Bandwidth is not and has not been an issue in any way, shape, or form. 100 GAFs could be hosted with our bandwidth.Doom_Bringer said:

What difference do you expect this to really make? Mostly no one actually reads back, so accesses to that part of the database are pretty limited.
This doesn't impact the server at all. Pics are always hosted off site, so they don't affect the server any more than links do.
Even if this were enforced through the server (could be done), it wouldn't really help anything. People would *still* refresh all the time, hitting the server just as much as before, only they'd be more annoyed.

What's really going to happen to improve performance? We'll see. It's being worked on.

Perhaps posting quotas could be enforced (?) Though that could be tricky, balancing user demand with server performance. It could have the added bonus of making people think before they post. Quota size could possibly be measured per member based maybe on how long the member's been around + post count, or maybe have everyone deal with the same quotas. Sure, it wouldn't be ideal, but it'd only be temporary.

We'll say this much, don't get yourself banned before E3.
So what exactly is DC++ then ? I know of the BT thing that we had last year, but not so much about DC++. Oh, and I really love the live webcam thing Nintendo had last year, I was so happy when they announced the new Zelda. Oh, and somebody said they have the chat log during the Zelda announcement ? Post please, I want to see everybody's reactions !

1) Create a new E3 Forum
2) Lock the other forums
3) Have a cached version of the site that doesn't need to hit the database that gets uploaded from the forum itself - this will keep getting served even if the site dies.
4) Have people submit news to the forum and let the mods approve all topics so there is no deluge of new topics

even you don't know IRC, its a program where someone sets up a chat room of sorts. You then start up the program and join the chat room. Aside frlom just chatting, we all share e3 media that you can search for and download.
we've done the DC thing the past... 2 years? maybe 3? And its worked quite well. Last year the bittorent/file website thing worked ok but DC was more stabl for me. Pluss its a place where not only can you search for files but you have a chat where gaf members are telling you all the current news and media available withotu having to click refresh 10 billion times.

I really wouldnt mind if the forums lock to members only, I mean seriously anything PS3, XB2 or REV official will be flying all over the internet ... it really wont be hard to find something ... so Im going to have to say if it means keeping the forum stable ... lock those lil junior members out!- Status
