Do the same for the next CoD (just a timed exclusive, will be impossible to secure it as an actual exclusive) by moneyhatting Activision and offer them the ability to sell DLC unhindered and without any cuts.

This is going to sound pessimistic at the outset, but I think that the honest answer to this question is "they can't."guek said:So the question came up a page or so ago and I've been kind of mulling it over...
So what do you guys think nintendo would have to do in order to "win the hardcore market" or take it from microsoft?
And I mean within reason. They simply can't subsidize a $900 console for $250, nor can they afford to moneyhat every single third party for exclusives.

Monolith making a WiiU game is confirmed btw.StreetsAhead said:Miyamoto apparently has a new IP, Retro may well be working on one/reviving something like StarTropics, Monolith may be making one, and then there's Killer Freaks.
StreetsAhead said:I believe he specified it was a character-based one, like Pikmin [which was his last one iirc].
AntMurda said:But this is always the speculation. Since like 2006. I swear! And Pikmin character was still made by the Yoshi creator. Hino.

It would never happen, but am I odd for thinking that it could be really interesting to see Nintendo take Disaster and turn it into something akin to their take on the Uncharted style of games? Showing a bunch of crazy building destruction, water effects from floods, fire tornadoes, whatever else they can concoct...it could actually make for a really nice graphical showpiece if done right, and if they expanded upon the gunplay elements.StreetsAhead said:I know, I meant that they may be making a new IP as opposed to Xenoblade 2 or Day of Crisis 2, for example.

Seems like a long one at the very least.

But it doesn't necessarily have to be some game changing feature that will make you say WOW". Just anything in general that adds to the system that hasn't been revealed, like a motion camera attached to the sensor bar, an updated wiimote++, vitality sensor built into the uPad somehow, or a rear facing camera on the uPad.
Just something about the system (besides the known unknowns) that will add to the experience and fill-in some of the blanks.
And I'm not necessarily looking for details, because I know they can't share those. I just want to know if there are more surprises related to the hardware that we have to look forward to.
Not saying that it would "work" in the sense that it would help to sap the hardcore market away from Microsoft/Sony in any meaningful way (again, it's not just a matter of releasing games, it has just as much to do with marketing and image perception of the system as a whole). The comment earlier just made me think of what a cool idea it could potentially be on a personal level.Shanadeus said:This might work.

I would say 80% because it is probably going to launch on the Wii some time before the launch of the Wii U, and as the Wii U version will probably just consist of higher-def versions of the Wii assets it will be developed side-by-side with the Wii version.
We honestly don't know for sure yet. From the limited sources, it seems that it has at least has 1GB of main memory, which ~2x the RAM of the 360/PS3. 3x would be 1.5GB, which is also a reasonable possibility.Shanadeus said:Wii U will have at least 3x the RAM of the competitors, but yeah.
Ah. Sorry. Brain thought 3-4x, but wrote 1.5x-2x. Damn this cough syrup has kick.Shanadeus said:Wii U will have at least 3x the RAM of the competitors, but yeah.
Whoops, should have read back a bit further. As for what game they are working on, the concept art we saw a while back looked very similar to Baten Kaitos stuff...StreetsAhead said:I know, I meant that they may be making a new IP as opposed to Xenoblade 2 or Day of Crisis 2, for example.

Is Nintendo definitely going to wait until next E3 before anything comes out, or is there a traditional start of the year conference Nintendo has or something. What is the next big gaming convention for the industry, the game developers conference or something?
bgassassin said:Nope. When someone asked him, lherre said it could be less than 1GB. But when I asked if it could be more than 1.5GB he disappeared again.

It seems it will the CPU will be a monster with 6 cores, and 2 GPUs, how does it compares to WiiU CPU, and GPU?
