Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Hi random question, my gamepad has been fine since launch and has worked as far away as the bathroom but over the last couple of days has struggled badly at that distance and even cuts out for a few seconds occasionally in the same as the system, any advice?

i got a new house phone about 2 weeks ago and a femtocell about a week ago but neither of them would use 5ghz so they shouldn't affect it should they?, might ask my neighbour if he's got anything new as i live in a flat so his living room is right next to mine

Try moving the Wii U around within a small radius. Then try placing it in different places. Test the Gamepad range and also take notice of any walls or corners the signal travels through. Then move it back to the original spot and test again. Compare the results based on similar ranges and obstructions.

yeah i'll give that a go later, i'm just hoping its not damaged as it has dropped on the floor a couple of times
 
Waiting for Need for speed & Monster hunter 3U will get day one from Eshop.

Also still there is small hope to get crysis 3 on wii U or even PS 4 to play it.

Because it's not playable on consoles .

By the way who think lego deserve my money.

For your information I don't like assassins creed before or GTA IV.

Question! How does the auto off feature work on Wii U? I have auto off enabled, but I accidentally left Xenoblade on in Wii mode. It was paused by pressing the home button. And it stayed on for three days with no auto off.... Why didn't the Wii U do the auto off in my case?

the wii mode turns your wii u into a wii

Because your Wii U has no idea it is a Wii U when it is in Wii mode. Therefore, it won't switch off, since, iirc, the Wii doesn't have the same function.

The Wii U gets so much shit for its slow OS. I just fired up my 360 for about the 2nd time this year and that thing is just as slow if not more so thanks to the extremely bloated and convoluted OS and organizational structure.

I was just about to make a thread asking why the wii U is so slow actually. It is by far slower than the PS3 and 360 yet it is more powerful, I don't understand. Could someone explain to me why it takes 10-15 seconds to get to the settings? That is ridiculous.

Poorly made/rushed. The patches should probably fix it.

:-( a most unfortunate answer. I purposely have not turned on my wii u for over a month in hopes that some updates to the OS would bring a better experience. I guess I'll just deal with it and finally get around to playing Zombie U.

Can I play two play in SMB with a pro controller? Or can I only use wiimotes?

It's unoptimized. Two big updates, one coming on April and the other over Summer, are expected to fix this.

EDIT: Beaten! Oh well, you can only use Gamepad and Wiimotes for SMB. No Pro Controller support.

I do find it quite odd that people keep bringing up settings as an example of the Wii u slowness, its hardly like settings is something you need to access very often think I've only ever been in settings 3 or 4 times since November

By the fall . Btw, I misread your post, missed the "two play" part ... I'm afraid that, as of now, it's only possible to play Multiplayer with Wiimotes. You can't have one person using the Gamepad and the others playing with Wiimotes, it's just the latter or nothing (unless you're playing Boost Mode). I'm very sorry for the confusion man. Quite a bad decision on Nintendo's part.
 
Tried this for the first time earlier on. This game has to be ported to Wii U eShop, even if only local play is possible. It's too perfect. Amazingly fun game!

If anyone is looking for something to play and still hasn't purchased Little Inferno, the eshop game is now only $5. I plan on getting this one later today as it has had good reviews and will hold me over until Lego City Undercover comes out.

I got a question regarding playing old Wii games on the Wii U.

As Wii U uses HDMI, I can imagine that games regular Wii games (SMG series, etc.) get somewhat sharper when played on the Wii U?

There's a small amount of blur, on my TVs at least, when playing consoles using AV cables such as the old Wii. But I was thinking that Wii U perhaps has improved on image sharpness?

yes the images come out quite clearer. mind you i'm just now getting an HDTV, so the transition is new to me. however i can still tell the difference between playing Wii games on a standard def set and on a HD set. the Wii U helps optimize Wii titles for HD. it's great. i particularly enjoy playing Bust A Move Plus.

It really depends on your TVs upscaler. Wii U upscales the games so your TV doesn't have to. My TVs upscaler sucks, so playing Wii games on Wii U makes them look a lot better.
 
Hey fellas, I joined the Wii U club. Still haven't played yet and I'm a bit disappointed thebinitial update still takes so long but otherwhise it has a good feel and I think I'm going to have lots of fun.

Hey guys. Got a Wii U today because of the Target $50 gift card deal. They're running a buy 2 get one free sale. I'm considering Mario, ZombiU, and maybe Sega Racing Transformed. Any thoughts? I also thought I might wait and pick up Monster Hunter 3, but I've never played a Monster Hunter game and was disappointed by the demo.

Any advice for these games or others would be much appreciated. Thanks! Digging the machine so far. Girlfriend and I had some fun NintendoLand times tonight.

Most of the people who played New Super Mario Bros U agree that it is the greatest 2D Mario for quite some time. I'd happily recommend it

Thanks, due to the premium pack I have Nintendoland and I also got New Super Mario Bros. U. Going to pick up Zombi U as well.

Still having trouble with the update though, I get the error code 108-0066 every couple of minutes which makes the already long download time even longer :(

Does anyone know if there are some wifi fixes in this update?
 
I would say NSMB U as well (not the best 2D Mario, but the best NSMB for sure IMHO) and Zombie U if you can find it cheap at retail. I still cannot believe Ubisoft charges €69.90 for the eShop version which you can only purchase late at night...
 
I'm very satisfied with my Wii U. It us a wonderful machine to play all my favourite Nintendo franchise games in, and I care more about that than whether Dead Island comes to the console.

Miiverse is a wonderful tool to connect with fellow gamers and developers, to gauge reaction and share tips. The eShop looks like it has a very bright future with dozens of great-looking Indie games on their way. The GamePad has great potential to provide an extra dimension of fun in games across the lifespan.

Nintendo have made mistakes, and it's frustrating that once again third parties have ignored a Nintendo console. But I have enough money for one console a generation (at least until I can pick up a cheap second late in the gen), and given the choice between GTA or Uncharted and Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash and more, there's only ever one choice for me.
 
I spent a couple hours on youtube last night. The Wii U browser works so well with youtube that is has become my favourite tool to watch longer videos.

Last night, it was all of Kristen Bell's appearances on Craig Ferguson. So good.
 
I've had my Wii U since launch and I have never been happier with a machine.

I have bought every console and the Wii U is really a cut above the rest. Sure, the OS could be a bit faster but everything else is just amazing. The GamePad is a genius innovation in gaming, contrary to what many believe, but it really needs to be experienced to realise this. Miiverse is also amazing, bringing sharing to a new level. I can see what Sony are going with in regards to the PS4 social features with video, but to me that kind of screws the process a little. A screenshot is simple enough.

I have five games for my Wii U: Mario, Batman, NintendoLand, Nano Assault Neo and Scribblenauts, with Lego City, NFS, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Zelda, Assassin's Creed 4, Watch_Dogs and Lego Marvel all pre-ordered for this year. Plus, Pokémon Rumble U for obvious reasons.

The Wii U is really good in my eyes, and the eyes of my friends, that we're not bothering to get multiplatform games on the 360/PS3 anymore, always on the Wii U where possible.

I am very happy with my purchase and it does truly astonish me that people and developers are so negative about the console.
