That got 715 million viewers, still far short of 2 billion

To be honest I was comparing the WC final to the Champions League. I think it will get a billion easily, no reason why it shouldn't

Again, it's not worth feeding into the troll baiting replies :)

Almost 1/3rd of the world will be watching this? I seriously hope that has an error margin of negative 1.9 billion.

How many people even own a tv across the world?

2 billion does seem to be far to large of a number. There certainly will be many millions watching for sure though. I won't watch though because it will start too early for me. Might be able to catch the end or something.

I couldn't give a fuck either but the amount of really bitter posts in here is hilarious. America isn't in the spotlight so commence the shit talking it seems.

They are bitter over the fact that the inauguration of any president haven't been watched by 2 billion people.

We need to chip in to a paypal account to get Korey & Jenga tickets to the wedding (and maybe some little Union Flag bowler hats?). Their feigned indifference is painful to watch and I'm starting to feel bad for living their dream whilst they stand on the sidelines, shouting through bitter tears.

Bear in mind, though, that her marriage probably wasn't as well and as thoroughly broadcast through the various forms of media as Will and Kate's will be.

Oh certainly. I just thought that it would be better to try and estimate the viewing figures based on a past wedding rather than a funeral. Personally I'm not bothered either way. I read anonnumber6's post and was like "What the fuck's the Champion's League final?", back-tracked from there, and kinda got sucked in.

Oh God, I'm actually discussing the fucking wedding! That's it, I'm outta here :lol

I think it's very easy to imagine 2 billion people watching.

There is a great deal of interest around the world. Just because a load of 18-30 year old, largely single, largely American men think it is stupid doesn't reflect world opinion.

You're probably the demographic in the world that this appeals to the least.

EDIT:

In 1981 the world population was 4.5 billion, it's now 7 billion. .75 billion watched

In 2011 the population is 7 billion and with the spread of social networking/technology the number of people with access to live TV is surely enough that 2 billion is possible, neigh, likely.

Our street is getting closed off for a street party on friday, which means loads of thieving little cunts from the scum estates nearby inviting themselves and things going missing.

If someone on the street was getting married instead of this royal pair, there wouldn't be a party. Disgusting.

Aww jeez. Camping for a spot/interview? Really?

I'm sure people on here have camped for movies/books/games/black Friday or comic con panels.

It's not surprising to see people camping for something like this.

Technically i'm pretty sure she will, She is the princess of wales.

But She said she wants to remain princess consort if charles comes to the throne.

I'm convinced there's a new bacteria in Suffolk. You know how you get like, moss growing on buildings? It's like that, except it causes flags to spring up on on every brick surface.

Better question: will Prince Charles become King of England?
What I was wondering.. right to ascension would take precedent over any powers the Queen possesses correct? So technically when the time comes, the Queen can't really say "Sorry Charles, it's going to be William". Charles would have to abdicate correct? Unless there's some rule where the entire Royal Family can align against him.

Guys, even if you hate the wedding, as we all should, at least lets try and make some money on it. The question is who is going to design Kate's dress. I've put £10 on Sophie Cranston because the front runner, a McQueen dress, is too outrageous for Kate.

The question is this: does anyone here have any insider info? Are any of you MSN friends with Kate Middleton?

I think that ultimately Charles would have to abdicate, but it wouldn't be entirely nonsensical to do so.

The Queen may be 85, but she's in good health and I imagine that she'll end up beating Victoria for having the longest reign of any female monarch. Prince Charles is already 63, so he could well be 70 by the time he would ascend the throne. Although, having said that, he could still rule for a decade or so before he also kicks the bucket if his mother's anything to go by.

And Kate Middleton?

Yes, I think. If/when William ascends to the throne.

Camilla won't because of some arrangement that was part of her marriage to Charles, because she wasn't Charles' first wife, and because of public sensitivity over it all. It was decreed at the time what her title would be, but I can't exactly remember what it was..maybe princess consort or something like that.

There's nothing to stop Kate Middleton being titled as Queen when William gets to the throne, I don't think.

Isn't against the law/whatever it's called that a divorcee can't be a King/Queen?

This, too.

Although I thought that she couldn't even be a Princess, so maybe I'm wrong on this as well.

I'm just going by Wikipedia, which is probably wrong lol.

EDIT:
Camilla's style and title in full: Her Royal Highness The Princess Charles Philip Arthur George, Princess of Wales and Countess of Chester, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew, Lady of the Isles, Princess of Scotland.[34]

Because the title 'Princess of Wales' remains strongly associated with the previous holder of that title, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Camilla is referred to with the feminine form of her husband's subsidiary title, Duke of Cornwall.[3] Also, unless a specific Act of Parliament is passed in the United Kingdom to the contrary, Camilla will, upon the accession of her husband, legally be queen.[35][36] However, it has been indicated that when the Prince of Wales accedes to the throne, Camilla will remain styled as Her Royal Highness, with the title of The Princess Consort,[37] similar to the style of Prince Albert. Note that this is not the same usage as her father-in-law, HRH The Prince Philip, whose official title does not include the word "consort."

Sources they cite seem legit.

Wiki said:
A queen regnant (plural "queens regnant") is a female monarch who reigns in her own right, in contrast to a "queen consort", who is the wife of a reigning king. An empress regnant is a female monarch who reigns in her own right over an empire.
Queens regnant possess and exercise sovereign powers. The husbands of queens regnant do not usually share their wives' rank, title or sovereignty. Queens consort share their husbands' rank and titles, but do not share the sovereignty of their husbands.

.

Edit* Wrong quote! But it was saying she can be a princess, as you quoted from Wiki, but there's so much who-ha about it I think they just left it

If Charles does ascend to the throne Camilla would technically be a queen but would be titled The Princess Consort. The public would not stand for her being titled Queen. Much in the same way now she is referred to as the Duchess of Cornwall but she is also the Princess of Wales but for obvious reasons people dont call her that.

I'm going to enjoy going into town tomorrow afternoon to get lunch and seeing how deserted it is. Although I am worried that nothing will be open. Fair play to the couple, I hope they're happy but I've got no desire to join in the frothing anticipation. I've got my own wedding next week to worry about, I'm sick of the bloody things now!

We'll have to see what Charles does upon the Queen's death. Charles lives in his own little world surrounded by Yes men. He wants Camilla to be Queen and doesn't think anybody should have a say in his plans.

He sits around tweaking his coronation plans waiting for his mother to die and even said to Diana's brother at her father's funeral that he was lucky that his father, the Earl, died while he(Charles Spencer) was still a young man.

I should point out no one knows what Kate's title will be yet. Her title depends upon whether William is offered a Dukedom (speculation is it would be Cambridge) by the Queen and whether he accepts it.

At the moment her title would be Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales.

I'd rather watch this than some kind of sporting event.

Honest question. Would you rather attend/watch this wedding or the wedding of a Gaffer? If i had an invite to attend either, I would go to the Gaffers wedding.

Bullshit. You know you'd be all up in there with your binoculars looking for the seams in our Reptoid Queen's human costume.

Can someone explain the power the Royal Family has and why they are so important. I get the feeling it is more about status than it is about any actual power.

Let's face it, haters are hating because they didn't have 2,000,000,000 people eagerly watching their wedding.

Yeah I really don't know how busy the high streets will be. Nothing really to judge it against. Could be dead, stuff could be closed, or could be busy with so many off work. I imagine there's a fair few who have taken this week to go abroad anyhow.

Best of luck to you on your big day too!
