Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Oh, one last question. I logged into my Wii to see what games I do and don't have and see that I'm sitting on 800 points. Will those transfer over also? Will I be able to spend those 800 points on WiiU stuff?

Looking around online and I can get the wii u basic + nintendoland + zombi U for £195. Am I really missing out on much by not getting the premium version. You can literally plug in any USB stick or external hard drive to expand the storage space right?

Iirc only the premium comes with a stand/cradle for your pad, right? Also a sensor bar and the shitty "discount" on digital.

Not really. Yeah you can plug in an external USB hard drive. Only thing you would miss should you do so is the digital promotion which nets you like 10% to use for every certain amount of money you spend on eShop.

Discount is the least shitty thing of the above. Cradle and stand take that place.

So with my VAT exemption and some haggling with the Amazon.co.uk rep I managed to get a Wii U Basic, pro controller, zombie u and monster hunter for just over 200 pounds. It seemed like a good deal at the time. Now to wait for it to arrive...

Since this is an all-purpose thread sort of, can someone tell me how to earn coins for ClubNintendo from my NintendoLand that came with my Deluxe Wii U? Registered the Wii U a week ago, but haven't seen a way to register the game; no code card was included. I haven't actually played NL yet on my Wii U, so maybe I need to do that for it to show up?

If you registered a Deluxe Wii U, then the Nintendoland survey should show up eventually. I remember mine didn't show up until a while later. You get the coins once you fill those surveys.

Make sure you download Zen Pinball 2 and Tank! Tank! Tank!. They're F2P, and give CN coins at no cost.

Ah thanks! And yeah, downloaded ZP2 and T!T!T! already for the extra coins. Between the Deluxe purchase and those 2 games, I believe you can achieve exactly 300 coins and reach Gold status easily.

Question guys, I'm debating on getting a Wii U and I've been seeing some deals on craigslist. I see a basic going for 200 and a deluxe going for 255. Both are new and haven't been used. I don't plan on downloading games besides VC, but I'm not sure how much space the basic truly has and if patches from games take that much. I'm wondering if the basic is a bad idea or not. Also want to say I'm not really interested in Nintendo Land.

Any idea which I should go for? I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but thought it would be good to ask people that really liked the Wii U.

Nobody was interested in Nintendoland until they played it. But paying an extra $55 for it might not be worth it unless you have people you can play it with. I doubt you would ever run out of hard drive space from just system updates or game saves on the basic model either.

But you never know what the future may hold in the download space, especially for Nintendo. You can always get external hard drives for fairly cheap. Take for instance the NSMBU game getting all those Luigi levels. Who knows how big that would be and it's possible they might have those kind of plans for other games as well. For instance maybe Mario Kart will end up getting almost a complete full new game's worth of maps added to it.

In the end, $55 isn't really that much more. You'll get an actually pretty dang fun game, and a big enough hard drive built in where you'll never have to worry about just system updates and some game updates.

Simply put, if you have friends who will come over and play with you, NintendoLand is more than worth it. This past weekend, my friends and I discovered Metroid Blast. Wow.

Whats the link to the deluxe promotion? (I forget it)

Yes, the will be trasfered too but you won't be able to use them on the eShop (Wii U)
They'll stay on the Wii side aka you can only use those 800 points to purchase games from the Wii Shop

Pretty odd they didn't covert those points into real currency/money and didn't work on a solution to transfer them from the Wii Shop to eShop.
I have 200 points lying around and well.. can't buy shit with 200 points and since they have been discontinued here and I don't plan to import, I gues they'll stay there forever.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go for the Deluxe. I'll definitely at least give Nintendo Land a try and 55 more isn't that much. The price he was asking was a tiny bit higher before I edited my post too.

Nintendo Land is just so so good... it should've been a pack-in across the board with one SKU and they should have marketed it as the game that will make grandma a hardcore gamer.

I'll say it again, it should have been the OS interface itself with regular updates.
So good!

I'd say Deluxe. Can't go wrong with black and the OS is already taking a LOT of space.
As for Nintendoland, it might surprise you. Even solo, I would have bought it for Metroid Blast and Pikmin adventure.

I'm not sure where to ask this question, so I hope here is OK.

I transferred all my games from my Wii to my Wii U. The only game that didn't transfer was Lostwinds. Last I heard back in December was that there was a fix in the works. Well, it's May now and I haven't heard anything new. I want to give my Wii to a friend but don't want to lose that game. Has anyone heard when to expect a fix?

There is no fix yet and might not ever be at this rate but I just installed the wad in vWii and it works perfectly fine so I wonder what the issue is. If you don't mind losing your save data I would just install the wad.

Anyone know if Tvii will be available in the uk? App is waste of space for me atm.

I love my wii u, most i'e been in love with gaming since ps2/gamecube era.

I just scored a basic unit off of eBay brand new for 206.50. I had no intention of getting one right yet; I actually decided to get one for my two year olds birthday in July, but that price was too good to pass up.

Prices on eBay are awesome right now. If you are on the fence, just go get one if you can't get it for next to nothing.

HI guys. I just purchased NFSMWU yesterday and i'm having a blast. On the other hand, my WiiU doesn't turn on when I booted from the gamepad, neither turns off...

Did this happened to any of you guys? Any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

How the hell is a 10% discount shitty?

Because most games drop $5-10 (if not more) at retail within a month and you can resell them for 50% of their value easily once you're done with it. Digital means you'll get 10% off, maybe more if they ever go on sale, and cannot sell back. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's shitty, just not stupendous.

You can connect a Wii U and a 3DS together to exchange Miis, so it's been built in since the start. No idea why it popped up here though.

You're right, I remember doing this when I got it at launch.

Very odd though.

An average $5 off every digital full priced game is decent in my book.

Damn, I'm more and more tempted to buy the system, but I can't just quite yet justify the purchase with that price point. However, if the price doesn't go down in like half a year, I'm going to bite. There's many games I really want to play, and with E3 coming, I'm sure there's going to be lots more. In the mean time, I can only read threads like these :)

It's not really 10% off. You pay full price for everything. The bonus comes from points earned from purchases, each to the equivalent of something like 10% of whatever the value is. When you reach a certain accumulation of points you get a $$$ voucher redeemable at the eStore for credit. Or something like that.

It's basically worthless, literally, unless you use the eStore a lot. And even then largely negated by retail deals.

Still, you get it back from digital download only titles, and from DLC so it's not all worthless

It sort of can amount to close to 10% off (again, if you use the eShop a lot). If I buy a $59.99 game, I get a code for $5. I use that $5 code on my next 59.99 game, which gives me ~10% off plus I STILL get another $5 code to use on the next purchase.

Or of course, I can let the codes accumulate.

That's much better than I was ever expecting.

EDIT: Plus you can use these codes in the 3DS eShop if you wish.

Your point is valid only to those gamers who only play a game a few times and hurry up and sell it to get money for a newer game. Retail sales and trades are perfect for this part of gaming. You can play a lot more games this way but seriously would be smarter to rent games because this is what you are really doing only using more cash. But rentals are not always available to everyone. It is a great thing for gamers to have and they get to play much more overtime.

10% is not a negative thing if you are not into retail.

I absolutely love the DDP service on Wii U Kung Fu Rabbit was perfectly priced and I had 1 ticket waiting for me to get this game. I am not getting the benefit of retail discounts but I am saving money and I never intended to sell my games because in a year or so I will have some old favorites to go back to.

I just wonder what DDP will become when the end date comes in 2014, I hope they extend it and keep it through the generation and add it to 3DS DD

I would say Digital Sales and Discounts are only limited by Retail Chain pressure. I can't see Nintendo giving much a discount for DD because this would anger retail giants. So no Doubt going retail means better deals but Digital is still very new and I really like having it as a choice. In a perfect little world $60 at retail would be $40 if you download it instead :( This is not something I am happy about or make me love retail for the sales they give because they are really the roadblock for any digital discount on day 1 of releases that and greed

DDP is great for me but I do hope Nintendo has a 50% off of First Party games of Xmas :)

I really am hoping it expands to the entire Wii U life, and goes across the 3DS. It's a great system

I hate that I don't get points for 3DS eShop purchases! :(

I still haven't downloaded enough on Wii U to earn my first $5 credit, but on 3DS I'd have gotten at least a couple by now.

I dropped the kids off at my aunts house and left the Wii U with them. My uncle asked me what it was, and I told him it was the new Nintendo system. He had a shocked look on his face and ask me how much it cost.

My little cousin interrupts and says, "Do NOT buy me that. I already have a Wii and can't play Halo on it"

Heh.

I worry because they made it a special thing you can only have in you brought a Premium Wii U

if it came with the Basic as well I would feel that they had future plans for it. Setting an end date means they can stop it or tern it into a Plus paid service. I hope they just keep it as it is. Really one of the better parts of owning a Wii U for me. It encourages me to buy more though lol

if something comes out on eShop and it is $14.99 my brain says they are asking too much for this indie game :( I check my DDP and have 1 $5 ticket waiting punch the code in. Now that $14.99 does not seem as bad in my head.

A really good idea for Wii U digital

You can tell him there will be other shooters on it. COD BLOPS2 is fun. I prestiged last night. First time I've done that since COD4 and I've played every COD since the Original on PC.

Third party eShop prices need to be more competitive.

I don't understand this. 3rd parties have done some good sales in the relatively short history of eShop. More so than Nintendo which has done exactly zero promotions outside of Famicom 30th anniversary VC games.
