Wii U Games 2015

People get real, Mario Maker is a Q1/Q2 game, not a Holiday release.

Fuck that stupid negativity and cynicism. Seriously tired of it.

edit: obviously not saying everything is all roses and butterflies but come on.

It blows my mind that Nintendo couldn't get REmake HD and Raviolations 2 on the Wii U. I guess I'll play them when I eventually get a PS4.

"Couldn't get" ... they're not running after every game begging on their knees. If a publisher doesn't want to bring it, then that's their business.

January - Nothing
February - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
March - New Nintendo 3DS / The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
April - Yoshi's Woolly World
May - Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
June - Mario Party 10
July - Splatoon / Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Wii U eShop
August - Nothing
September - Devil's Third
October - Mario Maker / maybe Xenoblade?
November - Star Fox / a surprise announcement at E3
December - Nothing

Why not base the list on facts instead? Devil's Third and Mario Party 10 have already been classified in Australia, and that usually happens 3 months before the release date. For only 2 Wii U titles, it has been longer (5 months) between classification and release.

Dude all you have to do is see who posted it and you can scroll on by.

I agree that Mario Maker is 1st half. I am not sure Nintendo has many surprises up their sleeves, and because of that I am not as confident that their lineup is going to be particularly dense.

Also this is a WiiU thread so I don't feel like we should discuss any 3ds games in relation to the WiiU. Even though they have an impact on U development they don't help the U's release schedule.

What I would love to see is a small 4 to 6 game remaster series of HD GC games or something similar combined with something else. All at the $39.99 or less range. That's wishful thinking though.

I will be happy with what we know though. Honestly I have too much to play as is.

Ugh stop it with these goddamn Wii U threads.... I'm waiting for refurb to come back in stock and you're all torturing me!!!! Seriously though this is beautiful

I am buying at least seven Wii U games in 2015:

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
The Legend of Zelda
Mario Maker
Splatoon
Star Fox
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Woolly World

And that's not even counting what they'll announce in the next six months. It's looking like an incredibly strong year for the system.

I'm getting to the point where I feel we need to do an Operation Rainfall movement for Fatal Frame. It's getting ridiculous.
I got severely disappointed with FFV. The story is nice, but the game is quite boring and got a lot of framerate problema, specially on the end, where you fight against lots of ghosts at the same time.

Beat the game once with the bad ending and never went back to get the best one since i was so tired of it. The Ayane missions are also a bad joke. In five minutes you end all of them unless you want to waste time on purpose.

It wasnt worth the 7000 yen i've paid for it. Should've went for kamen rider... :(

That looks great. I've only just bought a wiiu last week and already have 6 or 7 games. I've bought half that for my xb1.

Fast Racing Neo could be coming in 1H.

It's among my most anticipated Wii U games next year.

they've backed turds before. geist comes to mind.

That was a decade ago, though. Nintendo's standard for polish now is probably higher than it's ever been. Besides, it's not like they backed Devil's Third from the start, either -- the game was in development hell for a while and they likely knew what they were going into.

I also doubt a 1H release. Even tough they say the main game is completed, they historically work slowly. Personally, I look forward to Hex Heroes and Affordable Space Adventures at least as much as to Fast Racing NEO.

My hope is that nintendo sees that there is nothing they can do about the wii u situation except turn a profit and are instead doubling down on their next console and fixing all the issues that have plagued them since '96.

Unfortunately you will be waiting a long time for that, because a lot of us have been waiting since 96 for that to happen.

My hope is Nintendo releases as many great games as possible, in the shortest timeframe. Nintendo sticking to Wii U offers us the best chance to see that happen.

I think the worst case scenario for Mario Maker is that it initially comes out on the eShop in H1, then in December they release a retail version of the game, like they did with NES Remix. But the initial release is definitely happening in H1.

Oh, I didn't know you had inside info about the inner workings Nintendo. They shoild be doing whatever they can to make sure titles like these get released on the Wii U. Especially since the first Revalations game was on 3ds and the Wii U is lacking in mature titles. I know it's up to the publisher but I wish these games were available on the system and it speaks to how bad of an environment they've created for 3rd parties on their system.

This is no inside information, Iwata has stated many times in the past 14 years that this isn't how they do business. Their only plan to attract 3rd parties is to get a large enough install base to make passing their systems difficult. They don't seem to have a back up for when that fails. They don't do what Sony and MS do, and that is partially the problem.

They, as a rule, don't pay for non exusive games or content. Yes it does hurt them, honeslty I don't think they care.

I think this scenario is very unlikely for a number of reasons. Mario Maker seems to be a much more high-profile than an ordinary eShop game. They have Tezuka as the director, they showed Mario Maker at TGA, and Koji Kondo is working on the sound system with a new approach to how sound interacts in their games.

Tezuka is producer, not director. The people you see talking in interviews from the olden days are never directors. You rarely know those because they're always of the younger generation. Yosuke Oshino is directing Mario Maker (his debut in the director's chair).

Thanks for the info! BTW, do you know who the director is for Yoshi's Wooly World? Tezuka seems to be supervising that project, but is the director someone from Good-Feel?

Good Feel is making it, so someone from their team is directing. Could be Kentarou Sei, who directed Kirby's Epic Yarn and was a planner on Wario Land Shake It but they haven't name-dropped anyone in particular yet. I believe we'll have to wait for the first round of preview interviews. Tezuka is again involved as producer because Yoshi is his baby and Etsunobu Ebisu, who was in the E3 video with Tezuka, is founder and producer at Good Feel.

Is this the new "The Last Guardian"?

Why do people keep saying this?

The Last Guardian was shown like 6 years ago and had full trailer, SMTxFE was announced 2 years ago and didnt have anything shown off really.

There are still 2 games from that Jan direct not even out yet Xenoblade X and Yarn Yoshi, that game has a long way before it gets in Last Guardian territory

This. Just because some idiots make up shitty "lolcanceled, articleonigntomorrowlolol" rumors that turn out to be lies doesn't even get this close to TLG levels. They simply announced the game way too early before they actually started because Wii U was doing so poorly at the time. Case closed.

2015 is a big Fire Emblem year (25th anniversary) so at the very least we'll get a full-blown reveal.

I didn't pay close attention, but did the "watch dogs U definitely cancelled" and "smash 2015 confirmed" boosters ever eat their crow?

We all know the Wii U is "dead" in terms of the console war. I don't think anybody is still claiming otherwise at this point. Yet the doom/gloom circle jerks carry on unabated.

On topic, as "decent" as things are looking for 2015, they could really use a few more GameCube remasters to pad things out. I mean, if the six month dev time claim with WWHD was true.

Won't happen, but a full blown Mario 64 remaster I would inject straight into the bloodstream.

If you really want to compare TLG to FExSMT you will quickly notice that they are not the same at all. People are still in denial regarding the latter. With TLG I think it has been accepted for what it is.

For real I guess it's next year or never. I'm putting my money on next year.

No clue, the only actual eating of virtual crow I have witnessed was after the SM3DW October trailer. Aside from ...certain people of course who just fucking hate everything lol.

This is really the only screen/info we have on Starfox WiiU?

As much as i love starfox, it really dosent look too exciting...

This is clearly not representative of the final product in ANY shape or form. Which is why it's the only publicity picture available. It's entirely a proof of concept.

We do know it'll play like Metroid Blast, we know the missions will be structured like TV-episodes, we know that Project Guard / Project Giant Robot might be somewhat related or even end up as part of Star Fox.

that´s news to me. Good to have a little bit more of info

I was hoping for some sort of mock up of what the "third person on tv, cockpit on the gamepad" would look like.
But judging by this picture... it seems less exciting than what i imagined...

There's just no way I can come remotely close to getting every game I want (between the three consoles) in 2015.

Lots of great stuff hitting the U this year, and Splatoon has managed to catch my eye as of late.

I've been around here long enough to have read almost every Iwata article that has ever been posted here. Despite what he says they aren't just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring to see if the next Dragon Quest game is coming to their system. I'm fairly sure that increasing their install base isn't their only strategy. I didn't mention in my post that they should pay to get games on their system. There are other deals and publishing and localization scenarios that can get games on their systems. Ì just wish more 3rd party stuff was on it's way.

Are we ever going to get a trailer for FAST? They've teased that they were releasing it soon but as far as I know they've only released a couple screens. It's not vaporware is it?

It's going to have Metroid Blast flight controls? HELL YEAH. Star Fox has just shot up my most wanted list.

Every game? How about ANY game?! And considering their history with Capcom and the franchise (RE4, Remake, Zero and Revelations 1), this would be a good place to start. Seems like an important franchise to them.

I'm not sure Mario Maker will be Q1/Q2, though I'd love it to be. Mario Party, Yoshi, and Kirby all really don't float my boat. But that's a lot of Mario / platformers at once. Hopefully at least by July or August though. This could be a huge game if they get the level sharing and physics right.

Splatoon, Star Fox, Zelda, X, and SMT x Fire Emblem for me day 1.

Devils Third probably when it gets cheaper. Just doesn't look like a 60 dollar game. Would love the masses and critics to prove me wrong though.

Lol what makes people think Mario maker isnt going to malke its spring release

I just hope that after January, Wii u does get a game every single.month

Even though I only plan on getting Zelda xenoblade and splatoon ...and maybe if devils third gets great reviews

ding ding ding, we have a winner. It's astonishing how much people seem to forget or probably even refuse to remember. I mean, up until recently I've still seen the umpteenth myth about ,,one WiiU game per month next year!'' going around and look where that went (once again), lol. Wii U was a drought machine for 2 years and it always will be. Maybe it's not as horrid as this year, in which some delayed 2D game had to cover up a drought from january to the end of may, but it's certainly not looking good. Europe already doesn't get Kirby february and you can consider yourself lucky if the supposed Q2 release date of Splatoon barely means a delay until summer, instead of fall. But you can bet, when Mario Maker is delayed to become the holiday title instead of Zelda, there's still gonna be a defence brigade and some displacing narrative about an alleged amazing 2016 for WiiU will be worked on immediately (even though that will be the year of Nintendo's next hardware grabbing most remaining WiiU titles).
Or maybe Zelda does come out. After they could barely get a hang of HD development and their only other title of this size has already been delayed a year (even though up until a day before E3 they've still talked about a 2014 Xeno release, lol). Sure.

Wow, there is skepticism, but this is too far, no matter what they could release, its obvious Nintendo is not capable of supporting the Wii U and 3DS, in fact there is no company that can, look at Vita, No company could do 12 Wii U games a year, especially if you want hardcore titles.

But im sure they can do better than Mario Maker..

It baffles me that people really believe Zelda will come out this year.

Why not base the list on facts instead? Devil's Third and Mario Party 10 have already been classified in Australia, and that usually happens 3 months before the release date. For only 2 Wii U titles, it has been longer (5 months) between classification and release.

So your going to post on here that Nintendo is going to release MP10 in less than 3 months even though no date has ever been mentioned and your argument is based on fact?

Nintendo have been known to delay things, but I dunno. I don't see them backing out of their 2015 release date this time.

Here's how I view it, the only things they have said is that 2015 and after StarFox. Miyamoto said when he showed StarFox off the game is just at proof of concept at that point. So I find it very hard to believe that StarFox is that close. Also neither game have been titled or given a date and they are going to have to do both by E3 for both games for this 2015 to happen.

At last year's E3, Miyamoto stated that Star Fox had entered full development some time before E3:
"The game started off as an experiment, and what we're showing you here is still fairly early on. But the game has already moved into full development, and we're planning on completing the game within a year. The way that I design games, I start by experimenting with a lot of different assets and play styles. And then, once we have all that laid out and understood, then we go into full development and begin building the graphics around them."

He basically wanted to publicly announce Star Fox at E3 early on because he wanted to show us the asymmetric control scheme for the title, which was one of the goals Nintendo wanted to do at E3 in order to try to make more use of the GamePad's capabilities in future released titles. Also, it was a way for Nintendo to finally shut up Nintendo fans for begging the company for years to bring back Star Fox. Miyamoto's estimated short development time for the project, is also due to Nintendo seeking to co-develop the game with an unrevealed third party developer (apparently they were fishing for a potential development partner at E3), but Miyamoto said he'll still have direct involvement on the project as a supervisor.
