Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Oh boy, they haven't communicated this well. You can play any of the VC titles you bought on the Wii on your Wii U if you transfer them over to your Wii U, which will remove them from your Wii, but you can only play them while running the Wii U in Wii mode, which means no gamepad support, you'd still need a Wiimote+whatever attachment you prefer.

However, Nintendo has started re-releasing some Wii U VC titles, with one a month at 30 cents of your local currency that do support the gamepad and can be played from the Wii U's normal mode as opposed to having to go into the Wii compatibility mode. Nintendo says they plan to eventually bring back most of the Wii's VC catalog to the Wii U, and that at that time people who already own those VC titles will be entitled to rebuy them at a discounted price, around a dollar or some crap, for the privilege of playing them outside of the Wii compatibility mode, gamepad support and Miiverse functionality.

I am excited to get my Wii U, but lordy does it not surprise me that this system has been a messy launch.

E: And thank you for the clarification!

Excuse my ignorance considering I've had the Wii U since day 1, but I never really had any friends until this week when I got NFSMW. My question is, how do you send a friend a message?

only through Miiverse, what is pretty stupid imo if you can't enter it when you play online. The games should be able to integrate the Miiverse message system ingame. Also one message to multiple friends would be welcome

I'm expecting a direct on Thursday it makes sense,I'm almost always wrong though
Hopefully you are right this time! Btw is it possible you or someone else can lead me to or inform me on the things Iwata said about resigning and what they will be doing in order to meet the end of the year goal was there anything specific he said? I cant really remember and that "Iwata implies resigning..." thread simply states how he is dedicated, and or commited to reaching the 1Billion dollars goal.

I need som help here, guys.

I got my Wii U swapped due to dead pixels on the GamePad. Now I can't link my Nintendo ID to the new console as it's still activated on the unit I returned. Is there any way to get my profile active on the new consoles? I would really like to use that specific profile as my main email is linked to it.

You'll probably have to call Nintendo and ask them to deactivate it.

So I bought a Wii U Deluxe on launch day, and played it some but it's mostly been collecting dust... until March! Man, I've been playing the hell outta it for days now. NFSMW U, Monster Hunter, and, most notably, Lego City Undercover, have all seen a lot of play time.

If Nintendo and 3rd parties keep cranking out good games like the ones I mention above, and the OS issues get ironed out, I can see this console becoming something I play more than I did the original Wii, which saw hundreds of hours from me.

Anyway, just thought I'd say I'm happy with my purchase for the first time since launch.

Anyone else notice that now it takes longer for the system to get to the main menu because of searching for updates? It seems like it started the minute I put Zen Pinball 2 on the system.

I'm still pretty satisfied with my WiiU. Bought my 8th retail game today in just about 4 months with the system (LCU) beside 6 e-shop only games. And people say WiiU has no games...

I'm pretty happy with my Wii U. I've gotten plenty of enjoyment out of it.

I'm looking forward to May and the 30 cent Super Metroid.

I always go with Hori

I usually do go with Hori, but since I'm anal about things like this, I may just go with the Nintendo one since I can get it, well, today.

The official nintendo gamepad protector is just fine.

As I stated above, this is the one I'll probably go with. Since it's not complete shit, it's probably fine to spend a few more bucks.

Has anyone had any issues buying used Wiimotes? I'm considering just buying mine all used via Amazon (the Wii U plus ones) because I can save ~$12/Wiimote.

Yeah the system has games. Just arguably not games many people would want for a number of reason (age, etc) but there are games.

I'm happy with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Lego City Undercover as my latest purchases however I can easily see myself finishing Lego City fairly soon in the next few days depending how much I play. I've already clocked more then 20 hours on Monster Hunter. I think my honeymoon period with that game is done. I'll maybe log an hour or so per session but I don't see it being an everyday, several hours session that it has been the last few days.

That puts me back to waiting for more games or to simply focus my attention on the 3DS again and revisit old games on the Wii and the PC. Yes there is the Wi U eShop but I'm not really in the mood for more platformers and that seems be the only things being offered.

I'm fine with the waiting for games to come out. Gaming isn't my life and I have other things I can do. However when I do want to game it's just not knowing what I'm waiting for and for how long is the problem I have with the Wii U and Nintendo.

Is Super Metroid confirmed for May? (EU region)

Bought a Wii U on Tuesday due to the HMV 199.99 Premium deal. (Originally planned to buy one when Mario 3D would release, but 199.99 was too good to skip).

Set it up yesterday, the "update" was relatively quick and it's working smoothly now. Had some minor issues with the internet connection, but quickly resolved it after moving the console to the right slightly (lol).

Punch Out at 60Hz is pretty awesome, look forward to upgrading my Wii VC games when they eventually become available.

Might get NSMBU at some point.

It feels strange playing Nintendoland whilst it's on the tv and the gamepad screen. In a good way.

Much prefer the image quality of the TV image though.

Visual upgrade is yet to settle in, despite playing on a 360 since '07. Just so used to Nintendo games on GC/Wii hardware for the last 10-11 years.

Hope they put in a tv-output image adjust option ala the eShop and Miiverse, in the system settings.

Also, I'll probably have to switch to component cables in order to use my 2.1 sound system. (My tv doesn't have an audio out port - it's an old HD tv from Jan 2007, hence no just-scan/pixel option).

Has anything been said about expanding the number of menus pages once you fill all of the boxes with games/apps?

I have a 2 tb hdd and dont want to have to delete any because i cant hit any more on my home menus.

I almost just bought one in HMV, they are doing the Premium model with Zombie U for £199. Was so tempted, but it's payday and I always seem to blow my load on the first day of the month!

well even more satisfied than ever with my wii u, picked up darksiders 2 yesterday in hmv only £9.99 absolute bargain, seems pretty good so far though the visuals are a bit glitchy, then lego city arrived today enjoying greatly absolutely hilarious, got 9 retail games now and 6 downloadables

Been satisfied with the Wii U from day one. Haters gunna hate, and as long as Nintendo continues churning out Nintendo games (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash, Party, Pikmin, etc) I will be satisfied.

I think the real problem lies in expectations. I buy a Nintendo console for Nintendo first, everything else second. If playing BF4 is that really that important to me or anyone, why wouldn't you play on the PC where it is best played?

Anyhoo.. the reason I posted in here finally is because I just got MH3U for the WiiU and 3DS. Amazing game.

The reason that has made me exceptionally re-pleased with the WiiU is the ability to seamlessly bring up the internet browser on the gamepad while playing (singleplayer only obviously). This is great for any JRPG, with all their complicated questing and the such, and really has been instrumental in helping me find the spawn locations of rare materials.

Thats awesome, and something that only the WiiU can do so well, because of the gamepad.

not satisfied, chill out

Really? Your the first person I've heard say this. I'm about 50 hours in and still feel I've barely scratched the surface of monster hunter. Are you playing online with GAFers? It's been a lot of fun just helping people out and questing with people you can later on talk about with on the forums.

don't want to turn this into a MH thread but this game has single handedly rejuvenated my Wii U satisfaction. I'm already 60+ hours into it and my enthusiasm has not yet wavered one bit.

about to finish "Fist of the North Star" soon (clocked over 20 hours).
bought Assassins Creed III for cheap 2 weeks ago(seems to be pretty good. don't like the fighting controls though).
Tomorrow I will get MH3, lego City and NFSU. MH3 and Lego city will have to wait till I finish AC3. NFS is perfect for short burts in between. So is "Nintendo Land" which I also play almost daily.
Today I also realized that I have 46(!) unfinished VC games(at least 10 act-adv/RPGs, etc). therefor weekends are strictly reserved to retro stuff from now on.
(Re)started "Light Crusader"(Genesis act-adv by Treasure) today. man, what a great game.

so, YES. I'm more than satisfied atm. I have almost too many games to play tbh.
I really can't wait to sink my teeth into Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 soon.
Both look absolutly amazing and have that Nintendo-feel. unique in the entire videogames world

I want to know about April releases any dates?
I really hope April is not a dead month for my Wii U

also this is me the last few hours

I am the only one who seems to spend a few hours a using this thing

there is no OT thread for it but I do like it as part of my Wii U experience

Whole heartedly agree. Makes me wish Nintendo was pushing hardcore titles more instead of casual scum. Everyone says you buy Nintendo systems for their games but all I cared about was MH and Bayo2.

When you re-map buttons in VC is it just for that game or the entire VC? I wanted to do the L/R switch for ZL/ZR for F-Zero but was worried it would stick for other games where it wasn't necessary.

the vc isn't an actual service it's just a collection of individual games, each has its own emulator so any control mapping is for that game only

YUUUUUP. I've never played a Monster Hunter before and am loving this game. I'm only 15 hours in myself, but I don't actually have much time for gaming so that 15 hours represents every free moment I've had since its release. Fantastic game and I've just barely scratched the surface.

Yup, I bought a Wii U for MH and pretty much don't care what else comes out at the moment.
