Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

I'm with Lele on this I think. Sure it was alpha hardware, but it looked sooo damned good. They got an outside team to do it, who I can imagine worked their arses off to make it look as good as possible. What could be added to that demo that wasn't there already? Smoother in the few times it dropped frames, and maybe full 1080, but I doubt it will look as different as the past generation comparison pictures.

Edit: To add, I'll be very happy if it's basically the same as the E3 demo, just more solid.

When I saw the Zelda Spaceworld video I thought things couldn't look better than that. And it did.

Sure, the difference between the WiiU Zelda demo and the final game will probably not be as big as the difference between the N64 Zelda demo and Ocarina of Time, but, there will be a difference.

Xenoblade has much more potential to be made into a franchise than Last Story to be honest. It was really well received and a good sequel would most likely to do better. The Last Story on the other hand was a relative bomb.

so I've heard T_T damn u NOA

the only good news is monolith is Nintendo owned these days.

Also wasn't this tech demo done with not even final hardware, which we already know got better from first to final devkit? Yeahhh....

But Nintendo has never made an HD game! They cant manage to make something that could look better! Their hundreds of engineers and programmers cant possibly design an HD engine.

This dream will never be a reality!

It is a fact that the new Zelda will look far better when it is released
by Retro.

Remember GTA4? It looked pretty great when it was released. Now compare that to GTA V. It looks like ass. Just like the Spaceworld 2000 demo compared to Twilight Princess. It may be hard to believe now, but the final product will look amazing, and blow that tech demo out of the water.

Do you guys think they will save all the OS functionality/feature/online for the conference or maybe have a separate event? Before or After e3 even? Knowing how stupid GAF gets when a new trailer isnt being shown onstage, i would hope they kind of keep all that stuff in a snazzy montage like last years, then go into depth latter and save that time for showing off some launch exclusives.

It had better lighting and IQ than pretty much any game on a console.

yeah not bad for the low-end hardware for this next-gen :)

I cannot wait to see what Nintendo does with this thing a fully fleshed out HD game without bumped up Wii assets

that is what I am annoyed at the most we do not have any images of the 1st party flagship launch title

I have no idea what the first Nintendo gem will look like on WiiU all we can point at is that demo

They'll shave that for their own event, maybe GDC.
E3 will be for games.

No?
It was a small team in EAD that made it.
Do you have a link for that, because I could have sworn Iwata himself said it was an outside team. I'll try and find my source. Anyway, I still think that the thing is AMAZING, and can't see how it can be improved to the same level as the other comparisons.

If it is, great, if not, still great.

I think it will get its own event after E3 like the 3ds did. I remember there was an event where Nintendo invited game journalist to check out stuff like the multitasking and the different apps.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I see this word pop up a lot and I haven't the foggiest idea what it means. If you would be so kind as to enlighten me?

When you can actually see an image be loaded into the game.
The closer you are to it, the easier it is to see load in.

To me its crazier to assume the Wii U is 5x the current gen than it is to assume the Next Box is 6 x. I think the Wii U will be closer to 3 x and Next Box a doubling of htat.

If the Wii U is around 5x the power of the XBOX 360, would that imply that the GPU is around 1 TFLOP in performance? With the Xenos at 240 GFLOPS, I could see how that rough estimate could be made.

Do the rumours we already have back that kind of scenario up in anyway? I'm expecting more of a 3 - 4x leap myself with a 2x leap from Wii U to the next generation XBOX.

If I were in charge of the e3 conference (as far flung a dream as it is) I would be pressuring each team to have at least ten seconds of footage ready for each major franchise, or at least the franchises expected in the next two years, for a sizzle reel to show at the start of the conference. I wouldn't care about whether or not they actually became games - just take your best ideas for the next iteration of each franchise and produce something to get people hyped.

Imagine:
The hall goes dark, silence falls across the crowd.
The Mario theme begins, in all it's 28-bit glory. The original Mario Bros. appears on screen, Mario begins running right. It transforms through recreations of all the console Super Mario games - up to Galaxy 2. The music, still playing the Mario theme, crescendos into a live orchestration.
Silence.
We see the feet of the SMG2 model against a black background, which begins transforming before our eyes (a la the Brawl reveal trailer) as the camera pans upwards, stopping on his face. Transformation complete, Mario gives the peace sign, saying 'It's-a me, Mario!'
The background fades in, revealing the courtyard of Princess Peach's castle. The camera pans around to show off the detail. Then, clunk, Bowser jumps down from in front of Mario, and laughs. The camera pans back further and further, to reveal a the entire Mushroom Planet. 'Super Mario World U' appears on the screen.
Without stopping, the video continues, the orchestra playing music that doesn't let up for a second.
Samus fires against Ridley, Starfox is locked in a battle with Andross in space, Link pulls the Master Sword in the temple of time, Kirby and Metaknight in battle, a jet-ski racerflies across waves like butter, Little Mac punches out King Hippo, Miis chase each other down, Mario, Luigi, Toad and a Mii platform their way across W1-1, hundreds of Pikmin do battle against an army of Bulborbs, Donkey, Diddy and Trixie Kong jump across the jungle, karts race around Luigi's Raceway, throw in a new IP, then cut back to black. Wii U logo fades in.

Iwata steps on stage and says 'Who said wow?'

...
Yeah, it's nice to want things ;)

Well let's not forget that RV770s are on the 55nm process. We've come a long way since then.

4850 is a teraflop, just looked it up.

i still expect rv730 not rv 770 (4850)

i mean a teraflop sounds impressive but the 7970 is over 3.

A 4870 is beyond a TFLOP. But what does a 7970 have to do with anything when it's not going to be in a console?

And there's really nothing to base the idea of an RV730 on.

*needs to find out what the inside joke is*

Basically, someone posted a picture from Myst.
Someone else asked what game it was.
Like 20 people said Myst.
It's now a running joke in the thread to say "It's Myst" for random images.

Why do you think it'll be a rv730? Hopefully not it's more than "it's nintendo" and "long outdated pre-E3 whispers based on alpha hardware put it around a rv730."
