Wii U Games 2015

BS, don't need the lame Jazzersize that Nunchucks put you through. That gimmick is dead and gone.

what.

the nunchuk stuff was fucking comfortable. i really liked having my hands wherever i damn well pleased instead of forced together. we have noticeably regressed

Looks like Headstrong Games has another Wii U game in the works. They are currently working on the full version of Art Academy for Wii U

http://www.gonintendo.com/s/247936-h...ced-wii-u-game

I hope it's Battalion Wars 3.

I hope so, too. Looking at their release history, it seems they probably have at least one team that has been working on a project since 2012. Battalion Wars has so much potential on Wii U, and I've been hoping for its release since the GamePad was first shown. I would be so happy if this were to happen. Please, Iwata. Please.

Even after having the Wii U for a long time, I'm still no fan of the GamePad. I don't understand those people who kept telling me I would only understand it when I used one and that I would use it for internet use etc. Good for them.

But I rather not touch the GamePad and use the Pro controller instead. Though I'm not too crazy about that one either.

Bring back the Wiimote and nunchuck. Upgraded for the next console. Or just a normal sized standard controller.

It's crazy I'm not even playing it for a while. Haven't touched it this year. And I have a lot of untouched and almost not played games like Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, NSMBU, Super Mario 3D World, Monster Hunter etc.

I did just buy a New Nintendo 3DS with Monster Hunter 4 though. And I do love Nintendo. Never grew up with them but have come to really love their output since the GameCube/Wii and Nintendo DS.

What????? Those games are all incredible!! (Well except MH... that one's not my cup of tea personally.) Sure, people often say "you have to own it then you'll understand" but that may not work if you let all the games just sit there! Never been a more appropriate use for this gif, haha:

I have played Mario Kart 8, NSMW, 3D World, Rayman Legends, Tekken Tag 2 etc. and not had a want or need to play with the GamePad. I rather use my Pro controller.

I think all of those games can be incredible too, but I have been more in a movie mood, than games mood the last couple of months, which probably explains it.

So practically you ignored the best 4 games (maybe 4 out of top 5 if you include Lego City Undecover) of the console.

And Pikmin 3 is godly with the wiimote, exactly what you ask for.

Yeah I know. I'm not complaining about anything.

I see I had written:

Ah, now all make sense. I like the Gamepad a lot, I find it very convenient, but I perfectly understand why one could not like it.

Need gaf advice: My platformer itch has surfaced this past week or so, and as I have already played DK:TF, 3D World, Rayman Legends, and Captain Toad (well, it's kind of a platformer), I was thinking about grabbing New Super Mario Bros U.

I remember playing New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS last year and really not enjoying it, mainly to it having no new interesting ideas, no inventive level design, etc. I know that these games are supposed to be throwbacks, but I was expecting a bit more.

I'm obviously not expecting it to be revolutionary, but is the level design at least a little inventive/original in New Super Mario Bros U?

New Super Mario Bros U, and especially New Super Luigi U, are way better than the lackluster NSMB2.

Yep, I find it the best in the new mario bros series + Tanooki suit goodness.

Go for it

So I just got done interviewing the head of Straight Right and Tantalus Games and he has confirmed they are working on AAA WII U Game port, biggest project yet in his words. Also, they are apparently porting a WIi U game to the PS4, Xbox One and PC which is also notable. More information is coming later on in the year.

Are the two games the same? So their AAA Wii U game is also coming to the other consoles? Or are those two different projects?

I would assume the latter is Deus Ex or ME3, hell, haven't Mass Effect Trilogy or something been long rumored for PS4 and Xbox One?

Kingdom Hearts 3?!

Also I'm guessing Mass Effect too. Deus Ex is already everywhere and I don't know that they'd port the Wii U version. Maybe they're porting something else. Who knows.

Just so long as they aren't betraying us on Funky Barn exclusivity, because I will scream bloody murder

It is improbable that they are the same game since these are both ports. Beyond that not much information was garnered, though something could be announced at GDC.

Oh yes, reviewing the audio, this game, this Wii U game is the biggest they have ever done and it is coming this year.

What could they be?
Maybe Lego City and the new Batman game?

That is the fun isn't it. Tom knew what he was doing, tip the hand enough to allow for the rampant speculation to run rampant.

I hope its something that isnt announced yet

Because of all AAA games announced for the other consoles, theres nothing i really want

Brand new Wii owner here. Primarily a PS4 user.

Haven't owned a Nintendo console nor have I played one since the Nintendo 64 when I was about 7-9 (it was so long ago).

Being 23 years old and having the sudden urge to reminisce about Zelda hit me super hard over the past weekend, so I impulse bought one at Best Buy an hour before they closed.

I'm fucking love it. I feel I should be ashamed for being old and enjoying Super Mario 3D, but right now I'm at a point in my life where I just don't care lol. I'm stomping the shit out of these goombas.

Wind Waker is awesome (again, I never played it because I only played OoT and MM on 64) and God it feels good to play a SSB game again.

And a good friend of mine is surprisingly good at Mario Kart. I usually hold my own in video games, but she is just a monster with Peach. It's kinda hot losing to a chick who's actually better than you at a game...lol. I'm loving my Nintendo. No regrets picking this up.

Pikmin is next.

I hope the Wii U port is coming from the PS360 generation of games. Elaborating, if there is a Mass Effect trilogy port happening for PS4/X1, I would be pleased with that coming to Wii U. What I'd be worried about is something designed originally for PS4/X1, like Arkham Knight, getting ported, since the game will inevitably end up being an inferior version that has a lot of compromises made. I could see the Wii U export being Deus Ex or a heavily reworked ZombiU. Lego City seems impossible, given it was published by Nintendo in most (maybe all) regions. I can't really think of any other 3rd party games that would be prime for a PS4/X1/PC port...unless it turns out they're behind the Darksiders 2 port and they're basing it off of the Wii U version?

for someone who has missed as much as you, here's what i would consider the essentials of what's available on the wii u (in no particular order):

xenoblade chronicles: a lengthy rpg for the wii (not wii u) that will last anywhere between 60 to 100 hours and longer. the wonderful thing about it is that those many hours are filled with new places to go and explore, with very little backtracking and even then it's extremely easy to do so (the game has a warp function). it's a real slick piece of work, from its music to its game systems, and all the things it does to try and let the player just have a good time powering up and being rad.

super mario galaxy 2: as good as super mario 3d world is, and it's quite excellent, there's nothing quite like the level design in super mario galaxy 2. i think it's 3d mario at its finest.

new super luigi u: if you aren't mariod out by this point, i highly recommend new super luigi u. a pack-on to new super mario bros u, new super luigi u was made available to purchase at retail separately. unlike other mario games, there are no checkpoints, and each level lasts 100 seconds. this means it's a mad dash to the end of each level, and an even madder one if you try getting every star coin (to unlock even more secret levels).

sin & punishment: star successor: this acted as this generation's star fox 64 (if the ps2 era's was rez or panzer dragoon orta). a marvelous on-rails shooter with an amazing soundtrack and surprising and cool changeups to the formula with each successive level.

the legend of zelda: twilight princess: the definitive version of the game is the wii version. with pointer controls and a much faster inventory selection, the pacing of the wii game is far superior to the gamecube version, with more satisfaction to boot. twilight princess lacks some of the charm of other zelda games, but makes up for it in its level design.

maybe gamecube games will make it someday. skies of arcadia, paper mario: the thousand-year door, and star wars rogue squadron ii are all stuck on the gamecube, unfortunately.

you need to get Bayonetta 2, Monster Hunter and ZombiU

and Donkey Kong TF is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any Mario game you can play on Wii U. Or any 2D Mario game ever for that matter :x

As much as me and a good chunk of Gaf loves ZombiU, the Ps4 crowd still think the game as a joke (and that happened because of the rushed reviews)

what kind of fanboy shit is this? 'the Ps4 crowd' ROFL

Ah, it is known that this port is for the new generation of consoles.

Well... it cant be zombiu

It could be Deus Ex, which was aready ported to the PS3. But porting the WiiU Deus Ex for the PS4 sounds very lame... it would only make sense if the ps4 release schedule was a complete desert. "You have zero games coming on to the PS4? Here´s Deus Ex. Yes, that same Deus Ex"

So it can only be Funky Barn

I've only heard good things about axe oblate. I'm gonna YouTube some gameplay right now. And I am still relatively new to the Wii U interface but I'm guessing all of these are available on the Nintendo store for digital download? If so I'd love to play the Zelda games I've missed out since MM, so I can prepare for the new one coming out. I'm sure I'll be in a platformer mood for some time now. And speaking of Sin & Punishment, isn't there supposed to be a new Star Fox game coming this year? Can't wait to see what that's about.

Ah I completely forgot about Donkey Kong. I'll have to add that to my list as well. Thank goodness for tax return season.

Of the games AniHawk listed, only SMG2 is available on the eShop. NSLU requires that you own NSMBU if you want the digital version; retail is standalone. Nintendo just started adding Wii games, and Sin and Punishment was announced for regions outside of North America, so it and other Wii games could be available worldwide in the near future. Star Fox is indeed coming this year.

super mario galaxy 2 is available to download, but the other wii games are not. the wii u is backwards compatible with them though, so if you can find physical copies, you'll be able to play them.

Maybe the Wii U game ported to PS4/Xbone is ZombiU. Or an indie game. Or that infamous unreleased Ubisoft exclusive game.

what kind of fanboy shit is this? 'the Ps4 crowd' ROFL

Sorry, let me correct myself:

replace "Ps4 crowd" for "People that didnt had the chance to play zombiu" (which is the Ps4/XboxOne crowd, since im talking about people interested in videogames)

(is "crowd" some sort of offensive word? Really asking)

Maybe, that is what everybody is trying to figure out.

paywall twins get zombi u, and wii u gets minecraft.

Ok, I'd love to see Zombi still alive. and it's the only exclusive game without anyu kind of Nintendo involvment left, I think (unlike Lego).
For Minecraft: I'm not a fan of user generated contents, honestly. I'd prefer CoD (only way I play classic fps games is Wiimote + nunchak)

While Zombi U is the obvious answer why would Ubisoft have an outside studio do the port with all of the various studios they have? I mean all the Assassin's Creeds and Watch Dog Wii U ports were done by one of their many international studios. Has Ubisoft in the last fee years contracted any version of a game outside it's studios.

Lego City is weird because Nintendo published that game and it also uses the Gamepad heavily. Also why would a Lego game be next-gen only?

There also mainly responsible for small titles and haven't work on PS4 and One at all.

The only thing I can think of is that the Wii U port is actually either Deus Ex or Mass Effect oddly enough.

Or better yet it's actually Funky Barn. I'm not joking. It was their IP and they could expand it to more platforms. In fact this is my guess.

The fact that their next Wii port is their biggest project yet makes the other mystery port seem lesser. What could they port that would be big on Wii U? I remember them saying their next Wii U port was more family-friendly. Could it actually be Minecraft?

Now now, DK TF is good, but it's certainly not the best platformer ever made, unlike Super Mario 3D World.
