expecting and $349 with a pack in is my limit. $349 or higher without a pack in and I'd probably back off purchasing right away.

EDIT: Just another random thought. I suppose we're expecting games to be $60? Wii games were $50. What I'd like to see are maybe games that could be shipped on a normal DVD at $50 and anything taking advantage of the larger format at $60 -- but since PS360 introduced the $60 standard I doubt it.

Positive news from Indy developer.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/07/interview_tomorrow_corporation_little_inferno

“If the Wii U is half as unique as the Wii we'll see a number of independent developers flocking to Nintendo," said Kyle Gray in an interview with Nintendo Life, "A lot of gamers continue to give them flack, but they've been pushing gaming in new directions. On the business side, Nintendo of America has been an amazing partner to work with; they're supportive without burying you under mountains of paperwork.”

Very happy with this, it seems like Nintendo might just have amazing indy support :).

If they are 50 the WiiU version of multiplat games could probably sell really well. People might start prefering the cheaper version.

I have to agree that consoles being nearly identical is not a good thing for us gamers, or the industry. I'm also not sure it would be an easy sell for Sony for a lot of the reasons you mention, but I'm sure the big 3rd parties are really putting the pressure on them to do this.

Wass Nintendo ever approached regarding this, I wonder? I definitely couldn't see the other 2 companies wanting Nintendo to be a part of this. If all 3 have the same HW and receive the same exact 3rd party support, almost all gamers would go with Nintendo. Even if they were approached, I don't see Nintendo agreeing to this though. It cuts out their ability to push gaming in the directions they want through the use of HW not to mention the fact that they would be forced to sell the HW at whatever the others sell at (regardless if they HAD too)...

Very interesting nonetheless and I can definitely see meetings, at the very least, where 3rd parties at least try to sell MS and Sony on using the same HW.

I don't know, consoles being on par with eachother didn't hurt the SNES and Genesis back in the 90's. It basically came down to the exclusives.

What is this I hear? Bundle rumors?

White with NintendoLand and Black with ZombiU... is this correct?

Considering I prefer the White color and I'd only get NintendoLand if it was packed in while I would buy ZombiU separate, I'd probably go for the White + NintendoLand one.

Hope the rumors are true! If just for me...

If the only reason the publishers want the consoles to be similar in power in the first place is so that they would have an easy time porting their games between the two platforms i doubt we will see that many western third party AAA exclusives

EA Summer Showcase

http://www.ea.com/1/summer-showcase

Guessing we will see Wii U EA stuff on Thursday.

Edit: Thread worthy?.

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/m...2012/07/31/fixing-madden.aspx?PostPageIndex=2

Gameinformer flat out says Madden 13 coming to WiiU, they prob know something we dont and prob dont know that they shouldnt be telling us this lol.

"Madden NFL 13 comes out for Xbox 360 and PS3 on August 28. Versions of the game will also appear on the Wii and Vita (Aug. 28) as well as a Wii U version that may be different than the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions."

I know its obviously coming but this is the first time someone out and said it.

Fricken sweet. Glad to see these prominent western games hitting the Wii U, even if they were pretty much expected.
