You couldn't tell the difference between graphics? I mean, Really? The resolution didn't give it away? The lighting, the models...? Anything?
Let me get you two examples:

I accept the fact some people may have seen the new controller as a peripheral or add on of some sort, but when they start talking about new games and EA's support behind the 'new console', plus the demos they showed...
Like No more heroes did not appear on PS3 right?
Why wouldn't it?I just find it interesting that Nintendo thinks the Wii branding continues to (and for years to come) will hold strong/positive brand recognition.

uhhh because of the downward trend it has been having (minus the big discount sale period of black friday).Why wouldn't it?

Consoles always experience a downward trend at the end of a generation though. It's hard to quantify momentum so I'm not sure where to go with that.uhhh because of the downward trend it has been having (minus the big discount sale period of black friday).
Usually when you keep a brand name it's because of the huge momentum it has and you don't want it to die. I'd say the Wii's momentum hasn't died, but it's considerably slowed, who knows a year from now.... Not saying they are wrong or right, just saying it's interesting that they think the Wii has reached that level.
me neither. Just saying it's interesting that they're so confident in assuming that it does have that huge momentum enough to carry the brand name.Consoles always experience a downward trend at the end of a generation though. It's hard to quantify momentum so I'm not sure where to go with that.
NMH was Suda51's highest selling game actually. The Wii version anyway.
The original point to that comment was that it still sold like shit. Suda games sell like shit. Doesn't matter how amazing they may or may not be. They sell like shit. Granted, NMH apparently sold well enough to warrant a sequel (that also sold like shit) and in turn released an uprez port that sold even shittier.
Long story short. His games sell like shit... How did that Suda/Mikami title sell?
Alright. I guess I don't see why they would abandon it. Though I'm not sure why they abandoned the nintendo entertainment system name either. Nintendo shrouded in confusing mystery.me neither. Just saying it's interesting that they're so confident in assuming that it does have that huge momentum enough to carry the brand name.
I think the real point is that NMH sold better than any previous Suda51 game, thus earning it a port to a different system. Not Suda's fault if PS3 gamers don't like mature games.Forsaken82 said:The original point to that comment was that it still sold like shit. Suda games sell like shit. Nintendo probably should have made it more clear, but there were definitely people on the internet and in the press that knew better and wrote things about how it was just a new accessory.
There's another reason.Uh what about Playstation 3? What about XBox 360? They aren't confused with similar names, so the name itself isn't the problem. The reason why 3DS has problems is because first, the DS was still selling and is still selling. Second, there are three different versions of the DS on the market, so this is the fourth.

I'm hoping for a new name and the loss of circle-pads.I'm still hoping for a new name and a redesign when it is next shown, but who knows eh?
I do think Nintendo would've listened to complaints, especially given how "bad" they're doing right now.
I'm hoping for a new name and the loss of circle-pads.
After the 3DS being confused with DS fiasco, a name change isn't impossible imo.
This was pretty much my exact feeling on the subject.
I'm right now rewatching the unveiling video.

Sticks would probably be too awkward with the size of the controller. The Circle Pad Pro apparently has a clickable pad so it's possible Wii U's will too. Plus, the Wii U pads were said to feel much better than the 3DS ones already.
Never saw this. Source, by chance?
Sony should really stop using the Playstation name. It's really lost a lot of momentum since the Playstation 2 days.
It sold incredibly well and to an audience that now associates "Wii" with gaming.
Of course those people do not spend time on GAF.
Not surprising at all.Terrible example and you know it. The psx sold like gangbusters and then the ps2 topped that even more with somehow more ridiculous numbers. 2 generations of unprecedented momentum earns the branding.
I know that Nintendo is trying to do the same with the wii and alls I'm saying is that it's interesting they think the brand can do it.
Edit: also analogs definitely aren't clickable that we know of. The only rumor is that he wii-u now includes real triggers.
Care to supply some actual data? I recall that Wii game attach rater were pretty damn similar to PS3/360 so I don't know what you're going on about.No one is confusing had with the mainstream or casual market. There is one rule that remains constant when it comes to that market. They are fickle beings. Just because they were around for one thing doesn't mean they stick around for the long run. And all I was saying that I find it interesting that Nintendo thinks the wii branding is enough to put their future on. And hey I'd it ends up being as successful as the wii it will be interesting to see if they stick with wii-____for future consoles beyond the next.
Interesting is all. I personally don't buy it just yet. But time will tell.
Not surprising at all.
GB->GBC->GBA
NES->SNES
DS->3DS
V2 and V4 have different amounts of ram. V2W and V4W are 3rd gen kits with updates but the same amounts of ram.
1080 p and 60 fps will be standard for Nintendo games. Will be glorious.
F-Zero 1080p 60fps...think about it.
Nintendo !
ALL 3rd party blockbusters
Thanks.
We're half way to E3 2012! It's crazy how little we have heard about Wii U since the "unveiling". I wonder how much is going to change.

Nintendo has much to prove this time. Nintendo! Wii, grew up. Mii and my friends are not interested in U, outside of our fond memories of Zelda and Mario. Wii, want U, to evolve. Most of Wii, have HD televisions now. Developers also have better tools too. Can WiiU met the future, or do we move on, without U? Wii are living in hard times now. Wii will not spend a couple of hundred dollars, just to play the next Mario and Zelda. Nor will we accept, a last gen system, w/ old games. Wii have spoken.
