To what end? Aren't they just celebrities? Short of just being plain psychotic, I don't see any benefit in attacking them.Plasmid said:Is there any concern of attacks during the wedding?

I don't think most people have any problem with the two people who are actually getting married, just with all the ceremony and money and media attention this is getting. The royal family doesn't have any real responsibility or authority, it's just kept around I guess for tradition or for the tourism it brings so nobody should feel like this is a necessary event for Britain to go forward (who gives a shit if Prince Charles has a heir).Napoleonthechimp said:I really get tired of the "we fought a war to get rid of them!" and the "former colony" nonsense. So, because you were born in a country of which you had no choosing you automatically have to hate two completely random people? Grow up.
I was indifferent to the whole thing (and I'm from the UK) but the unwarranted hatred the two of them get pushes me to defend them.

At least he doesn't look like Eli.Kusagari said:Why does William look like Peyton Manning now?
I thought it was the whole ceremony?CF_Fighter said:I thought the actual ceremony was not being televised Just the ride down the route and the entering/exiting the church will be televised, right?
FWIW, an estimated 2.5 billion watched Princess Diana's funeral. Another .75 billion watched her wedding. There are now significantly more people and TVs in the world.Jin34 said:Estimated 2 billion? According to who, the same people who made the video game console sales chart where the Wii had negative sales 1 year?

Celebrities? They are the future king and queen of the United Kingdom, you know, of one of the few important countries in the world.
Wow. Ok.gerg said:Saying that they're the future King and Queen of England just makes them big celebrities in my mind. They're not the Prime Minister, for example.
Although, having said that, Prince Charles has done a lot through his charities, for example.
I can't tell if you're making fun of yourself or not.Mecha_Infantry said:Dude seriously. Are you fucking dumb?

You're a blatant Anglophile. You see the Union Flag each time you close your eyes and your hand twitches in a repressed salute.Korey said:I can't tell if you're making fun of yourself or not.

I think I'm done here! I'm not even a huge fan of Fridays events but I get a day off so I'm happy. The response coming from people in this thread is somewhat crazy considering all the other stuff GAF gets excited about. It's making me start to defend the wedding
Secondly it's filled with people saying they don't care. Hey guess what, we don't care about your views either. I guess we should shit up all threads with "I don't care" if it's not you're taste
Anyways, enjoy the day.
I can't honestly say I have but I've been reading the thread on my phone and haven't paid attention to names, so excuse me. But my response is in general to the attitude of the thread not to yougerg said:Have you missed all my posts defending the monarchy and people's interest in the wedding?
I just think that, having said all that, we are still dealing with figureheads who wield little actual power.
Sadly not! My womanising days are over for I may have found my queen.Salazar said:In the future, we will sit before a livestream of supreme leader SmokyDave taking girl after girl down the pub.

Aren't those figures always very optimistic? Only 200m watch the Champion's League final so I find it difficult to believe 10x will watch the wedding live.louis89 said:Princess Diana's funeral was watched by 2.5 billion. I see no reason why this can't reach 2 billion.

Wow. Calm down.Mecha_Infantry said:HAHAHAHA...These British jokes are so funny. Here's a pro-tip, Google "faggots", maybe you can make a cool new joke with that
That got 715 million viewers, still far short of 2 billionMecha_Infantry said:Ha,
Trust me, football isn't as big as a royal wedding, not to mention the World Cup final was probably a bigger spectacle. Aunties and uncles in Africa will be tuning into this!
