Will Xbox Music function as the "Custom Soundtrack" in Xbox One?

Basically like this in Windows 8:

Only problem is how will the OS choose which audio is the primary/desired. Currently in Windows 8 both apps audio are simultaneously played and the volume mixer can't control metro apps volume.

I hope they allow the games to hook into music services that are installed. The game allows you to set which service(Xbox Music, Pandora, Spotify, etc) to use and the common api lets them all function the same in game. Would be pretty cool.

Yes. Specifically asked this to Penello at gamescom. He answered that it will be possible simply by snapping (or running in background) Xbox Music, from where we'll be able to use our music - both those downloaded from the service and those ripped from our audio CDs.

This would be amazing if there was a Spotify Metro app, which I'm pretty sure there isn't.

Huh? What about our MP3s? Connected ipods? Streams from our computer?

If its just bought Xbox music tracks and imports from CDs thats a huge step backwards.

I asked about using the songs already in the console, but I presume external devices will work too. It'll be like on 360, from what I understood.

Probably won't be just those... but I didn't deepen on it, sorry. It was just a random question during a demo.

I was speaking more specifically to allowing a game, for example GTA or Saints Row, to use the streaming service installed when listening to the car radio you are driving. That way, you are not limited to whatever music the game shipped with. Instead it would just pull from the music service.

Awesome to hear!

But what will happen to the game audio? Muted, I hope.
