Wii U Games 2015

Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush got classified for Australia today. Usually, that would mean a release within the upcoming months (statistically speaking usually within 60-80 days) for PAL, but since Shibata clearly said a 2nd half 2015 release in the November Direct, I think we have to go on Nintendo's official info for this title.

well, they could easily dump this out in June. anything's possible.

Btw, the two downloadable Kirby spin offs were classified in September and just came out last week so there's a 6 month window at least. I don't think we should go by a 3-4 month window as a rule when there are so many deviations already.

June is so close to being in the second half of 2015 that it's possible that it got pushed forward a little bit.

Guess - Nicklas got the silly answer :-D

honest: It is out of our hands for now, submitted to Nintendo. In the most optimal scenario we will be able to announce a release date in about two weeks time. And the date would probably be 2-4 weeks after that.... (and this is the most optimistic estimate, if we get bounced by Nintendo we might be set back 1-2 weeks extra)

....soooo, I guess you can do the math, it will either be really late in Q1 or, more realistic just in the beginning of April.

Sorry :-D

I finally bought a Wii U! Looking forward to Zelda, Xenoblade X and Splatoon the most this year. I'll be picking up Smash Bros first, then maybe Pikmin 3, Bayo 1+2, W101, Super Mario 3D World, and I'll see if I have any money left by the end of that.

The downloadable titles have never followed any predictable pattern (that I've spotted at least), but the retail releases have been fairly consistent. If anyone is interested, here are the spans between classification and release dates for the Australian retail Nintendo releases (I'm using that just because it's an easy database to search):

The "normal" pattern:
Nintendo Land - 86 days
New Super Mario Bros U - 71 days
Wonderful 101 - 59 days
Game & Wario - 60 days
Pikmin 3 - 53 days
Wind Waker HD - 66 days
Mario Kart 8 - 78 days
Hyrule Warriors - 75 days
Super Smash for Wii U - 52 days
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - 99 days (delayed post-Christmas for PAL only)
Mario Party 10 - 100 days (pre-Christmas classification)

The delays:
Tropical Freeze - 156 days (announced delay)
Bayonetta 2 - 152 days
Wii Party U - 136 days (announced delayed a few days after classification date)

Currently unknown release dates:
Devil's Third - (pre-Christmas classification, on December 05)
Yoshi's Woolly World - classified February 16
Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush - classified February 18

So June, July and August releases? As April is almost impossible now.

That's not the dates I get if I use similar math as for the previously released titles. And April would still be as impossible as announcing the release date for Mario Party 10 two months before release. Which they did. May can also contain more games than Splatoon.

I think we have to work in the pattern now the fact that it seems Nintendo switched from "we have to finish these games in time for this schedule" to "we have these game (almost) finished let's see how can we strategically split them during the year".

This new trend practically started with Bayonetta and especially NoE seem to be very fond of it (Captain Toad, Kirby etc).

My try at trying to make a banner using MSPaint and Smoker's images =P.

If anyone else is interested in Hipster Mother: The Game there was a great interview I found divulging some tasty information at PureNintendo.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about influence, and trying to capture something you saw in another game. I love Mother 1-3, so much… it keeps me up some days. And with all that time I spent thinking about Mother, I realized how I can’t make Mother 4. It was never my intention to make Y2K a mother game, obviously, but the more I told people it was inspired by that series, the more they started to expect it. I could do a cold approximation of what makes Mother-Mother, but it wouldn’t be authentic… so I’m doing my best to not think in those terms. Obviously the color pallet, the setting (90s), element of the music, are clearly inspired there, but the game is going to be it’s own thing.

Sure! So, I composed a battle theme (a melody), and I’m doing various arrangements of it, based on context. So, let’s say… 10 per dungeon, each matching the style of the dungeon. Whenever you encounter an enemy in the game you go into battle, music cues, but after
you’ve heard that track you’ll cycle through 10 more before you have to listen to a new one again. This happens for each dungeon.

In addition to standard magic/skill/melee attacks, there are also traps in battle. One example of a trap is: Upon getting hit with fire magic, swap position of party member with a stuffed Panda. So using this strategy against a fire monster MUCH stronger than you might be necessary if you are under leveled.

In addition to standard items you can equip, you can also bring world items you find in the dungeon into battle. If you’re carrying a ladder, or a box, or a bomb for a puzzle, and get ambushed by a group of enemies, you can use this to fight them off.

Some enemies might even require you to find a bomb or a giant sword that is very powerful, to be able to take them down, as you couldn’t possibly be strong enough to fight them at this point in the game.

Just a few snippets but the game sounds wonderful so far. Did anyone ever play Two Brothers? That game always looked awesome to me as well, but I'm waiting for it to come out on Wii U so I can enjoy it on a console.

EDIT: finally saw the trailer with sound and not on my cell phone.... hipster mother x 9... not for me, really

What are the Mario Party games like?
I have never played any of them before but was thinking about getting the new one, which seems decent fun with multiple players.

Recently got Super Mario 3D World, like it better than Galaxy series.

Probably b/c I am not forced to use those hideous nunchucks

Nunchuk >> Gamepad/Wii U Pro
#fact

BS, don't need the lame Jazzersize that Nunchucks put you through. That gimmick is dead and gone.

WiiU Pro = Best experience.

GamePad I am not a fan of either, I want to admire the goddamn graphics on screen and not be looking down half the time.

Just picked up a WiiU this past weekend. My 4 year old loves it so it will be hard for me to get a lot of game time. Controller configs on the damn thing are a struggle though. Some things gamepad only. Some need nunchuck action. But then some games are much better on pro.

Which Wii U games requires nunchuck? The only game I know of is Pikmin 3 when playing 2-player.
