Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Not open for further replies.
my Wara Wara plaza used to be populated with games just after launch, but since i didnt use my WiiU for a bit over christmas, its suddenly gone back to the empty nintendo one.

i'm still interneted because i can open miiverse and the eshop fine.. what is going on??

I'm still satisfied, and I find it a really endearing machine, perhaps the most since GameCube as far as a home console goes. DS Lite & Vita are just lovely as far as handhelds go.

I think the first quarter software line-up is a concern, yet I don't see a horrible degradation in quality over the last gen machines. Different demographics, certainly, but the PS3 in particular was horribly barren for the best part of a year. Nintendo has been very quiet with this launch, and whether that's because there really is very little on the cards or that they're going to drop some pretty tantalising stuff come October - December (including, possibly, the price) is remains to be seen. A couple of intriguing third party exclusives, Mario Kart, something from Retro, along with £50 here, $50 there and €60 over there would change the picture significantly.

So we'll see.

I was in Target today and the deal IS going on. To bad their isnt any other games i want for the Wii U right now, I have Mario, Sonic and Nintendoland, I was tempted though since its such a great deal, maybe ill try the Zombie U demo. if i didnt have my 360 i would do the deal but i have been playing the shit out of Forza Horizon and Black Ops 2 lately so i think buying more wii u games might be a waste right now, not enough gaming time

on a side note can anyone confirm how many of the Nintendoland games need a nunchuk? I havent played much of it yet but i want to do co op with my fiancee and daughter soon, I have 2 wii remotes, am i good getting 1 nunchuk or do i need 2 and should i get a 3rd wii remote or is 2 and the gamepad fine for most games?

Metroid Blast requires the WiiMote and nuchuck for any and all players on foot, while the single player manning the gunship only needs the gamepad to target and eliminate those players on foot. It's the only game on NintendoLand that requires the nunchuck in any capacity.

good to know, i thought more then one game needed a nunchuk, are you sure the zelda game doesnt need one?

So I'm curious guys...for you who have been satisfied with your Wii U...what have you been playing on it this month? I really just feel lousy for being another one of those gamers who hasn't touched their Wii U in almost a month. Only games I still currently have is New Super Mario Bros U, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mighty Switch Force HD, and Nano Assault Neo.

I probably would like to play more Tekken if I knew some folks who had the Wii U version. I actually friended someone off Miiverse, but they defriended me...I dunno why, we had fun playing a few times.

I did have a copy of Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, but did end up trading it in when I got my 3DS for xmas. I wanted a game to play on my 3ds.

super mario bros u hasn't quite hooked me like previous games. I remember REALLY enjoying NSMBWii for regular Wii, but I just don't get the same enjoyment whenever I play this one. I don't know why, I can tell it's a better game than NSMB2 on the 3DS. i played that one, and didn't like the levels at all.

The most fun I had on my Wii U this month was replaying the Rayman Legends demo. Can't wait til that game is out, it looks so fun.

I keep browsing on eshop hoping they'd add a new title I'd wanna download. I've been converting to mostly digital lately, and I keep looking to see if they'll add Black Ops 2, or Funky Barn to eshop. Those both would be very easy impulse buys for me, but I guess they don't want my money.

Well when I bought mine, I got Black Ops and NSMBU with it, and I've kind of ignored Mario. I'm still playing BO online, near 80 hours put into multilayer, and I still have NSMBU to play, along with Trine 2 which I bought a couple of weeks ago.

I figure by the time I get sick of BO, I'll have NSMBU to finish, and some more games will have released, along with the stuff I have yet to pick up. Haven't spent any time with my 360 since buying the Wii U except for a couple hours of Trials too.

I've been playing lots of Nintendoland. Mario is Mario. But Nintendoland is really fresh. Its fantastic arcade and party experience.

Really? you been playing with other people, or by yourself? Cuz I dunno, I didn't really have a whole lot of fun with it where I was itching to play some of the games again. I dunno, I think I feel there are better arcade type games out there to play.

I play about an hour or so every day to de-stress before bed. I have too many games though. NSMBU, Tekken, Batman, Blops2, AC3, NG3, Zombiu, Nintendoland, Mighty Switch Force, Nano Assault, Trine 2

Only ones I've beaten are MSF and Nano Assault tbh :3

Add me for tekken matches if you want to be crushed by my overwhelming n00bocity.

Ok has anyone had issues with Netflix? So I finally decided to try out the netflix on my Wii U. It works fine menu wise and such until you want to play a movie. The sound of what ever movie you're playing comes out of the TV but the screen stays black. It switches and plays fine to the gamepad, and the netflix screen and app displays perfectly on the TV... just not when playing a Movie. I tried messing around with resolution settings to see if that could be the problem but fixed nothing. Has anyone had any issue like this before?

I'd be down for more tekken friends to add. I added a request for you. My NNID is Yuripaw also. Still not sure if you have to manually add me, or you'll just see the request.

got a flu today, so im not really up to playing tonight, but send me a miiverse message or PM on here if you're ever looking to play. If you have a steam account, you can also find me on there a lot under Yuripaw.

Uh...no. That sounds odd. Maybe try deleting, re-downloading, and re-installing?

I went game crazy ha, I own Trine 2, Batman, Ninja Gaiden, mario U, Nintendo Land, Sonic Racing, and Tekken Tag, so I been playing a variety of things and enjoying the hell out the system. heh as a father being able to actually game while kid's watching TV is flawless.

first time trying to move a game from my HDD to my Wii U empty space

AC3 had a glitch I just wanted to see if moving it from my HDD to my Wii U lessens some of the errors this glitchy games seem to have. I've looked online and some people have recommended this :|

so it seems to take a few hours to move a game as large as AC3 from USB Storage to Wii U's internal space

got to love this maching

Been playing a bit of Tekken since I got it on Monday. Not having played it since the first Tekken Tag, I am really bad at it now. My timing is completely off.

If anyone is interested in playing, add me: Sir_Alistair.

ZombieU. Lots and lots of ZombieU. However after 70+ hours of it I am now cleansing my gaming palate with Trine 2 which is lovely. It looks stunning and is delightfully charming and amusing. It is well worth your consideration.

Other than that I have been using the excellent browser [very handy for playing VC Majora's Mask on my Wii whilst I have a spoiler through walkthrough loaded on the Wii U gamepad next to me :D].

I has the flu too :(. Hope you feel better soon.

So i might be a tad LTTP in this particular technique but last night i was all tucked in but couldn't fall asleep. Usually that meant i would be laying there in the dark until my body finally decided to shut down simply cus i wouldn't bring myself to get up, turn on the tv, turn the console and play it knowing i'd have the shut everything off before trying to sleep again... but last night i just reached for the gamepad, opened up Nano Assault and had a blast trying to get high scores...

...Ninty, i love how you keep showing me possibilities i have never though before.

I'm still playing Sonic Transformed. It's really good online, I just wish it wasn't so difficult to find a lobby. I always get a ton of network errors before it finally finds a game. Once you're in a lobby though, it usually fills up to a decent number of players quite quickly.

I've got Zombi U but I'm too worried about running into a game-breaking bug again. Hoping for a patch.

Also still got the CoD campaign to finish, but it's kinda boring. Online is great, but I stink at it.

Nintendo Land still getting a fair bit of love from me.

I'll probably buy The Cave next week, so long as the reviews are good.

You might want to drop by the NintendoLand OT sometime ; )

(Granted, I have it over a week now)

Still playing ZombiU; having fun (and feeling slightly scared) and I want to point my finger at Gamespot; they just a had a video about the death of survival horror, being replaced by action games with a horror theme. They did acknowledge Amnesia and another game, but other games where the player is weak and underpowered don't exist anymore. Thickheaded washouts.

Nintendoland is fun, but I just play it in short bursts; haven't played it in multiplayer yet, but that will happen soon enough.

And I'm getting Arkham City Armored Edition one of these days, for free. Glad I held out during the Steam Sales.

Man I was doing that in the 80's with Astro wars.

Welcome to the party. I feel old.

Try playing for a bit to see if it updates. This problem has happened to others too including myself. I went with a fix someone posted and got wara wara back but lost my progress in a couple games. I think I actually have the correct fix which I posted on reddit. My username is leatherface24. Just search that post from me if the problem persists.

Yet, they were the ones to give ZombiU a shovelware score. Bunch of clowns. I remember how the review starts. ,,This is a game trapped in the wrong genre'' No, sorry Gamespot guy. You're trapped in the wrong job.

I was hesitant to buy ZombiU, but it really is great. Kinda saved the Wii U launch for me. I never expected this to be a game that would actually scare me and really pulls off horror adventure gameplay well, with meaningful new additions, including the gamepad integration.

Just want to pop in and say FIFA 12.5 with touchscreen controls Off TV on the GamePad is the greatest thing on earth.

My January stats show 68 hours. At this rate, by the end of the year I may reach 1000 hours 0_o (damn stats...!)

Five player Nintendo Land is sublime. I am more and more convinced every day that I will not be buying a Sony or Microsoft console in the next generation for quite awhile if at all. I am really, really happy with the Wii U.

I have Tekken and I suck at it.

If you send a request through Miiverse, then the other person will receive it.

yes, Nintendoland is simply the best multiplayer game released in a long while, I played it with friends of mine in December and actually they asked me a few days back to have another multiplayer session. I'm also not going to buy an additional console, my Laptop and the WiiU will be enough for me

I bought one at launch in the U.S. and I enjoyed it for about a month. I think its a neat system, but it needs a lot more games. The upcoming lineup is pretty freakin awful. I have no interest in Monster Hunter. Maybe Bayonetta and Pikmin 3 but those are later in the year.

I gotta be honest, its the same shit, different day, when it comes to a Nintendo system in terms of that drought after the initial launch.

I haven't even turned mine on for 3 weeks and I'm back to the PS3. I'd be really pissed off right now if this was the only console I owned. Nintendo and 3rd parties need to get to announcing some shit or people gonna lose confidence in this system quickly. And they better do it quickly before PS4 and 720 make their big announcements. If they don't show us anything worthwhile and the other 2 get announced, there's gonna be a full-on stampede at GameStop from people looking to trade in their WiiU systems.

I'm playing through Batman again, Trine 2, Mario, Nintendoland, and trying the demos of other games. I haven't really touched AC3 or Blops2 yet.

I agree, but damn, I miss Playmaker so much. Fifa is good, but it's just so frustrating coming from the Playmaker system...

Playmaker with a next gen engine would be sex, but I'm surprised how much I enjoy FIFA. I had FIFA 11 on PS3 and found it so bad I wrote the series off. Big mistake, it has become crazy good.

Is it coming? I'm hoping the reason for PES2013 Wii being pretty much a re-release of PES2012 has to do with them working on a Wii U version.. Fingers crossed. The IR pointer is sooo much smoother on Wii U (even in Wii mode), so this must happen. And once the presentation is improved (fox engine + menues that doesn't look like a flash menu) it will be the best football game ever (since ISS98. nothing will ever top ISS98).

So close to reselling Assassin's Creed 3. I've beaten the story already and while running around the frontier is fun I really want to play the multiplayer but the matching is so broken. I've only had two actual sessions since I got the game. One was Christmas day and another a few days later. Nothing since then because I can't get into matches.

This isn't a lack of satisfaction with the Wii U but the game itself and its online.

I've had for two weeks and haven't had a single feeling of regret. I did, however, get an amazing deal:

Premium Model
Wiimote + Nunchuck (Motions plus edition)
Pro Controller
Zombi U
Batman
Assassins Creed

All this for only $482,- do bear in mind this is in Denmark where the console alone cost $535!

Whoa! That's a good deal for you! Where did you buy it. In a shop or private deal? I live in Sweden, not far from Denmark, so I'm curious.

Private deal on Den Blå Avis (Danish equivalent of craiglist). Boxes were thrown out and has a scratch here and there, really nothing particular I'd say.

EDIT: There are two right now selling their premium for only $323 + shipping. You can really save a bunch buying used.

Ok. Seems you made a good deal there. Great for you!
Yeah, I've seen some good deals on the swedish equivalent 'blocket.se'.

But then again...with my huge backlog of games for my PS2/GC/Wii/360/PC, something tells me I just don't need another gaming console. But then again...the Wii U is an amazingly cool machine.

ZombiU mainly, Black Ops 2, Nano Assault Neo, Trine 2, Puddle, Little Inferno and the demos of FIFA, Sonic Racing Transformed and Rayman Legends. Plus extensive use of Netflix.

Very happy with my purchase so far, and I've got Darksiders 2 to keep me busy when I've finished with my other games. The Wii U has the best launch lineup I've ever seen tbh, although I have avoided buying Arkham City and Darksiders 2 for my previous gen consoles because I was waiting for the U SKUs.

Thanks. Yeah, it's a really cool piece of machine. I'm going Wii U/PC which creates a synergy between each other.

And toilet gaming, playing Batman while taking a dumb, nothing to point fingers at!

Well, I have to admit that ZombiU is probably one of the best games I've played this year, a new genre on itself I would say, a First Person Survival Horror.
No, it's not a shooter, even if you're lucky and find someone else's zombie full of ammo, the game obligates you to analyse the situation and to think well what has to be done before doing it.

For it's sequel, I don't want a "better fighting system" because this game is not about fighting, is about thinking and it doesn't need a combo system or zombies that require you to perform some "just frames defenses" or "special attacks" to kill them. It's all about thinking and knowing where to shot, and where to fight.

The only problems: It has some bugs that can break the game, but I don't think they are going to be difficult to patch. If played on survival mode, the vast majority of those bugs doesn't exists (most of them are related to when the events are triggered, for example, you are told to return to the safe-house to continue your mission and then killed before arriving. The game then respawns you on the safehouse (with another character) but the mission doesn't update itself as if you had reached the safehouse).

Nintendoland is another big surprise I had, a positive one. Much, much better than WiiSports for the Wii.

I also have bought Batman AC (IQ is miles better than the Xbox 360 version and I haven't noticed those framerate drops outside of some cut-scenes) and Darksiders 2 (having a map and the inventory on the pad screen is a really good feature, and then off-tv play of course).

From the eShop I bought Nano Assault which is great, and Mighty Swich Force HD. About the last one, it's not a platformer game as I thought it would be, but a puzzle game. So I was pleasantly surprised.

When Rayman Legends gets on sale, I will decide between it or Mario depending on peoples impressions.

I also plan to get Ninja Gainden 3 if Bayonetta 2 is still far from retailing.

Satisfied as I am, I think my Wii U is fucked. Turned itself off, blinking red light, felt much hotter than usual. I've moved other stuff away to give it more ventilation in the event that this was a fluke, but I always fear the worst with this kind of thing.
