Wii U eshop Games

Castlestorm seems fun ... but I wonder about the multiplayer, since Wii U typically gets gimped versions.
Seems 360 had both local and online multiplayer, I suppose this does as well, but if anyone has tried these, it'd be great to confirm.
Also, other platforms have DLC, was it announced for WiiU or maybe already included?

is it worth getting

Mighty Switch Force 2
Toki Tori 2+
Mutant Mudds Deluxe

at their current price points?
Toki Tori 2+ is a must have if you like puzzles at all. It's cheaper on steam, but personally I prefer to have off TV play when possible.

It has about 25-32 hours of high quality content, so well worth its price.

In the Eshop it says castlestorm has both local and online multiplayer...nothing about DLC though

Looking forward to more impressions! I plan to pick this up as soon as I can get back up on the eShop.

BTW, apparently Ducktales is 50% off right now--not sure if that's NA or PAL only...can anyone confirm?

I have to warn you though. Ducktales remastered is pretty big disappointment at least for me. :( The game interrupts your gaming for so often that it's not even funny anymore. The first half of Amazon level game interrupts you to listen uncle scrooge's talking SIX TIMES. It's really, really annoying.

You are so right! I appreciate the warning. I had heard there were excessive cutscenes. I don't really care for the voice acting so I've just been skipping all of them. There really should be an option just to turn them off though. Otherwise the game is pretty fun, playing it on hard mode.

For me too.

Paid $15 for it. It was a time there was nothing going on for the WiiU

I hate this game.

I wish i could sell my digital games. I would tag it with the lowest price possible, just so the one who get it wouldnt be as frustrated as i am with it.

I love the cutscenes and think they're fantastic, but there was a patch like two months ago that adds an option in the option menu that lets you skip almost all of them completely without even having to press the start button.

Got myself a $50 Eshop card due to the BB promotion. I am looking at buying Virtual Console games and Wii U exclusive Eshop titles that are also high quality. I bought Earthbound and Super Metroid, which I haven't touched the former in a decade and I have never played the latter. Any other things someone would recommend?

Would someone tell me about Mega Man X? I never touched the X franchise.

mega man x is a great game, arguably the best in the x series and i myself like it more than the original series. It has great, memorable bosses, nice stages, lots of secrets (especially powerup for your armor), perfect jnr mechanics (with the added slide) and I find it beatable :P (not easy, as none of the megaman games are, but certainly doable without feeling like you have no chance). And the stages change depending on who you've beaten before, it's a nice touch.

I think you can do no wrong with mega man x if you like megaman. It's a great SNES game.

I never played a Mega Man game, besides Legends, so I know nothing about 2D Megaman game. The difficulty was the scariest part, but you make it sound reasonable, so I'll pick it up.

I'm very glad to know this, gracias The Fish. I think I'll like it more this game. cacildo, what specifically did you hate about the game?

How long would it take to complete NES Remix and how interesting are the challenges? I have very little nostalgia for the NES (SNES-GAF represent) but the game itself looks really cool.

Basically, you have a choice of eight levels with their own boss and get a new weapon when you beat them.
X added a lot of gameplay features: there are refillable health tanks, health bar extensions, and upgrades for your basic abilities throughout the levels. It's also the only one in the X series where beating a level alters other levels and bosses. And it's more serious than the original series.

I'm not sure, my wife and I have played a few hours so far and still have a lot to do. The challenges start out pretty basic and get much more interesting and complex as they go on. It seems like to master all of the challenges in particular will take a lot of time.

I think I read that all WiiWare games are cross-compatible with the Wii U, so can you access the WiiWare games from the Wii U eShop as well? And can you use either points or eShop money?

Went ahead and bought it. Excited to finally try my first real Megaman game! Now I have to decide which game I want to play first: Super Metroid, Earthbound, or Megaman X.

WiiWare games are found on the Wii 1 store only. To get to then on the Wii U, there's an application on the grid of icons to launch the Wii Menu, which is used for backwards compatibility. Its picture says 'Wii'. It has the Wii 1 store in that.

The points in that and eShop money are entirely separate.

You can not use the gamepad as a controller, just as a screen (with a built-in sensor bar), in the Wii Menu so have a Wiimote.

I'd say Megaman X -> Super Metroid -> EarthBound. Mega Man games are usually very short, maybe an hour or so once you learn them, but if they click you'll be playing them over again. You get the most out of EarthBound when you're exploring everything and talking to everyone, so that should take you a good twenty hours.

Okay, thanks. Clunky, but expected. At least you can access the Wii online shop through the Wii U, even if it's through an application.

I really want to buy Nano Assault Neo, but I've spent so much for Xmas presents on my family and others I feel like I should give my wallet a break. :(

I think that patch was not released for Wii U... At least I can't find such an option. :/ The cutscenes are ok but when playing a platformer I don't want to see cutscene in every 20 seconds!

And other thing, there are not that many Beagle Boys. ._. You need to stay true to the original characters!

Thanks, bought it this morning.
Haven't tried multiplayer yet, there is a DLC option on the main screen which takes you to the eshop, but no DLC there ...yet.
Will play the game some more ... and if there is DLC eventually, will check that back then.

I can highly recommend Knytt Underground to everyone. Really nice little indie game with good platforming, puzzles and lots of secrets.

I bought Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition. Sat down to play it yesterday, and blasted through the main game in one sitting. Not that it's particularly long. But that game is a lot of fun -- I enjoyed the hell out of it. And while I wasn't a fan of the redone sprites in some of the screenshots, it looks fantastic in person. So, I can easily recommend that.

Currently, my eShop games list sits at:

Mighty Switch Force HD
Mighty Switch Force 2
NES Remix

Wouldn't mind getting some more stuff, but I think that's all that's really worth getting at this point.

I picked up the following last night.

Rush
Toki Tori 1 (already had 2+)
Little Inferno
Trine 2: Director's Cut

Trying to decide what else to pick up. Looking at the following at the moment.

Castlestorm
Earthbound (finally. I do have an SNES copy though.)
NES Remix
Mighty Switch Force 1 or 2.
Kyntt Underground

Still want to pick up some 3DS eShop stuff whenever it's up. That or I might try to track down some used or lower priced retail games.

Mighty Switch Force is rad, got under par times for everything including bonus levels on the 3ds and I bought the wii u version for the hyper levels. Gonna start playing 2 today.

NES Remix is really fun, I've been really pleased with it so far. I can also strongly recommend Bit.Trip Runner 2 and The Cave.

NES Remix, it has quite a lot of content.

Considering it's sale price, how's Star Wars Pinball? I tried the "free" Zen Pinball 2" app, but that was "meh" due to how little time you could actually play. I also find the tables to be very cluttered when compared with Pinball arcade on Android and Pinball Hall of fame Williams on Wii, which I both have.
I'm still on the fence with this one though. Siding with a no buy for now.
Does anyone know of a compelling review/argument/feature to make or break this deal?

New Wii U owner here, and I've been wondering...

Do full retail eShop games (like Wonderful 101 or 3D World) ever go on sale?

I only saw it once for first party and that was EU only for OoT3d but never again saw a 1st party phisical game on sale on the ehsop.

Well, i like the Zen Pinball tables a lot.

I got the star wars ones on sale and i think its great. Boba fett seems to be the worst of the 3, but its also the one i played for less time.

For 5$, i think you should give it a try. And add me for (future) high scores comparsion, my NNID is Brontossauro

Assuming you haven't played it on another system yet, Runner 2.

So is Wii Party U ever going to show up on the Eshop?

I'm a little annoyed that Nintendoland was dropped from the eShop after its price reduction. Wii Party U probably eventually will when it is no longer bundled with the remote at retail at a cheaper price. No one should d/l it at $50 when you can get a free $40 motion plus physically.

K, thx
I'll bet getting it tonight.

Bland enviroments, so clean its ugly, annoying music and cutscenes, boring gameplay

:( I've got it now (50% off sale) but it's definitely not at the top of my list. Will play it eventually though. Only played the intro level so far and it was just okay.

How important is the stand that's provided with that game? If playing them without it is dificult I can understand why they'd rather not put it up.
It's really not important at all. Haven't used it once yet. I think the game did show up in either PAL or NTSC eShop this month (can't bother to check at the moment was it PAL shop or not), so should arrive to the other one at some point too.

I liked Knytt Underground when I got it for Vita and PS3 (with cross-save) through PS+ over a year ago. :)

Without wanting to frustrate people who bought it for Wii U, it's $7.49 US on Steam (Windows, OS X, Linux) until the 3rd of January, and normally $9.99. If that's a good alternative platform for you...

Knytt Underground is awesome so far. Really recommend it. Currently near the end of game with 12 hours played so far. It involves a great deal of fun physics based puzzles and huge overworld.
