Posting from my new Orange Omnia 7. Initial impressions? Bloody awesome. SO responsive.
jealous.

Also how easy is it to switch between profiles (and gamertags)?

Video calling is so 2005.

(I don't think so.. Yet)
I remember working wireless retail when those video calling first hit Canada in 2006 (like a few years after Europe / Asia). What a spectacular failure. Hardly anybody had data those and you needed to use a phone that could be used on the 3G network of which there were like 5 at the time!

Has there been any mention of when ATT will offer upgrade options for Windows Phones? I keep checking the site and haven't found anything substantial. They have a "check if you are eligible to upgrade" link but don't have any phones listed.

Well, I say that, but I guess I could have one any time I wanted. My current £35 a month contract ended months ago so I'd imagine all I need to do is call them.

That's interesting. I think Engadget already has it, since Topolsky, the editor in chief, got a suspicious birthday present from Microsoft's Aaron Woodman on the last Engadget Show. :D Would be nice to finally have a proper review.

The latest episode of the Engadget Show is up and part I'm referring to begins at 3:00.

e: But now that I saw it again, I'm probably reading too much into it. :lol

You know what always annoyed me about Windoes Mobile? Having to pay extra for mobile Word/Excel/PowerPoint

(I never did and my phone didn't come with it, so I was screwed when I got the occasional email where I wanted to open an attached file on my phone)

Luckily, this is one area where they appear to have smartened up due to desperation.

Yeah so I'm waiting to go over to my GF's place in a bit and so I fired up the Engadget show to see what I was missing. Nothing big so far, but IDK I feel SLIGHTLY more confident that the OS won't end up fragmented.

EDIT: Damn it looking at these phones just make me go okay WTF 2 of the 3 AT&T phones look cheapie and then they show all this EU stuff that I'm like I WANT THAT SHIT!

Gosh damn it if I could just morph the focus screen on the HTC surround I'd be happy! :lol

EDIT: LOL right after I typed Josh even calls them out on this. He's like why can't get this here instead of this focus which is cheap plastic. :lol

Yeah, wtf? There is a "real" Neogaf app??
An offical NeoGAF app for Wp7 would be pretty dam awesome.

Got my phone a few hours ago- went home to set up the number and play around with it- its fucking awesome!

Which do you have? Man, I don't want to wait two fucking weeks.

I can't wait for some impressions...for some reason, because every reviewer says "The OS is unlike anything before it", I feel like they're pulling shit out of their ass. Any reviews from a die-hard iOS fan?

I bought a Mozart. Pretty good phone. Digging it.

Not a die hard iOS fan- infact I hate it- my friend is- I might let him have a play around.

They might be over-exzaduating a bit- but its pretty awesome.

Because it is... One look through the interface should show you it's nothing like iOS, Android, or BB OS. I've been using iOS for the past 2 years and dislike it. Eagerly awaiting WP7.

Apparently there's an Android Venue Pro in the works.

Amazon listed Venue Pro as November 8th!

i've been under the impression that you can pin nearly anything as a tile. it's up to the developers if they want to add animations and notifications to the tile itself. so yeah, i expect this to be a very common thing. heck, all apps should do some kind of animation.

The Venue Pro is the one W7 phone I'm interested in, but I'm already an Android user. Like Josh Topolsky says, it's really hard to believe that it is a Dell device. :lol :lol

I haven't played with a WP7 phone and I like iOS and outright love my iPhone 4 but whenever I watch a video or read a review of WP7 I find myself thinking it sounds pretty incredible. It has some features I'd love to see on iOS.

I don't think it's animations, just service-hosted images. Microsoft has a Push notification service of course that anyone can utilize (though an app developer needs a way to push the right messages to Microsoft's servers).

But if an app developer wants to push live tiles to phones, they need to host the live images on their own service - that's too much data for Microsoft's notification server to handle from what I understand.

The Engadget show never ceases to piss me off because that Crapple hack Topolsky is on it everytime, I have no idea how that guy can call himself a journalist!

Oh god.

The App store on Zune Market Place is shaping up pretty quickly. All the essentials apps I used on Android are all there + more. The games are pretty sweet too.

As for the interesting novelty stuff... not there yet.

You're right, but out of the 1200 apps on the marketplace, only 4 have live tiles. :lol

After seeing the Dell Venue Pro on the Engadget Show...wow. I'm glad I'm on T-Mobile for once
geezus it looks so gorgeous live. that curved screen really separates itself from the pack. i'm so ready to buy this outright for a price of up to $700.

Which is why everyone should be happy that Microsoft has released WP7. Competition is good for this market.

Agreed. From the perspective of an iPhone user, the things Google does with Android just aren't that interesting to me -- most of their featureset feels like it already exists in some form on iOS. Windows Phone 7 looks like something completely fresh and I keep seeing things in it that I'd love to have on the iPhone.

As someone who used to use wino, what Microsoft has done with WP7 is just amazing to me.

Still waiting for MS to fix the Xbox Live Extras App...waiting waiting waiting. Some of the live games are really good - Rocket Riot is a blast, and actually controls better on my phone than on my 360.

Is it out in the US yet?

EDIT: I meant all the phones, rather than the game.

Watching this episode, he is asking really hard hitting questions. Although they kind of laughed off why the US got the Focus instead of the Omnia.
