Is there any concern of attacks during the wedding?
To what end? Aren't they just celebrities? Short of just being plain psychotic, I don't see any benefit in attacking them.

the US government can function fine without a president, just like the UK one can without a prince/princess to be. but in both cases terrorism would enjoy the psychological hit to the population

So much talk about this wedding on tv already...like the second coming of baby-raptor-Jesus or some shit. 2 billion mi culo.

Kate is hot. Her style is my favorite part about her but I guess it's easy to be stylish when money isn't a concern.

What's that documentary about how her parents groomed her to be royally wed?

I really get tired of the "we fought a war to get rid of them!" and the "former colony" nonsense. So, because you were born in a country of which you had no choosing you automatically have to hate two completely random people? Grow up.

I was indifferent to the whole thing (and I'm from the UK) but the unwarranted hatred the two of them get pushes me to defend them.
I don't think most people have any problem with the two people who are actually getting married, just with all the ceremony and money and media attention this is getting. The royal family doesn't have any real responsibility or authority, it's just kept around I guess for tradition or for the tourism it brings so nobody should feel like this is a necessary event for Britain to go forward (who gives a shit if Prince Charles has a heir).

Honestly, it seems that everybody couldn't care less about the bride and groom, but they either hate or love the scale and the media exposure of the wedding. The actual wedding seems more important to both sides than the marriage.

Estimated 2 billion? According to who, the same people who made the video game console sales chart where the Wii had negative sales 1 year?

will they replay the wedding again on friday afternoon or 8 am ?

man William got fugly as shit as he got older.

Dat hair. Seriously. He needs to go completely bald. Do it!

BBCA is already has a marathon of Royal Family/Wedding related shows and specials airing. Why not just a Doctor Who and Top Gear marathon till the big day?

I thought the actual ceremony was not being televised Just the ride down the route and the entering/exiting the church will be televised, right?

FWIW, an estimated 2.5 billion watched Princess Diana's funeral. Another .75 billion watched her wedding. There are now significantly more people and TVs in the world.

Not as big a deal, but the point is the happenings with the monarchy an be quite the attention-getters.

Dude seriously. Are you fucking dumb?

Celebrities? They are the future king and queen of the United Kingdom, you know, of one of the few important countries in the world.

Saying that they're the future King and Queen of England just makes them big celebrities in my mind. They're not the Prime Minister, for example.

Although, having said that, Prince Charles has done a lot through his charities, for example.

It's been said ad infitum already, but there is no way this gets 2 billion viewers, 1 billion is also extremely ambitious.

Wow. Ok.

I think I'm done here! I'm not even a huge fan of Fridays events but I get a day off so I'm happy. The response coming from people in this thread is somewhat crazy considering all the other stuff GAF gets excited about. It's making me start to defend the wedding

Secondly it's filled with people saying they don't care. Hey guess what, we don't care about your views either. I guess we should shit up all threads with "I don't care" if it's not you're taste

Anyways, enjoy the day.

I can't tell if you're making fun of yourself or not.

You're a blatant Anglophile. You see the Union Flag each time you close your eyes and your hand twitches in a repressed salute.

We understand. Some of our children find it hard to let go.

Have you missed all my posts defending the monarchy and people's interest in the wedding?

I just think that, having said all that, we are still dealing with figureheads who wield little actual power.

I can't honestly say I have but I've been reading the thread on my phone and haven't paid attention to names, so excuse me. But my response is in general to the attitude of the thread not to you

Yes Americans we know you don't care, for the hundredth time in this thread. Just the response from some people sounds bitter.

As for Korey, I won't feed into your trollish endeavours. If you honestly think what I said was a joke well I feel sorry for you, as you dont understand the global landscape. Dont worry though, you have a lot of reading and research to do. Fun!!

In the future, we will sit before a livestream of supreme leader SmokyDave taking girl after girl down the pub.
Sadly not! My womanising days are over for I may have found my queen.

Execution of dissidents will be televised, however.

Aren't those figures always very optimistic? Only 200m watch the Champion's League final so I find it difficult to believe 10x will watch the wedding live.

*Trys imagining William whispering some dirty sex talk in Kate's ear*

Yeah I don't see it, probably his posh accent.

Ha,

Trust me, football isn't as big as a royal wedding, not to mention the World Cup final was probably a bigger spectacle. Aunties and uncles in Africa will be tuning into this!

HAHAHAHA...These British jokes are so funny. Here's a pro-tip, Google "faggots", maybe you can make a cool new joke with that

Yeah but that was her funeral. Her wedding to ol' jug-ears was watched by an estimated 750 million. How popular are William and Kate now compared to Chaz and Di back then?

That got 715 million viewers, still far short of 2 billion

Bear in mind, though, that her marriage probably wasn't as well and as thoroughly broadcast through the various forms of media as Will and Kate's will be.

Really don't care, but TWO BILLION?! That's just ridiculous, like, seriously. I hope more Nintendo 6 information gets leaked on Friday so we have something interesting to talk about.

You just know that someone, somewhere is going to cock something up majorly in the ceremony and become an internet sensation overnight.
