He accepted the last update which placed his Shazam in the XBL section. Me and you didn't so that's why it's still in our apps list.
Why is the Shazam app in the XBL section anyhow? I really don't like having non-game apps in there.

So the WP7 version of the HTC Inspire 4g costs double the price at launch. HTC and/or AT&T sure want this phone to fail.
? Different phones. The Inspire has better specs (sec gen CPU, more RAM, bigger ROM, camera has more MP, "4G").

That's the same HD7 that has been out for a while now. AT&T just ordered it with a Super LCD screen to differentiate it from the T-Mobile version. The HD7 is a HD2/EVO and that's the real scam.

Nokia To Use ST-Ericsson Chips For Windows Phone 8 Handsets

Earlier this year, however, Microsoft indicated it planned to open up Windows Phone development to other chipmakers. It now appears that ST-Ericsson, a joint venture between Geneva-based STMicroelectronics and Swedish telecom equipment and services supplier Ericsson, has been admitted to the Windows Phone ecosystem.

The first ST-Ericsson chipset that will appear in a Nokia Windows Phone is the U8500, a sophisticated dual-core system-on-a-chip that can also be found in the new Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone on AT&T and the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G. Later Nokia Windows Phones – the company is planning to release 12 Windows Phone devices over the course of 2012 – will run on future versions of the U8500, said Bozotti.

Fairly sure the bold is incorrect :P This isn't the first time we've heard similar news from ST-Ericsson though. It would be nice to see this opened up a bit.

Man, ATT couldn't even be bothered to sweeten the HD7S pot like Verizon did. No free Xbox game, no mail in rebate, no special price, nothing. Really no incentive to buy that phone at this point.

So you won't get it?

Nope, I'll sell my broken phone for whatever I can get on Ebay and buy a used Focus, save my upgrade for Mango. The form factor is perfect for me, which is why I was considering it, but AT&T just isn't doing enough to push me to get it considering how late in the cycle its showing up.

correct

so can someone else with a focus please check and tell me that if they turn their rocker volume to Zero, the voice stays fairly loud OR goes to faint or nothing... thanks!

I get nothing if it's at zero. I never mess with any of the diagnostic setting though that suppose to increase volume.

the 24th mango event is just around the corner. hope we see some compelling hardware to match the software.
I still think it's too early to show any hardware. We'll see it at the actual launch event, just like last year. A beta for devs in June would be night, though.

Was thinking of picking up a WP7 (carrier is Rogers, they have the Focus), but I'm wondering if I should wait for new hardware. I imagine that won't happen in Canada anytime soon though.

I'd sit and wait, second gen WP7 phones are going to be awesome (I think).

ok. thanks for checking

I never adjusted the sound either, only thing I have done in diagnostic is check the battery level and turn on HSPA.

gonna have to figure this out

EDIT:

just to confirm... it works fine with music or playback of voice, it is only during a phone call where it does not adjust much whether on speaker or private

BTW.... nice password, ID, info storage APP that uses Skydrive AND syncs with companion desktop app that has import features

Sky wallet $3.99 (with free trial) that does it all... after you buy it you can get desktop app by emailing through the phone app and he drops a link on your skydrive account to the desktop download.

once it's all set up it syncs seamlessly between several PCs, WP7 via your skydrive

Well during the call if you turn the volume down it just go lower but it never go to silence if that what you are asking. Probably another one of those by design thing ... *shrug* I assume they think you will just mute it if you don't want any sound.

yea, thanks

Mute doesn't mute them though only outgoing... I appreciate you may never want the voice all the way down but on zero sometimes my speaker phone is still too loud for my office. although necessary outside

Any recommendations for a google reader app?
I've used a shitload of them. Trials of at least 10-15, and even bought a few over the months.

gReadie was my favorite, and has push notifications which is a nice plus, but the developer kept introducing bugs with updates only to fix them later. One bug in particular had starred items always screwed up. Maybe gReadie is working better now, but I haven't used it for a while.

Instead, I've been using Feed Reader 2.0 for the last couple months, and it's by far the best I've used. Has full Twitter support too, and great Twitter support at that. Has a great interface for starring multiple messages, tons of options for font size, organization, etc. Has an offline mode too in case you were interested, and even Podcast support. Very awesome app, and it performs really well too which is a challenge in apps like this that use a lot of long lists.

I can't see them announcing that many devices so early, unless Mango hits much earlier than expected.

The certified chipsets support HSPA+ (MSM7230, MSM8255) and LTE (MSM7630, MSM8655).

Maybe Microsoft will announce new 'Zune' devices running WP7.

Oooh nice.

I want to see the wifi issues fixed for the Focus. I know when I'm at my parents place, it takes forever for the Focus to connect. Works fine at my apartment.

My mind was blown away when I realized that the music hub has a radio feature... Wish I would've known that before I found an app with my local station I needed.

I've recently had some problems with my Windows Phone that I can't seem to find an answer for online and wanted to see if anyone here could offer me some help. About two weeks ago I slipped and fell while walking and cracked the top right side of my Samsung Focus, very close to where the charger port is. Initially everything was fine, but now I've had problems doing a lot of stuff. For starters, I can't seem to get my computer to recognize my phone anymore. I had previously hooked it up and used Zune with it, but now whenever I plug it in it gives me a brief message about the driver not being installed or something of the sort. I've also noticed that under the "About" section in the phone, it now says that the phone total storage is 15.73 MB and the available storage is 1.82 MB. I have no idea why that has happened, and I've tried resetting my phone to it's original factory settings but have had no success yet. Any ideas as to what I could do to get my phone functional again?

Windows Media Player needs an update badly.

Maybe finally the an update to date? (aka Zune integration?)
They should replace WMP with Zune.

Sadly I don't see that happening now with Zune being dead and all.

Do you have a MicroSD card in the Focus?

There are certaining thing that WMP does better than Zune such as burn the CD disc. But yeah, they need to just combine the two.

If you have MicroSD card, you probably want to make sure it is secure. It could have come loose when you drop the phone. Reboot the phone and see if it come back up, if not you can try factory reset but you will loose all your setting and data.

If that doesn't work and you need to do full reset, hold down the three buttons until the phone ask you if you want to reinstall the factory firmware. I have to do that after I remove the first MicroSD card in order for the phone to dissociate the memory from the old card.

I know that WMP is better at some things like playing video and generally more file types support but that is nothing that can't be fixed with the Zune.
