I dont see that any verified dev has posted here anything otherwise. This thread is full of nintendofans they can correct what they like.. Tri core CPU and 1GB are confirmed
I'm pretty sure the WiiU is actually just a cleverly disguised Wii.
Let's just all assume the worst, gives us a better chance to be pleasantly surprised.
$349
I predict $299
For me, the "worst" is still pretty good. I'm expecting, at minimum, some weird amount of ram between 1 and 1.5gb, designed so at least part of the ram pool is lightning fast, a 2.5-3.0 ghz Power7 based tricore, absolutely bare minimum 16mb of EDRAM (i think lherre said something about this but I can't remember if he gave any specific numbers), and a GPU with the performance of a rv770LE.
I predict something a tad bit more powerful, but a machine of that caliber priced close to $299 would get me pretty excited.
edit: also, bgassassin, you predicted earlier that they'd have a single USB 3.0 port...was anything said about that? I think I remember something being said about USB 2.0 back around E3, but that might just be my brain making crap up
+1
Those stating prices over $249.99, I'm wondering how long you've been following the industryHonestly while it's possible, I cannot see it launching a penny over $249.99. I'm going by history here.
I got a load HD mario will sell right here.
...sorry

CVG reports that Iwata who has said he expects the Wii U to be priced at more than 20,000 yen in Japan ($250) admitted of the console's price: "This is not going to be cheap."
Just finished listening to this. It was really good up until right when they got to the Wii. Right when they started talking about "casuals" and "hardcore" gamers I had to turn it off. So fucking dumb. Ever heard of software selling hardware, guys? Did you realize that the Wii's barren output over the past year or two may have had an affect on its sales relative to its now competitively priced challengers? No, it's just because CASUAL GAMERS. So much doom and gloom without acknowledging Nintendo's sheer domination and influence on the market over the past 5 or 6 years.http://www.howstuffworks.com/podcasts/techstuff.rss

How stuff works' TechStuff podcast recently did a two part show on Nintendo 'The Story of Nintendo'...from all the way back from 1600s to present...
Seemed like a good thread to post it in considering Nintendo's uncertain future.
US$349 is my call, unless Nintendo get the feeling the economy is still so far in the shitter that they have to do a US$299 just to get enough out there into people's homes. a la 3DS.

Nothing needs to be posted here to counter a few vague comments you just mentioned. There are plenty of comments out there from devs, but you're only interested in a select few that back up your argument. Do yourself a favour and stop being ignorant.
There's nothing confirmed yet, but a 3 core CPU and a minimum of 1GB+ is all but confirmed. If you think that backs up your stance your wrong. Number of cores doesn't tell us how powerful the CPU is.
His interpretation of the "confirmed" specs are as skewed as anybody else's. lherre has stated that it's a tri-core with at minimum 1gb or ram. Nothing about the ram amount is confirmed, despite what luckyman would like you to believe. Nothing about clock speeds has been confirmed. Nothing about the GPU has been confirmed, though I believe it's been heavily implied that a rv770LE (Radeon HD 4830 which has 640 SPUs. I think luckyman adamantly stated in another thread that the wii u gpu would have something around 480 at maximum) was at some point (or still is) used in the dev kits.
I have just confirmed with my friends at AMD Markham (formerly ATI) that the Wii U will be 3 Power PC 603e cores with 1GB of Samsung NOR flash memory as ram. This will be paired with an Ati Mach64 LT.

Suddenly the "Nintendo is doomed" threads don't sound so bad. "Surprise! We're still alive!"Let's just all assume the worst, gives us a better chance to be pleasantly surprised.
Yes! I knew it! I knew thy console time would come, my liege!I have just confirmed with my friends at AMD Markham (formerly ATI) that the Wii U will be 3 Power PC 603e cores..
*backs away from monitor.. goes to garage, tosses baseball bat on passanger's seat. starts the car and heads toward 407..*.. with 1GB of Samsung NOR flash memory as ram.
Back the fuck up, izzat sum actual news there StevieP?
Edit: LOL
They told me 3 full Power7 cores at 4Ghz and a HD7990 with 128MB embedded 1T-Sram and 8GB GDDR5. They're lying to one of us, but which one?
Can someone explain the thread title to me?
Nitrogen cooling?

You bastard! Saw a bunch of numbers from StevieP and got excited... then cried a little. I'm tired.
I assume my sources are the same as Luckyman's
I do too.
It would launch lower than either the PS3 or 360 did, and be much more powerful than either to boot.
Sony and MS I expect to be priced in the area of $399.
Where is this coming from?
Can someone explain the thread title to me?
That's what she said.Well, one hole is pretty much the same as any other, I suppose.
That's what she said.
I wish I knew more about specs so I could get the spec jokes in here.
If they do use software emu for BC, they'll probably throw it in there as a "Why not? The PS2/PS3 did it." Besides, they pretty much did this for OoT/MM in the Collector's Edition and N64 Virtual Console games. They'll use whatever guarantees a near 100% success rate for BC.
Reggie said that games won't upscale, but who knows.
It's using modern parts with at least 2x as much RAM.Where is this coming from?

It will be a lot more powerful. Just not as much as some of these sticklers around here would want.
So the other thread is talking about backwards compatibility. What are the chances of them using partial software emulation to get things done? I'm pretty sure it's no stranger to them considering (I believe) 3DS uses some software emulation for DS games, unless ARM code just happens to be cross compatible.
I guess part of my hopes they would upscale games to make them look nicer. But I'd think tsimply having an HDMI out will make Wii games better on TVs which hate component progressive scan. That said, I still wonder how it will spit out 480i titles.
Link?

I saw for the first time today an extended demonstration of Killer Freaks. I have to say, using the gyroscope to look around and aim seemed extremely natural and a fun alternate control scheme.
It made me wonder about the gyro in the Wii U controller. Is it basically Motion+ inside or is it something more advanced? More advanced than Move? If it's that good, then perhaps the seemingly odd omission of an IR pointer makes more sense...
